Olivia pov

David's dad said, "Hmm, that's quite a choice," which made me gulp. It felt like I just slammed my head against a wall. David had warned me, but I brushed it off.

I wanted him to experience his own medicine, but it looks like I got hit with a reality check instead. I sighed and forced a smile at his dad. "Nice to meet you, Uncle. I'm Olivia," I said. He just smiled back.

"You can't be serious about bringing your future wife home," David's sister Amelia chimed in. I remembered James mentioning how much she loved her alone time. "It just happened," David replied, looking less than thrilled to be talking to anyone.

"Oh, come sit with me, dear," David's mom said, which made me smile.

"Come to the office," David's dad instructed, and David nodded, casting me a glance that seemed to say, "Just keep it together." As he walked away, I felt a mix of relief and anxiety wash over me. The room fell silent, and I took a moment to absorb my surroundings.
