The cold water hit my body like a shockwave, sending a jolt through my nerves that made me gasp for breath, momentarily paralysing me in its icy grip. It was a stark contrast to the warmth of the sun above, and I felt every drop cling to my skin as I plunged deeper into the pool.

The water enveloped me, a brief sanctuary from the chaos above, but as I pushed myself back up to the surface, I took a deep breath, shaking my head to clear the water from my eyes. That’s when I saw him—David, standing at the edge of the pool with a smug grin plastered across his face.

What a jerk! He looked far too pleased to see me in this state, and the sight of him ignited a fire of anger within me. My heart raced, not just from the cold but from the frustration boiling over.

Anger surged through me, and I felt like I could just explode. I marched over to him, shooting him a glare that could burn. He knelt down, extending a hand.
