The smell of leather hit me like a ton of bricks, and I shut my eyes, trying to push away the anxiety creeping in. David still wasn’t here; maybe he was chatting with James. I know it’s rude to just show up without saying hi to anyone in the family, but honestly, I’m over it. I’m done with tonight, done with people, and definitely done with this anxiety.

I need something to calm me down, like, right now. I let out a sigh and opened my eyes, the reporter's question still echoing in my head—him with another girl? No way. If that were true, he would definitely tell me. I know David; he’s not the type to cheat.

He’s straight and has enough guys around to keep things real. Just then, I spotted a figure approaching—David was strutting towards me like he owned the place, coat in one hand and sleeves rolled up. My stomach twisted. He got in the car, tossed his coat in the back seat, and looked at me.

“Are you okay?” he asked, so politely it made me wonder if he was really David
