Chapter 707

Author: Cozy Season
Caleb arranged for Debra to visit a high-end boutique for a custom-made dress, and Erica, as the maid of honor, volunteered to accompany her.

Outside the boutique, several staff members had been waiting for a while. As soon as they saw Debra and Erica approaching, they quickly came forward to greet them.

"Mrs. Houston, Miss Mathis, this way, please."

It was the first time Debra had been addressed as Mrs. Houston. Her face turned a faint shade of pink at the sound of it.

Erica teased her, "Mrs. Houston... That really rolls off the tongue. After the engagement, you'll officially be my cousin-in-law, and we'll be family."

"Knock it off," Debra protested, her embarrassment growing.

Though it wasn't her first marriage, this was the first time she'd ever had an actual wedding.

As they entered the boutique, Debra was momentarily overwhelmed by the rows upon rows of stunning dresses that lined the walls.

Erica grumbled good-naturedly, "Wow, Caleb really went all out, huh? I've taken ca

Melody and Shelia stood close together, the picture of a doting grandmother and her beloved granddaughter. The sight of either of them was enough to disgust Erica, and now they had appeared together."What are they doing here?" she muttered with annoyance. The manager quickly explained, "I've heard that Mr. Nichols is also getting engaged. I presume they're here to select dresses."Erica frowned. "There are only so many high-end boutiques in Seamar City, and we just had to run into these two. Talk about bad luck."Debra shook her head. "Bad luck? I'd say they're here to stir up trouble."It didn't feel like a coincidence at all. Seamar City had plenty of boutiques, yet they had shown up at the same place and on the same day.It seemed more like Shelia had intentionally found out where Debra was going and brought Melody along for support.A staff member placed rows of dresses in front of Shelia. "Mr. Blair, these are our latest products. Feel free to take your pick."Shelia hel

"Well..." The staff member hesitated. The wedding gown and dress designed for Debra were not just any pieces. They were one-of-a-kind, custom-tailored specifically for her. The Houstons had even purchased the exclusive rights to the designs, ensuring their uniqueness.According to store policy, those gowns couldn't be sold to anyone else.Shelia grumbled, "Is there a problem?"The staff member replied, "Ms. Blair, this dress was custom-made for Mrs. Houston, specifically tailored to her measurements. I'm afraid it might not fit you properly. How about we have our designer create something just for you?"Shelia insisted, "But I want that design for my engagement dress. Either make me an identical one or make it better than what she's wearing."She shot Debra a smug, challenging look, and the staff members were caught in the middle. The tailor finished her job, putting away the measuring tape.Debra slipped back into her coat, her composure unshaken.Erica, however, was fuming.

Over the past few months, Shelia had immersed herself in the world of fashion, thanks to her time with the Blair family. She now had a decent grasp of fabrics, styles, and trends. When the staff member handed the chosen fabric to the manager, the latter asked, "What style did Mr. Blair choose?"The staff member replied, "She hasn't chosen a style yet, but we're about to show her some options."Debra glanced at the satin and said to the manager, "Didn't she say she liked the dress I'm wearing? Just show her my style."The manager hesitated. "But the gown you're wearing is a fishtail design. If we use the stiff silk satin she chose, it might not work well."Debra's gown was made from soft chiffon, which flowed beautifully and accentuated the fishtail shape. Shelia's satin, on the other hand, was stiff and not suited for such a delicate design."Well, that's what she requested," Debra said. "Maybe we think it won't look good, but who knows? She might think otherwise. Besides, the cu

"Why did you stop me from teaching Shelia a lesson?" Erica said, unable to contain her frustration. With Marion's influence in Seamar City, even if they had to face off against Juan, they wouldn't lose a step.It was clear to everyone present that Shelia had deliberately tried to outshine Debra."Did you notice the fabric she picked?""Satin?""And the style?""A mermaid dress."Erica paused, finally catching on.Shelia had picked the same style as Debra, but the fabric she chose was different.Erica mused, "And she wants to bedazzle the whole thing with rhinestones. My goodness! I can't even imagine what it'll look like."Debra grinned, "I need you to do me a favor. Talk to the designer and make sure they follow Shelia's instructions. I'll cover the cost."Erica gave her a thumbs up. "Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant."The engagement party was just three days away, and given the tight deadline, there would be no time to fix anything if Shelia's dress ended up a disaster. If

Debra scrolled through the comment thread beneath Marion's supposed alias.[Marion, use your main account.][Yeah.][The moment a Debra-Juan fan says anything, Mr. Houston's there to shut it down.]Debra liked Marion's comment and planned to exit the app when a video compilation caught her eye.It was a clip of her and Juan from their time on the island, meticulously edited to emphasize every small gesture between them. The captions painted a picture of intimacy and affection.[Whenever Juan looks at her, his eyes are full of love.][That hand he reached out? That was instinctive.][She's looking ahead, but he's only looking at her.]...Debra was dazed. She hadn't noticed these details during the livestream. But soon, Juan's cold face resurfaced in her mind. The last time they met, he was full of indifference. She wondered if he was pretending or revealing his true colors. With doubt in mind, she grabbed her phone and scrolled through her contacts, landing on Juan's name

Debra quickly checked out the announcement from Juan. It was made by a new account named "Juan Studio".And there was only one post. [No speculations].Debra bolted upright from the couch and asked Ben, "Is this account real?""I had it checked. It's a certified account. So, yes, it's true."Besides, it was the kind of move Juan would make. He had always hated being dragged into any sort of drama, preferring to handle things swiftly and efficiently. But still, Debra couldn't help but think back to the time they had survived a life-and-death situation together on that island. She didn't understand why he was going against her like this now.Ben continued, "Everyone now believes we're creating hype, and your reputation has taken a hit. Your fans...""I understand," Debra said. The Debra-Juan shippers were now either turning into indifferent bystanders or haters. The damage to her reputation was becoming evident.Debra checked out those comments."Let it be. Don't worry about it

Business magnates, real estate tycoons, and A-list celebrities alike gathered, each vying for a coveted invitation. The streets were jammed with high-end cars, creating a traffic gridlock that made it nearly impossible to pass through. The Royal Grand Hotel and the Maple Hotel were competitors, to begin with. Now their rivalry extended even to their security teams and ushers. Each team was determined to outshine the other, their bespoke uniforms a testament to their competitive spirit. The underground parking lots had been expanded to accommodate the flood of guests. From a distance, passersby whispered among themselves."Both families are throwing engagement parties today. Liza screamed in fear as she glanced in her rearview mirror. The car behind hers was barely a centimeter away from crashing into her own.She fumed, "Who the hell drives like that? Do you have any idea how much this car costs?"The other car was common, and she assumed the driver was some reckless, nouveau riche fool with no sense of road safety. But when the driver stepped out, her blood ran cold. Her face turned pale as she recognized Randy. She had heard of the Osborne family's influence, even when she was abroad. In fact, her visit to Seamar City this time was to build a good relationship with them.Randy's icy gaze swept over her. "Who said Debra doesn't have a family? The Osborne family stands behind her."Cathryn stepped forward, trying to smooth things over. "Mr. Osborne, you're joking. Debra and you aren't related by blood. How could you support her?"Randy retorted, "That's none of your concern. I will be the best man at her wedding. That makes me as good as her family

The bodyguards at the entrance were intimidating. When Debra handed over her invitation, she worried there might be fingerprint scans or facial recognition. That would make things tricky. But the guards barely glanced at it before waving her through. Debra was surprised by how smoothly things went. This castle was one of the top three landmarks overseas, and it had never been open to the public. During the day, it was a tourist attraction. But now, someone managed to host a private banquet right there.Once inside, she was faced with one more hurdle. Rows of scanners stood ahead, all meant to detect any restricted items.Debra was carrying no gun, but Marion had given her a Bluetooth earpiece to stay in contact. To minimize suspicion, they decided to enter separately. She would go in first, and he'd follow shortly after. She hesitated for a moment before taking off the earpiece and tossing it into a shadowed corner.Just as she stepped forward, someone in front of her triggered

When they entered the dream, the gems were real.Fermin had woken up faster than them and taken the gems. Then he must have found a way to hide them or hand them off to someone else.In other words, this whole thing was planned. Michael chuckled, "You probably won't believe this, but after I finished work, I found this thing right outside my door.""What?" Debra was shocked.Michael explained, "Since that night you asked me to keep an eye out, I reached out to a few international contacts. But I came up empty. Then, the very next day, this thing was sitting outside my door."Debra mused, "So, you think someone knew you were investigating, so they gave you a shortcut?""If that's the case, then the organization must be massive, and the entertainment industry could very well be their way of spreading their influence," Michael said.A lightbulb went off in Debra's head.At those banquets held by the Lowe family, most of the guests were from the entertainment industry. Whether they were once-famous stars or rising ones, these celebrities were typically the targets of wealthy businessmen. If the entertainment industry was being used to spread Illuminati teachings, then it wasn't the stars trapping the rich m

When the bathroom door opened, Debra was soaking in the bathtub. She asked awkwardly, "Uh, where's the towel?"It was her first time staying in that house, and she hadn't expected the towel not to be in the bathroom.Marion was relieved to see her fine. "I'll get it for you."He walked over to grab the towel, then entered the bathroom and draped it over her shoulders. Her cheeks looked rosy, maybe because of the heat in the bathroom.Worried about her injury, he gently lifted her out of the bathtub. She instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck. "Marion, what are you doing?" Debra shot him a warning look.Marion shrank back."Alright. I'll call again when I get there," Michael said."Okay." Debra ended the call and looked up to see Marion's frustrated look."I'm hungry," she said, pecking him on the lips.Marion lost what little control he had left. He tilted her chin up, pressed a hand to the back of her neck, and kissed her deeply. It wasn't until they were both breathless that he finally pulled away."Let's go eat," he said.Debra glared at him, knowing he was doing that on purpose."Well, I'm not that hungry anymore," she said deliberately.Marion looked back and met her limpid eyes. His lips, slightly swollen from his kisses, were soft and inviting like ripe cherries."I am hungry, though." His voice was low, teasing. This time, his kisses were slow, lingering. When she woke up the next morning, Debra instinctively reached out to feel around. She muttered, "Marion, what time is it?"There was no response. She opened her eyes and found Marion wasn't in bed. After a quick wash, she went downstairs.Marion, who had come back from his mission, was cooking breakfast in the kitchen. The sleeves of his black shirt were rolled up."You're up so early," he said, noticing it was only 7 a.m.He had gotten used to Debra's routine."Breakfast is ready. Come eat," he added, setting two sandwiches and a bowl of oatmeal on the table.Since Debra's injury, her health had been poor. While in the hospital, she'd repeatedly had fevers. Recently, she could only eat light food. She had slept deeply last night, probably because she was exhausted. After she took her seat, Marion sat next to her and began to gather her hair into a bun."You're getting better at this," she chuckled."Anything for you," he replied with a smile.A bodyguard came in and repo
