I heard Aaron snickering from behind me, and I'm fighting the urge not to punch him in the face.

"Keep making that noise, and you'll find yourself with a bruised face," I threatened him, but the motherfucker only laughed louder.

"Jealousy should be kept in check, Mr. Michael Montero, and certainly not lead you to dig for information about the poor young guy just because he was nice to your wife."

"You'll understand my feelings once you're committed to someone, and when that happens and you do something more stupid than I have, I'm going to laugh at you just like you're doing right now."

"Bet on it," he sneered.

"Aaron, honey," my mom approached, wearing an apron and holding a spatula. "Are you sure you won't stay?"

"He's actually leaving right now," I answered for him, earning a snort from him.
