"A witch," chuckled Keegan. He walked around Lyla who actually wasn't intimidated by the young man at all. His hand grabbed a handful of Lyla's hair and inhaled deeply, making the girl turn around and brushed Keegan's hand away.
"Your hair smells like spice." He chuckled. "Are you wictches always stuck in the kitchen?"
Lyla's hands clenched. Again and again. She had always been the object of bullying. Even in a school where all students were Freakies, she was still a target. This was absolutely unacceptable. Lyla had enough with it.
"Hei, are you mute? Deaf? Can you hear what I said? You can talk, can't you?" fishing Keegan. His desire was so passionate that he wanted to start a conflict with this girl in front of him. He had never liked witches---bloodsuckers had never liked their existence. It had been like that for hundreds of years.
Witches didn't deserve to be among the Freakies. They are just ordinary people who happened to have brilliant brains and able to create concoctions that made them seem to have powers. They even created potions for immortality.
They thought they could be on par with the Freakies purebloods. Just look at the Witch class in this school, every day the students had to go to the forest to find rare plants. It really made Keegan want to laugh.
"I have no business with you!" She insisted.
"Ow, you have guts apparently." Keegan's grin appeared showing his sharp canine teeth.
"Do you think your newly grown fangs make me scared?"
Keegan escaped his laugh. "My fangs can pierce your neck and suck your blood dry."
"Get away from me!" Lyla raised a hand and pushed him forward. It didn't hit Keegan's chest but instead, the young man was pushed back a few steps.
Keegan's eyes widened. He was slightly surprised by what the brown haired girl had just done. While Lyla smiled cynically at Keegan's facial expression. "You think we're only good at making potions?"
Keegan smirked again. He didn't like this. The bully's target dared to fight back. He bet this girl didn't know who he was. Otherwise she wouldn't be messing around with him. This girl had to know who she was dealing with.
He sped up until he looked like a black shadow. In just a few seconds, he was behind Lyla and grabbed the girl's neck. His fangs were ready to sink there.
Lyla turned around, took a few steps back, and pushed her hand forward. Keegan was pushed back a few steps. Had not had time to reply to Lyla's attack, his neck seemed to be choking when the girl moved her fingers.
"I could easily break your neck right now!" Lyla smiled slyly.
"In your dream, Witch!" Keegan raised a hand, made a motion as if he was gripping something, then flung it aside.
"Argh!" Lyla screamed as she's holding her wrist which felt like it was sprained.
"Hey! You guys are so noisy!" shouted Mr. Burgog from the end of the shelf, making Keegan discourage from attacking Lyla again.
"Making a fuss one more time, you will be fined!" cried Mr. Burgog back.
Keegan grinned as he walke past Lyla and nudged her shoulder hard. "Welcome to Gothic Academy, Witch." He whispered.
Lyla hissed. She checked on her wrist, which was still sore. There seemed to be a bruise there, and a bit of a fingernail scratch. "Damn it!" She grew furious.

"Hei, what happened to your whrist?" asked Louisa when she saw the bruise on Lyla's arms.
"Nothing. Just a little incident in the library." Lyla lied while covering the bruise with the edge of her sleeve. Her attention was drawn to the long-legged glass in Louisa's hand, which contained a thick red liquid.
"Does this school have stock of human blood for you guys?" she asked.
"Oh, it's animal blood. Don't worry." Louisa said as she took a sip of the red liquid from the glass. The girl licked the remaining blood on her lips. "Pretty tasty though. Even still our favorite is human blood." She continued with a chuckle.
Lyla snorted softly. Then she glanced around. The dining room was already very crowded with students who were going to enjoy dinner. The Goblins who served them seemed to have memorized the menu for each type of creatures.
"What will happen if you eat this garlic?" Lyla said as she stabbed one whole garlic clove in the bread.
"Ah, get that thing away from me." Louisa screamed while crossing her palms in front of her face, making Lyla laughed.
"Your reaction is too much," said Lyla.
"We hate garlic. It contains antibiotics that can kill us," explains Louisa.
"Can you get killed just by looking at it? Why are you being so overbearing?" said Lyla as she's chewing a piece of bread.
"Our brains are wired to stay away from that thing." Louisa muttered. "Don't joke about that with me, Lyla!"
Their conversation was interrupted by the presence of two girls dressed in black who---without permission---sat with them. Both of them stared at Lyla sharply.
"Hei, New Girl, I heard you're from The Helliwells." One of them spoke. Her gaze intimidated Lyla.
"Yeah, so?" she asked. From their appearances, Lyla could tell that the two girls were also witches.
"You know your family's reputation among us, don't you? A troublesome family who is under the supervision of the Witch Council," said another---the girl with a round face.
"So what?" asked Lyla as she's challenging the sharp gaze of the two girls.
"I'm Deborah Coffey. I'm the head of the Witch class. And she's Sarah Litcher, my second-in-command. We want to make sure your troublemaker genetic won't make problem here." Lyla hissed at Deborah's words.
"Everything that happens in the Witch class, has to be conveyed to us. Do you understand?" She continued.
Lyla shrugged. "Whatever." She muttered.
"We are serious. This is a warning for you. Don't you dare to harm our good reputation, Helliwell." Deborah leaned towards Lyla while pointing directly at the girl's face. Lyla hissed as the two girls left. Her appetite was gone.
"Is it true what they said, Lyla?" asked Louisa.
"What?"
"About your family."
Lyla pounded the table lightly; don't want to catch the attention of everyone in the room. "My family is not a problem. They are the problem." She said through gritted teeth.
Louisa raised both hands. "I'm just asking." She squeaked.
Lyla let out a sharp breath. Truly, no one around could make her happy. Everyone sucked. This was why Lyla hated school so much. She hated mingling with anybody, even with the witch circle. Too many rules made up.

Lyla came out of the dorm with thick books tucked into her arms. Her steps hastily headed towards the Witch class building. But as she passed the boys dorm, she suddenly stopped as few meters in front of her, three pale-skinned young man blocking her way. "In such a rush?" Keegan, who was standing in the middle, chuckled. His two friends were also doing the same thing. "You, again!" She snapped. "Get out of my way, or I'll move the clouds up there so you'll get the sunburned." She threatened them. Keegan and his two friends laughed at Lyla's threat. "She's idiot. She thinks we're afraid of the sun." Keegan said to his two friends. "Yeah, I bet she read in the ancient books too much, and believed it like fools," said the young man on Keegan's right side. "I just want to say good morning, Helliwell." Keegan said. A moment later, he sped up towards Lyla. The young man was now standing behind her, aiming for the girl's neck. On reflex, Lyla swung the thick book she was holding int
"Aargh! Easy, please!" Keegan snapped as a woman with pointy ears and white hair cleaned his wound in the treatment room. Keegan's face looked flushed, especially around the eye area. There were brown spots like blisters on the skin. "Keep your hands off your face, or they'll get allergic too." Miss Abigaily---an elf who was also the school nurse---stopped Keegan's hand when the young man was about to touch the wound on his face. "Don't give me witch potions! It's disgusting!" "This is a prescription for elven medicine. Don't worry." Miss Abigaily opened a vial filled with a glistening liquid. "Your auto-immunity cannot treat your wound, because the allicin in garlics is difficult for your body to resist." She explained as she's smearing Keegan's face with the potion. "I knew about that already!" Keegan snapped. The young man's pale but handsome face looked so annoyed. "This nasty witch, she has to pay for this." He muttered. Miss Abigaily shook her head slowly. Lyla Helliwell growled as her pair of blue iris eyes stared into the locker. Two stinky-dead rats and sewage sludge were in there covered her books. She knew exactly who had done such a nasty thing; Maddy and her cheerleaders gang. Her palms clenched when she heard chuckling from behind her back. Of course Lyla knew Maddy and her friends were behind."Your locker's dirty, huh?" ridiculed the blonde haired girl with too much make-up she put on her face. The blonde's words were met with laughter from the others."Look at this wierdo, her look just disgusts me, I don't know why?""Yes, that's right. Why does she have to wear black every day? Does any other color burn her skin?" The sound of laughter was getting louder and louder that it made Lyla furious."I think she's just looking for attention." Lyla's facial expression scrunched up when Anastasia appeared from behind a large wooden door carved with a dragon carving. The mama had just finished talking to the headmaster---Mrs Campbell."Be good, Lyla. Don't cause any more trouble."
