Part One Hundred and Nine

James grinned at me and I had to smile. The officers were struggling to get in between the two of us and I got in one more punch to James' jaw before the officer jumped in front of me, his gun raised. The other officer had his gun on James.

“Now listen to me carefully boys, on your knees slowly.” We complied, and I placed my hands behind my head and got down on my knees.

“Do either one of you want to tell me what the hell is going on here?” he asked out of breath.

“He started it!” James yelled angrily.

I laughed at him and James pretended that he wanted to get up again. The police officer placed his hand on James' shoulder to restrain him and I really had to stop myself from laughing. There was no way they would have been able to stop us if this had been a real fight.

“Okay, both of you are coming down to the station,” the police officer said as they handcuffed us.

‘Great,’ I thought to myself.

Assault was better than murder, I guess. They loaded us next to each other into the backsea
