“He wants me to spend the night at his house. What do you say?”

Gabriel smiled and shook his head when he took in his sister’s request. He asked her in return,

“Did you ask for my permission before agreeing to marry him?”

He was not upset that he agreed to marry Dexter but wanted to make it clear that he had no say in her love matters.

Doreen’s hands boiled into fists and she responded fiercely,

“No need to be so cross with me. I was just thinking about how lonely you’ll be at home.”

Gabriel shrugged, knowing he was going to spend his time chatting on his phone with Maeve. That did not seem like boredom to him.

“That should not concern you. I have always found it comfortable to live alone.”

“Great. I’m spending the night with him then.”

When she turned around, Gabriel grabbed her arm and whispered in her ears,

“Tell him to use a condom or get some pills. I don’t think you want to get pregnant before marriage.”

Doreen’s countenance changed at her brother’s words; her face red
