Bryan and Jamal were waiting in their car, which was parked on the driveway of a semi detached duplex, when Bryan spoke, while reading from his phone.

“The police report just came in. The place is registered to a Marco Silvester, who has a long rap sheet.

Assault, breaking and entering , armed robbery, racketeering, two DUIs and larceny.”

“He definitely fits the profile of a gang member.”

Jamal replied.

The house, which was the address Pascal had given them was empty, but they descided to remain put since it was the only lead they had so far in their investigation.

An hour had almost passed, when the home owner arrived in his car.

“Hey. He’s here.””

Bryan called out to his sleeping partner.

The two agents came out of their vehicle and approached the huge man who looked like a bouncer.

“Excuse me sir. Are you the home owner?”

Bryan asked the man.

“Yes I am. Is there any problem?”

He asked.

Kimberly brought out a pan of freshly baked muffins from the oven, and carried it to the display glass where she was arranging the hot pastries when the door opened. She turned to their new customer and said.“Welcome to Angel’s bakery. How may I help you?”“I’ll like a cake.”“What’s the occasion?”Kimberly inquired.“My daughter’s seventh year birthday.”“That’s nice. We have some freshly baked cakes of different sizes and shapes in our catalogs. Please come with me.”She said while leading the slightly overweight woman in her late thirties to the cake section. After browsing for a while, the woman picked a medium sized naked cake in the shape of a heart, which Kimberly carried to the dressing table.“What color of frosting should I use?”She asked the customer.“White. With pink writings”“Alright.”She immediately set to work, moving the icing can with dexterity as she beautifully coated the cake. Twenty minutes later, she was done, with it.Yellow star candy was sprinkled on it, w

Kimberly felt numerous eyes on her as she walked into the club. She could see some people dancing to the music that was blaring from the large speakers on the open space close to the DJ’s stage, as she made her way to the bar. She ordered a glass of Martini which she was sipping when she heard a familiar voice behind her.“My chief Lieutenant.”She turned around and sure, it was no other person but Luis, the head of the Italian Mafia standing before her.She smiled weakly and said.“Hello.” He took a seat beside her and ordered a glass of vodka. He was dressed exquisitely as usual, as he had worn a three piece suit. He barely looked like anyone affiliated to the mafia save for the skull tattooed to his neck. She had met Luis through Oscar, a former colleague in the marines who had been in the same line of business before her.“You look even more beautiful than the other time we met.”Her boss complimented.“Thank you.” She replied curtly.“I would love you to be at my

EIGHT MONTHS AGO Kimberly shivered slightly as the harsh cold wind blew relentlessly, but she continued following in the footsteps of the Afghanistan local who acted as their guide through the mountains to their rendezvous point. Behind her was sergeant Oscar, her closest friend in her unit who was also a sniper.“Are you getting tired?”She teased him.“Hell no.”The Texan replied with his southern drawl. Kimberly was not finding it easy herself. Hiking at a fast pace while carrying full military gear on a steep terrain for over four hours was not a small feat.Rather she gathered her strength and continued moving. The only thing that would stop her was if she dropped dead. Being one of the few females in the marines meant that she was constantly looked down on by some of the chauvinists in her unit. The constant need to always prove herself was what made her develop a thick skin both physically and emotionally. At the same time, being the only female

Kimberly’s shift at Angel’s bakery has just ended as she made her way to the terminal to catch a bus. The time was 4:03pm which meant that there was little time for her to walk Rex to the dog park before going to Luis’ birthday party later that evening. After her dismissal from the marines, Oscar had set her up with his brother, Kelvin who owned the bakery. The pay was decent, at least she had to keep herself busy, and also have a good cover for her double life. She got to the terminal and joined the small crowd to wait. It wasn’t long before a bus arrived and they all boarded it after some of the previous passengers alighted. She took a seat beside a window and enjoyed a view of the city as she got closer and closer to her apartment.! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Kimberly entered Luis’ mansion for the first time and took in the splendor of the aesthetics. The interior decorators had done a great job planning this party. The building was a gothic styled house with golden chandeliers hanging on its high ceilings, purple Persian rugs adorned the floor, white marbles decorated the walls and a dining table made of mahogany with golden candle stands were some of the things she took note of when entered the building. The man sure had taste and was a lover of luxury. One of the waiters offered her a glass of champagne from his tray which she took a sip from while looking around the small crowd of about forty people for the celebrant. She took a walk across the hall towards the back of the mansion where there was a transparent wall made of glass which made the pool outside visible from where she stood.A man in suit was patrolling the perimeter of the compound. In her experience, a little bulge at the edge of the jacket meant he was

Few minutes later, the ambulance arrived, placed her on oxygen and took her to the hospital. The nurses scrambling about did nothing to ease his tension since they arrived two hours earlier.“Mr West?”A doctor asked him.“Yes.”“Please follow me.” The doctor led the way through a corridor, while his wife followed them closely behind till they got to his office.“You may have your seats.”The doctor pointed to two chairs in front of the table opposite his.“After several tests, your daughter was diagnosed of renal failure. What are you willing to offer him?”The lawyer asked.“We need to know how credible his information is before we make a deal.”Justin replied.“He will remain in your custody, while you verify the authenticity of his statement.”The lawyer said.“That’s reasonable.”Maggie replied.“But my client is asking for immediate release, an expungement of his past criminal record from the system, and the sum of five thousand dollars to help with his relocation from this city. That is after his information checks out.”The lawyer proposed.“These demands are excessive.”Jamal debated.“Then my client has nothing to say to you.”The lawyer countered.“We’

The members of the task force were seated in the conference room while Mr Ben addressed them.“I want to commend you all for a job well done yesterday. By putting a dent in the Blood gang, our office was able to make one of the biggest arrests in years, all thanks to you. After prosecuting the suspects, the city will be free of a considerable amount of illegal drugs. However, the Italian mafia are still at large. Without the bloods to operate in their territory, the Italian mafia will likely expand their operations, thereby making our efforts to be wasted. I assure you all that if you’re able to crack this case, you will be promoted. Do not relent. Continue chasing as many leads as possible. You will get a break in no time.”Mr Ben encouraged them, before he walked out of the room.“How are we to go about this? None of those we arrested were willing to talk when we interrogated them.”Justin said in dismay.“How about you ask your informant if they will be able to help us?”Maggie

I guess you enjoyed the scene you just watched.”Justin said to Bryan in his usual manner.“I would have, if not for your ugly face in it.”Bryan quipped.“Well…. You saw the whole thing yourself. It’s much more difficult to apprehend these criminals because they are always finding new ways to evade us.”Justin complained.“Yeah. They’ve known most of the tricks in our books.”Maggie supported.“There will always be a loop hole somewhere.”Bryan opined.“So far there has been none.”Jamal pointed out the obvious.“Even though the Italian mafia and the Blood gang are rivals, I have this gut feeling that there is a connection between them.”B
