"Ama, what the hell are you wearing?!"

My best friend Cassie shouted from afar as she hurried towards me.

"That's a funny question given the fact that I'm putting on clothes and you don't have an eye problem."

“Oh, quite alright, you are putting on clothes, but what do you call the disaster your legs are in?“ She fires back.

My legs? I questioned inwardly before glancing down to see what she was referring to.

"No fucking way," I whispered-yelled as I noticed the chaos I was wearing; two different shoes. It would have been a bit unnoticeable if I had at least stuck to two colours that didn't contradict each other, but my crazy and disorganized self decided to put on a black and a red shoe.

“How could you not have noticed that you were putting on two different shoes?" Cassie shouted.

"I was in a hurry. How am I supposed to know that I would make such a mistake? You should be grateful that I'm not wearing heels instead.“

“Indeed! Thank you for not letting me get a call that my best friend has been admitted into a psychiatric hospital. It's a miracle that you came to the office without anyone noticing those contradicting colours you're walking in," she said, giving my feet a scrutinizing look.

"Actually…" I started, drawing her attention from my feet to my face.

She notices the guilty look on my face immediately. “Don't tell me you were getting stares from passersby?“

I couldn't come up with a response and settled for nodding my head instead.

"Ama!" She yells.

“What? You are partly to blame for this chaos!“

"I wonder how you are so organized when it comes to working but not your personal life."

" That's why I have you.“

"Why am I still your best friend?“ She facepalmed.

“Because you love me and can never find another friend who cooks tasty dishes."

“Haha…" she laughs briefly. "It's definitely for the first reason and not the second. Tasty dishes my ass. You're supposed to be given a restricted order from the kitchen."

"I know," I squeaked. Both of us burst into laughter causing stares from workers moving around.

“Let's try to rectify this disaster first before moving to the next one. You are lucky I have a spare in the office, and we wear the same size."

"That's why I love you," I said as I squeezed her for a bear-crushing hug, making her let out a smile.

Cassie has been my best friend right from my college days. I majored in media management while she took public relations as her major. We met when we were paired for a group project in journalism and, since then, the bond between us grew.

We both walked towards my office, ignoring the stares of our co-workers. Cassie made a stop at her desk to pick up the shoes before I opened the door to my office and we went in together.

“So, what's going on?“ I asked as soon as we entered my office. I walked towards my desk and sat down on the chair as I kicked off my shoes.

“Gerald is being an ass,“ she complained,

"Tell me something I don't know already." I bent down to put on the new pair of shoes. Finally, the colours matched and I stopped looking like I was preparing to go on stage for a comedy show.

“You remember the article we're writing about Giovanni Montes?“

“Yes, I do. We are supposed to be sending it in for printing tomorrow," I reminded her.

She let out a defeated sigh before answering me. “That's where the problem lies. It's already on the front cover for today's papers.”

“How is that possible? I haven't even emailed it to Leslie.“

"That's where Gerald comes in. I was shocked to come in this morning and find out that the article had already been printed in today's papers. I thought you finished editing it on time and decided to push the publication forward but I noticed there was a difference between the write-up and ours. I decided to do some digging and I found out it was Gerald. He had an interview with Giovanni two days before us.“

"What in God's name is wrong with him? Why is he so interested in getting my work?"

"Honestly, I have no idea, Ama. I just think he is jealous."

Gerald couldn't be jealous of me. He was the head editor of the Fashion Department. He was always wanting to encroach into news concerning the Art Department. This was not the first time he had done something like this.

“He can't be jealous. He is the head editor of the Fashion Department." I shouted, throwing my hands up.

"Maybe he is being greedy?“ She asked.

"I don't know. I think this goes way beyond that and I'm going to confront him straight on."

“Are you sure that's the right thing to do?"

"What do you suggest? Sit down and let him continue his cheap games? This isn't the first time nor is it the second, Cassie. If I don't confront him, then I wouldn't know his reasons behind all these stupid games."

"I see your point. I think you also need to talk with Leslie, then. She knew the Art Department was on that project and it's majorly under our field. Why would she accept Gerald's article without asking you about it first?“

I scoffed. “That's just one more issue to add to the already existing problem. Give me a few minutes. I'm going to settle this once and for all."

“Alright! Don't be too harsh on him. If he says anything stupid, call me and I would be there to pass judgement between his legs," Cassie shouted as I left the office, making me smile.

Poor Gerald. You have no idea what's coming for you

The elevator ascended, the buttons on the dashboard lighting up as it scaled the building. Throughout the ride, I was trying my best not to scream, tapping my feet on the floor out of boredom instead. I was craving coffee more than anything. Well, this was going to be only a quick confrontation and I would have been done with it in no time. I exited the elevator and was greeted by the sight of men and women working and moving around in tight-fitted dresses and neatly pressed shirts with neckties that could choke away a quarter of their life force. I felt like throwing up. What is it with them and dressing like they were going on a runway? The fact that their job was to gather news and write articles concerning the fashion world didn't mean they needed to dress up like a stuffed turkey for Thanksgiving. Anyway, I ignored the stares they were giving me and made my way around the people dressed like the doll in the movie- the boy. My jean and shirt stood out amid these barbies. God

“What have you come up with from your investigation?“ Drew asked Mason as he watched him glide into the living room from the front door. “So far, nothing tangible“ Mason replied, shaking his head with a sad expression. “You?" “Same. No trace of us at all“ Drew was disappointed at the outcome of their investigation. They had been trying to find the reason why they were ghosts, and anything that could give them an insight into who they were before they died There were no clues to finding their bodies or even a tomb with their names on it. It seemed like someone had deliberately wiped any trace of their existence. But, why?“Let's just hope Calvin comes up with something," Mason sighed. "Hopefully . That's if he doesn't get distracted playing tricks on stubborn teenagers." “No, I just made a little diversion on the way," Calvin said from behind them.“Speak of the devil and he appears," Mason scoffed. "I would prefer you say, speak of the angel, and he flaps his wings. Why would y

I groaned as I flopped onto my back. My alarm clock was beeping, trying to get my attention. With much effort, I slung my hand down on top of the button, silencing its battle cry. I had hoped that yesterday was a nightmare that could have been easily forgotten but, to my dismay, it couldn't have been false. After my mini-battle with Gerald, I was so pissed off that I stormed out of the office and went back home. It wasn't until I got a call from Cassie asking for my whereabouts, that I realized I had forgotten to report back to her on how my interrogation with the greedy Monkey went. After explaining everything to Cassie and allowing her to let out her blazing fury towards Gerald on the phone, I had hit the bed intending to take a break from the annoying event of the day. But it seemed that my body needed more rest because my alarm was the only thing alerting me that it was a new day already. Shaking the memory of the previous day's terrors from my head, I stood up from the bed

Drew meandered out of the house through the window onto the busy street of New York. The sounds of cars honking, people shouting attempting to hail a cab and the hurried footsteps of workers on the pavements were not enough to distract him from his thoughts. He was greatly disturbed by how to find an answer to all the questions that were going through his head.Deep down he felt like a failure because he wasn't able to help his brothers in finding the truth about their identities. It has been three years already, and they still have no clue as to who they were or if they even had a family. Would they remain like this forever? "If we are dead for good, isn't there supposed to be a white light for us to go through?“ Drew grumbled. Giving up on the disturbing thoughts, he set out into the streets of New York with no destination in mind. ~~~~~ Amanda's PovI got ready for work and headed out after having a fantastic breakfast. "You're right. That is why I called this emergency meeting. Not many people are interested in getting magazines anymore, which is why I need you guys to go and brainstorm on what would be the most suitable team for this year's edition of the Times Magazine.''"Why don't we leave it to Gerald and Amanda to submit a proposal? Whatever comes out best would be used as the theme for the magazine," Rebecca, the head of Publicity suggested."That's a terrible idea,“ I countered."Why?" Leslie questioned. "If you haven't noticed we both have different theories on what is meant to be in a magazine." "This is exactly why both of you are best suited for this project. You guys are filled with lots of ideas,“ Damon chipped in. "True“ Leslie considered. “I need both of you to submit different proposals to me three weeks from now. You don't have to limit yourself to your Department." Now, why do I feel like she is giving Gerald the go-ahead to encroach into my field? The things women do for lov

I looked outside my office through the transparent glass and I could see that the sun was gone. Dark clouds formed, heavy with rain and thunder rumbled at intervals. The air felt cold.I lowered my eyes once more to my laptop and I continued with my work. I was trying to finalize the article which I was writing for the papers tomorrow. The Truth behind Susan Collins's divorce with Evans Lockwood, Revealed. Every paper company in New York knew that securing an interview with Susan was near impossible. I was glad when she called my number requesting to have one for the Times Paper. I guess the rumors concerning her divorce from her ex-husband were beginning to affect her career, and she had to clear the air. There was a knock on my door, so I looked up to see Cassie popping her head inside my office. "Hey, just want to let you know I'm clocking out for the day.“ “Oh, what time is it?“ "It's six o'clock already and I'm pretty sure the weather is not going to be friendly this eveni

  • Ghost Chefs   Chapter 11

I opened my eyes to the bright sun that was shining through the slits of my blinds. It was morning already. The incident of the previous night was still fresh in my mind as I rolled over on my bed. What happened was still a mystery to me. The words of the security guy never departed from my head. Miss, are you sure it wasn't the cleaner who came to your apartment? Turned out my kitchen, which looked like an earthquake had happened in it, had magically become a relaxation centre. It looked like I was hallucinating the whole incident of broken eggs and flour. There wasn't even a speck of dust in my kitchen and believe me, I couldn't remember cleaning it to that extent. Hell, I couldn't even remember the last time I cleaned it at all! Hence, I was beginning to feel that my house was haunted. I got up from my bed and went into the bathroom to brush my teeth after which I took a bath. Today was a Saturday, so I wouldn't have to go to work. Putting on a short and singlet, I walked to the

I placed the cake pan in the oven and set the timer for forty-five minutes. At least I decided to stick to one instruction from the cookbook. I settled down on a stool by the kitchen island to read a book as I sipped my coffee and waited for the timer to go off.A trip to the supermarket would be needed later to get some supplies for the house since someone decided to raid my refrigerator. Forty-five minutes later, the timer of the oven went off. I was filled with joy as I jumped down from the stool and rushed to check my masterpiece. I brought out the cake from the oven and the first thing that hit me was the fragrance. Why does it smell like strawberry? That was weird. I didn't remember putting strawberries in it. I let the cake cool down before I took a bite. Blast! It tastes wonderful! This wasn't what I was expecting. I know I deliberately messed up the procedure. Why was the cake perfect then? I left the cake on the kitchen island and hurried to check the items I used in prep

“Shit," I muttered under my breath, avoiding eye contact with Leslie. I couldn't believe the kind of shitty luck I had. The very person whom I was trying to avoid, stood before me. There was no way for me to escape so I garnered what was left of my courage to face her. “Hey, Leslie. It's surprising to see you here this early," I said, laughing awkwardly. Leslie gave me a stern look. “Indeed,” She smirked.“Botox bitch," I muttered under my breath. “So, do you need my help with anything?" I asked her. Even though I was late, it was surprising to see her on this floor so early in the morning. There must have been a reason why she had decided to grace us with her unwilling presence. “Well, I needed to check on a particular person to see how far they had gone with the upcoming project. But, imagine my surprise when I found the office empty with neither the assistant nor Editor in sight,“ she said I sighed. “Sorry, I am late. But the reasons are beyond my power. There was nothing I

His hands held the sides of my head as he began thrusting into my mouth, loud grunts leaving his mouth. His head was tipped backwards in pleasure and his moans were driving me nuts with pleasure. There was a feeling of pride in hearing him express the effect I had on him through his moans. It was fuel for me to do more. I took more of him into my mouth as my hands moved down between my legs to pleasure myself.I could feel he was close to the edge and I rubbed myself quickly, hoping to come along with him. Within seconds, he stiffened and I could feel warm liquid slip into my mouth. My orgasm hit me immediately like a wave and my legs shook with pleasure. I took all of his cum, swallowing them and not letting any slip out of my mouth. “God, you are incredible,“ Drew muttered, watching me swallow his cum. I giggled in response, standing up from my kneeling position. “Come here," he commanded, drawing me close to him. He kissed me deeply and senselessly. “You are going to be the deat

I ran the water in my bathroom, hoping to take a quick shower before going to work. The coffee had helped in waking my sleepy bones but I still felt weak. If only I could spend the day indoors and not go to work, I thought. But that would never happen. Leslie would see it as an opportunity to chastise me and give me a query. That was something I wasn't interested in. The water heated up and I quickly jumped into the shower. I squeezed a reasonable amount of my shower gel into my hands and applied it to my body. I didn't bother with washing my hair because that would take more of my time which was the opposite of what I wanted to achieve. After applying the shower gel to my body, I ducked my head under the shower to rinse the soap off. The action prompted me to close my eyes to prevent the soapy water from entering them. I felt a hand wrap around my waist and I jumped in shock thinking an intruder had entered my house. I opened my eyes quickly to see who it was, forgetting that I st

I woke up the next morning to an empty bed. My head felt like there were so many pins attached to it and I couldn't make clear what happened the previous night. I was tired and felt like I had been run over by a truck. Fuck, I am never letting Cassie take me clubbing again. I muttered "I support that idea," Drew chuckled, walking into my room with a cup of coffee. He was shirtless and I got a flashback of what happened the previous night. He had given me the best orgasm of my life and unfortunately I had slept off after it. My body was exhausted. Although the release had helped in calming down the stress hormones raging around me. Drew strolled towards me and handed the coffee to me. I smiled and gladly took it from his hands, muttering a thank you. I blew on the hot coffee and took a sip. God, it was marvelous. I moaned in satisfaction, enjoying how he took great precaution in making it just how I loved it. “God, this is amazing,“ I moaned. Drew chuckled. “Only you think that

Drew leaned forward slowly, eyeing my lips, seeking permission to ask for more. I didn't deny him. I let him indulge just as I was enjoying the indulgence myself. We connected again and continued kissing on my bed. I slid further into the bed drawing him along with me. The kiss altered from rough to slow and sensual. I had to give him credit for being able to bring me to my knees with a kiss. His hands continued to explore my body. They ran the length of my body, cupping my breast and I ached into him. He dragged his hands down my abdomen, then further down my leg before he slowly slid up my thighs leaving a trail of fire in their path. A pool of wetness gathered between my thighs as I waited in anticipation for his hands to get to their destination. I spread my legs further apart giving him the permission he needed to touch me deeply. I have craved this for so long and it was about to happen. I couldn't help but Iean into his touch. A soft moan escaped me as he sucked on my bottom

“Damn, your body is a pure work of art," Drew groaned, his hands roaming around my naked flesh. "I could touch it every day without getting satisfied,“ he added, his hands coming up to knead my breasts. Somewhere along the line, our position on the sofa had changed. I was sitting on his lap, my back resting on his hard chest. I could feel the heat radiating from his skin onto mine. I leaned back into him, tilting my head to the side so he could have full access to my body. I was already far gone and there was no way I was going to be listening to any rational thoughts coming from my brain. I was acting plainly on what my body wanted. I needed to be satisfied after being starved of this pleasure for months. I ground myself on him and he placed a hand on my waist to stop me. I made a sound of disappointment, not liking that he had cut my mission short. “Slow down, babe. We will get there. Let me appreciate your body first," he stated. "I dont need any of that. Just touch me," I dem

I walked into my apartment to meet it the same way I had left it. There was no sign of Drew and I wondered if he had forgotten his way to my place. That can't happen because this was somewhere he and his brothers had stayed for years. Maybe he went to get something I concluded. With that thought in mind I meandered to my bedroom to rid myself of the clothes I was wearing. Cassie had gone all out with my birthday attire. lt was a gift from her and she had pleaded for me to wear it to the party. It was a beautiful black gown that clung to my body and accentuated my curves. I had loved it immediately I saw it but there was no fun if I had just put it on without stressing Cassie a bit. I stumbled into my bedroom, flinging the shoes in the process. Damn, those heels had been killing me all through the night. When I had been dancing with it, I hadn't felt the pain but now that my legs were no longer in motion, it felt like there was no flow of blood to my legs. I quickly stripped myself

"What the fuck is going on?“ I muttered under my breath. There was no way it was possible that Cassie could see Drew. This was the very same person she didn't know was hovering over her head at my office, a few months back. How is it possible that she was able to see him? “Hey, Ama. Aren't you going to introduce him to me?" She asked, giggling.Drew laughed. “Guess, your friend is way more drunk than you," he whistled.“Shut up, Drew. I am trying to process this situation," I barked. He laughed. “What's there to process? Your friend is drunk which explains why she can see me. Or, is there any other explanation?“ He asked.I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, you are right," I agreed. “So, would you do me the honours or I should do it myself?“ He asked, grinning. “What are you talking about?“ I asked, confused. Drew rolled his eyes. "I forgot that you were drunk also," he muttered. I snorted “What? No way. I am not drunk, okay?“ “Yeah, you waving like a flag is an illusion," he replied, sarc

"Umm, hey Cas. I am going to head back home now. I am a bit tired and tipsy from all the alcohol," I told her, catching up to her at the bar. “What? Why? We are just getting started on your birthday party. You can't leave before everyone,“ she said, her eyes heavy with alcohol. “Seriously, Cas. We have been drinking and partying for more than five hours now. The alcohol in you is not making you think logically. I think it's time we call it a night," I told her, taking the drink from her and returning it to the bartender. “Come on, Ama That's my drink," she whined. “No, it isn't. You need to stop and go home now. We have work to do tomorrow and I wouldn't want both of us to be dead drunk before then. Not like we aren't drunk already,“ I said, muttering the last part to myself. “Fine," she grumbled, leaving the bar. “Let me get my purse and say goodbye to the others," she said.“Sure. That sounds fine to me. I need to also thank them for coming,” I said following after her to the V
