Amelia;
Amelia wiped the excess sweat that dripped from her face, at the same time, tucking her Brunette, frizzy hair beneath her ear. Her hands moved all over the place as fast as possible, washing dishes, rinsing, drying, and handing them over to Stephanie, all at the same time. Her thin lips curved into a smile as she grabbed the last dish on the sink, washing it with her heart filled with ecstasy. That was the feeling she got whenever she was dealing with the last dish. She would have time to sit for a while to rest her aching legs, waiting patiently for the next set of dirty dishes to be dropped.As she was about to wipe the dish dry, another set of dishes were dumped on the sink. Her euphoria instantly turned into fury and irritation. Nevertheless, she exhaled rapidly, picked up the first dish with a massive lump in her throat, and began scrubbing off the stains from it.“Hurry!” Amelia heard from behind, causing her to jolt in fear, which resulted in her splashing a bit of soapy water on her face. She squinted her eyes, luckily it didn't affect her so badly. “Amelia, there are countless customers out there, and you are just here, playing around” “No ma'am, ” Amelia replied sharply. She knew how cranky and furious Mrs. Davies could get, and wasn't willing to get on her bad side. Amelia's pay was already too little. If it got reduced even by a dollar, that would make it amount to nothing. Her day was already bad, she couldn't worsen it for herself.“Then hurry would you?” Although Amelia was already washing at a fast pace, she still had to wash faster to make Mrs. Davies satisfied. Plus she hated the grimace on the middle-aged woman's face as stared at her. Her downturned lips was one that never curved up to a smile, even around customers. “Now when you're done, take over from Gary, take the orders, and deliver the food,” Mrs. Davies said with her brown slightly wrinkled eyes not leaving her.“What's wrong with Gary?” Amelia asked in confusion, turning to look at her boss.“That ungrateful bastard had been fired! You mind your own business now!" Mrs. Davies snapped at her and she flinched, instantly regretting why she asked that question in the first place.Gary was one of the most hard-working colleague and hell knows why Mrs. Davies fired him. In fact, Amelia would have quit if she could, but no, she had to save money for her college and that was the only job she could find. Did she hate it, yes. Could she afford to loose it? That was a big no!When Amelia was done, she cleaned her hands dry on her little red apron. One look at herself from top to button made her sigh. She didn't look the part. Her hair was messed up, having ignored it for years. The shoes on her legs were coated in faded fake leather that was slowly falling apart. Her skin looked pale and her body looked skinny. Not in a model-like way, but in a malnourished way.How on earth could she explain to Mrs. Davies that the reason she preferred not to take orders was that she looked like a kindergarten child who just lost a fight? She would kiss her job goodbye the moment those words escaped from her lips. Amelia removed her toque Blanche which barely covered any of her hair. She didn't need the hat, judging from the fact that she wasn't the one preparing the orders. Mrs. Davies just made sure all the employees working in the kitchen wore it. She was indeed particular about a customer not finding a strand of hair lying on their food. If a customer happens to complain about something in their food, and you were the one in charge of the food delivery, It was a goodbye to your complete payment. That was the reason Amelia despised taking and serving orders.Nevertheless, she braced herself, exhaled sharply, and Brought alongside a notepad as she made her way out of the kitchen. Her social anxiety wasn't making it easy for her as beads of sweat gathered on her forehead. She gulped the moment she caught sight of the large number of people situated at the restaurant. She didn't even want to get started with the ones that sat outside as a result of the scarcity of seats.Yes, Davies restaurant was that popular. Being one of the biggest, most affordable, and most efficient restaurants in California, every average living person who stayed around, went there regularly.At the corner of the restaurant hung a television which had Xavier Garcia on it. She didn't know what he was saying and she didn't care to know. Being the 7th richest man in the world, he always had a way of pissing her off. As a matter of fact, Amelia had a thing against all rich people. She despised how they carried themselves and how they occasionally threw money around when there were poor people on the street who could barely afford to eat.Xavier Garcia was like the american sweetheart. He had the looks and the wealth any woman would die for, but not her . She saw him as an arrogant prideful man. She even resisted the urge to go over to the television and switch off, but she didn't want to attract Mrs Davies's wrath. Amelia walked to the first table that was closest to the kitchen. She brought out a pen from her apron pocket, looking up to take the order of the customer. The moment she saw who it was, she almost erupted into laughter. There he was grinning intently at her, at the same time, throwing eyebrow flashes. She mentally facepalmed herself as she looked at him tiredly.“Are you planning on getting me fired?”“Now why would I?” peter, her friend smirked, faking a British accent“Then what are you doing here?” Amelia whispered, looking around stealthily to see if Mrs. Davies was lurking around, looking for whom to devour.“I came to have coffee,” he said, leaning back in his seat. “Are you being serious, peter? You hardly visit restaurants and you hate coffee”“People change” he shrugged“What would you like to have?” she sighed in exasperation.“Just know I would be killing you later on”“How polite,” he remarked, sarcastically, and Amelia rolled her eyes at him. “I already told you, coffee,” he said.Amelia shook her head as she walked past him, making her way to the next table. She settled in front of a table that was occupied by a man she had never seen at Davies before. If Amelia wasn't misjudging, then this man was definitely a well-to-do man. He looked too fancy to be at a restaurant like that. Ranging from his perfectly groomed black hair, down to his expensive tuxedo. She also caught a slight peak at his shoe and just as she had expected, it looked priceless. He seemed busy with his phone, which resulted in her clearing her throat to get his attention. “What would you like to have sir?” she asked, holding her notebook firmly and looking at him with a slight smile on her face. She needed to be polite if she wanted the customers to return. That was what Mrs. Davies always said. It was her restaurant, after all.He looked at her for a while without saying anything. It went from just a glance to an extreme stare. Awkwardness stirred inside her as she tried her best not to peel her eyes off his awkward stare.“What would you like to order? sir," she asked again, this time louder to ensure that he heard her.“Have a seat” he said instead. Amelia looked at him in disbelief.“I can't sit, I have to attend to other customers” wrong excuse. The main problem was if Mrs. Davies walked in on her sitting with a customer, she didn't even want to think about what might happen.“Then you can stand then” he stated, and she nodded awkwardly. “My name is Lucas and I want to let you on a deal”“Pardon?”"Turn around and look at the television" he instructed. Even though he sounded so authoritative, that didn't stop her from turning around.Her eyebrows knitted into a scolw as she stared at Xavier still on the news. "What does he have to do with this" She asked the man who watched her closely. He parted his lips to speak after some time.“On behalf of my brother, Xavier Garcia, I’d like to propose to you.”Hey guys, it's the author. Thank you for choosing this book. Please stick to the end. Xavier;He stared with casual demeanor at the lady in front of him taking seductive strides towards him with the sly grin not leaving her face, the girl- what’s her name? he couldn't remember The Lady knew she had to do a good job if she wanted him to herself. She tangled a piece of her hair against her index finger as she bit her lips, looking intently at him. She couldn't wait to run her hands through his well-groomed taper fade haircut, messing it up to her satisfaction. His green eyes held indifference, but that didn't stop her. She had a mission and was determined to pull through.She grabbed him by the tie as she giggled slightly. She spread her legs, placing her thigh against his lap. When she was finally settled, she began to glide slowly and precisely, making sure he was leaning against the chair. His face still held nothing. She seems to begin to panic slightly. This was an opportunity that was finally given to her, but she was messing it up. XAVIER FELT NOTHING. The feeli
Amelia looked at him in skepticism as he kept on going. The offer was tantalizing, but she wasn't buying it. She needed money, that was her ultimate priority, but she couldn't just jump on the offer because it has d good terms.“So, what do you think?” the gentleman in front of her asked, snapping his fingers in her face, bringing her back from little doubt paradise. He must have realized that she wasn't listening.“Who is getting married?” She asked. That had to be the first statement that made its way out of her mouth after a long time of silence.“Xavier Garcia”“And he wants a wife, only for a year, why?”“Reasons best known to him,” he shrugged at her“No sexual intimacy?”“I already stated that”“Why me and how did you find me?”“I have been to 16 restaurants in the past 2 days”“Searching for a girl?”“Exactly”“Why didn't you pick one from the sixteen restaurants you went to”“It pretty hard to convince people who live in California”“And you just think I looked stupid enough”
Chapter 4****************Amelia looked down at her worn-out jean trousers as his peering eyes were boring holes into her. She never really ceased to amaze herself. A couple of days back, she had been screaming negatively regarding the whole deal, but here she was, waiting patiently for her supposed interview.She hadn't told anyone about it. Scrap that, she didn't have anybody to tell about her new move. Apart from Wendy, her best friend who didn't know anything about it. No family member to take advice from and no one to give her a motherly view regarding the contract, judging from the fact that her mother died in an accident that occurred 10 years ago. Amelia acted okay, but deep down, she still felt the sting that the wounds in her heart brought. The memory was still fresh in her head because she was in the car when the accident happened. It was raining that day. Her mum wasn't with her glasses, and that was partly Amelia's fault. ****Flashback******"Amelia, please grab my glass
“It's a marriage, and you don't expect me to jump into it without at least knowing anything about it” He leaned back on his couch, taking a sip from his glass. Bacardi, to be precise. “Everything will be stated in the contract” “The contract isn't enough. I would like to know more about you”. “I'm Xavier Garcia, I assume you already know” “No, I want to know more than just your name” she sighed. He was being impossible and that wasn't helping. “You haven't even asked to know anything about me. I thought this was supposed to be an interview”. “No one stated that it was going to be an interview. The offer clearly stated marriage, and you meet my standards”. “I thought you said I wasn't your type” she smirked, squaring her shoulder “And you still aren't” “But…” She sighed in frustration. “Never mind. How will the marriage take place?”. “As soon as you sign the contract, you would be moving in with me, and we shall begin the marriage plans. You would have to see my parents first,
“Who are you getting married to?”. Wendy asked in a calmer tone.“Uhmm, a certain” Amelia squinted her eyes as she racked her head trying her best to remember his name. “Xavier Garcia” she finally blurted out and Wendy's face widened in astonishment “Who?” She asked again, as though she didn't get what Amelia had said. “Xavier Garcia” “Oh my God, Ami” was the only word that could make its way out of her puzzled lips as she looked at confused Amelia“This is unbelievable” she exclaimed and ran out of the kitchen to her room, leaving Amelia perplexed. She returned shortly with her laptop in her hands, laid it on the kitchen cabinets, and beckoned on Amelia.“Is this him?” she pointed at the screen and Amelia immediately recognized him. It was a picture of him in what seemed like a red carpet-event. He had on a blue tuxedo, with one hand dipped into his pocket and the other on his tie. His eyes were transfixed directly on the camera and for some reason, Amelia felt like he was looking
*****Different feelings erupted inside her as soon as he blurted out those words. 'Xavier's wife' that word, in particular, kept on ringing in her head. She couldn't face the fact that she was getting married. The thrills began coursing through her body just by thinking about it. The reality of her being married finally hit her. All this while she hadn't been thinking of the marriage itself and all, she just kept her mind circulated with the before-marriage details, leaving out what might happen during the one-year agreement. The thought of leaving her name, Wilson, and bearing Garcia stirred something in her, but she couldn't decipher what. She would be appearing in media and all as his newly wedded wife. That was the reality she wasn't ready to face.It was quite surprising how she had already started adopting a certain kind of trust for him, even without knowing much about him. She believed him so much when he said there would be no sexual activities, and it was something she rar
As Xavier gazed at her, she longed to know what went on in his head. He was at it again. He was trapping her with his gaze. She felt powerless as she gaped back into those green eyes that couldn't be unraveled. The way he stayed silent drove her insane. The situation soon changed from a usual quietness to an uneasy one. She looked down at the floor, her sight drawn away from his scorching glare.“Meet me downstairs,” he instructed coldly, turning to leave, but he suddenly stopped “and also, next time you feel crazy, shut the door. Some actions are painful to watch,” he said with his back still turned against her. She bit her lips nervously waiting for him to leave, so she could bang her head against the wall or something to punish herself for her folly.The time finally came, he left the room, and she abruptly grabbed a pillow that lay on the bed, screamed into it, taking her anger out on it. She ran her hands through her hair, messing it up. *So much for giving off a better impressi
“Wedding dress, check” Amelia mumbled, lying comfortably on her bed, staring at the chandelier that hung on the ceiling. “Meeting his parents” she hesitated. “Not checked”The thought of meeting his parents made her sick to the stomach. Being with rich people was something she had never done in her life. She wasn't only going to meet with them, but also dine with them, chat with them, and probably sleep over for a few days. Xavier didn't make that part a certainty, but she knew it was likely going to happen. There was no way they wouldn't want to know more about her. A thorough assessment would be done, and she wondered how she would cope with that. Xavier had already asked her to work on her acting skills. That, she was excellent at, but she was most definitely not good at lying. It was one of her biggest weaknessesTossing to the other side of the bed, she sighed in exasperation. Subsequently, the thought of Wendy brushed through her mind. She hadn't called her since she got here,
A/Nso this is the end guys. Thank you all for sticking till this chapter. Five years later.Amelia took hasty steps as she rolled her bags down the airport. Her heart was filled with ease to the point of her thinking it was going to explode. She tried to keep her smile in check but it was all over the place. She reminisced the last time she saw them and that doubled her happinessShe kept thinking of wrapping her arms around Xavier's. It had been A year since she last saw him and it felt like forever. She thought about Kingsley, her son and the smile widened.“Hey watch it" an angry old lady scolded her.Amelia gave off a nervous smile, but the woman glared at her as she walked past her.“Jeez, y'all need to tone down the makeup a bit" muttered Amelia under her breath. She was talking about the loud lipstick the lady had on her lips.She continued rolling her box with her ecstasy not reduced a bit.“Mum!" she heard from afar and her heart leaped for joy. She turned to the direction t
“While I thought about coping with the divorce and everything, I was also thinking of how to take care of the baby growing inside me” she touched her stomach as she turned to look at Xavier. "Yes my love, I am 6 weeks gone” she blurted out and watched as Xavier's eyes widened in shock."Oh my God,” Daphne squealed."Did you know this?” Lucas nudged Xavier who appeared too stunned to speak?"How the fuck do you think I'd know?”."You are the husband duh,” Erica said with a chuckle.Amelia walked towards Xavier and he gave her a warm hug. A child was the least he expected, but he didn't care. As long as it was coming from Amelia.He kissed her and she kissed him back. It was a short kiss, but she still felt the fire rippling inside of her."Aww,” Erica awed. "Now all this makes me wanna have a baby”."We could always arrange that,” Lucas saidPeter who stood by the side with a smile on his face and a glass of drink in his hands was tapped by Wendy.“Oh, Wendy" he called out, taking a goo
Amelia walked down the stairs with her eyes red and puffy. It was the day the contract marriage was supposed to end. Xavier had told her the previous day to get ready for the divorce the next day. She was devastated. She had thought he wasn't going to carry on with the divorce, but she thought wrong.How the hell was she going to raise his child by herself? She knew if they got a divorce, she wouldn't be able to stand him after that.“You are wearing that?" Amelia heard his voice and she raised her head to look at him. He was dressed in a black tuxedo and it made her wonder if it wasn't a divorce they were going for.She was dressed in her regular wear. Her hair was wrapped in a bun and her face held no makeup. Xavier looked like the handsome organized man he was known to be while she on the other hand looked like a dog's vomit.“I don't see why I shouldn't " her voice was raspy. That was the effect of crying her eyes the previous night. “The last time I checked, we are going to a divo
Xavier couldn't help but smile as he took steady sips from his glass. He was at the bar and for the first time, he felt at ease. He didn't have anything to worry about. His mind was at rest. He didn't need to worry because his major problem of over 10 years was gone.The chair beside him was tugged and he turned to look who it was. Just as he had expected, he saw Lucas. He had texted him to come over, but he didn't think Lucas would come along with Erica.“You look happy," Erica pointed out. “Well I'm glad we didn't meet the cranky side of you"“Why wouldn't he be happy? Martin is gone, Hardin is gone and he has a beautiful woman to go back to after all the day's stress"“Oh no," Xavier laughed.“That's true"“What part of your bed does she keep warm?" Lucas teased.“No part" Xavier blurted out.“Woah you guys haven't done it yet?" Erica's eyes widened in surprise.“No, we have. It's just that..."“So you guys have done it for then. I thought this was supposed to be a contract marriage
The weather was cold. Cold enough to commit murder effortlessly. Xavier fastened his gun to his trousers and brought down his suit to make it invisible.After countless efforts to reach Martin, he finally agreed to meet with Xavier. Xavier made it seem like he was going to fix all the grudges that they had, but he wasn't stupid to do that. He was going to end Martin once and for all.He had already caused Xavier too much pain.They decided to meet in an open field. It was Xavier's idea. He wanted a place big enough to contain his wrath while he rains it down on MartinMartin stood at a distance, backing the vehicle. As Xavier walked toward him, he stayed alert because he knew how sly Martin could be. He could pull up a Glock out of nowhere.“I didn't think you would show up," Martin turned to look at Xavier.There was an annoying smirk on his face which Xavier wanted to desperately smack off with a punch, but he needed to keep his cool if at all he wanted his plans to work.“You know I
Amelia didn't bother giving Peter a call. She just showed up at his pub. She knew if she called him, he might find a way to get her off his back, but today was going to be different. She was going to find out everything that was wrong with him. The peter she knew wouldn't just distance himself from everybody if the reason wasn't vital.“Amelia?" Peter called out as he looked at her in disbelief.She was also stunned to see him with trimmed hair. All his long, healthy hair was gone.“ What are you doing here Amelia?” he asked."You cut your hair?“He sighed, setting down the glass he was cleaning. It was obvious he didn't want her here.Peter regretted coming to the pub that day. He should have listened to his instincts and just stayed home. Now he had to answer the numerous questions she had. He knew Amelia was surely going to ask a lot of questions."I thought it'd look better”"You look pale”"I've been skipping vegetables in my meal” he replied plainly and Amelia gave him a 'are you
“If it was me, you would do the same," Lucas said in his defense. “That's not the point," Xavier said“Then what is?"“You should have told me"“What would you have done from the hospital bed? Even if you want to get him now. Bad news, he is missing"“What?" Xavier let out.“You heard me. I tried to take him back after he escaped from Amelia, but he is missing"“Where the fuck did he go?"“Another state, town or even another country. We should only pray he is far enough from us"Xavier sighed in frustration as he leaned back on his seat. “I don't understand how someone can be so relentless."“You did kill his boyfriend."“He tried to kill my wife"“And you think he cares about that?".“What the fuck does he want?"“You know he wants you dead”"A reasonable person would have given up a long time ago”"Martin is not reasonable, especially when he wants something. He acts mentally deranged sometimes”"He doesn't act, he is mentally deranged”Xavier said nothing for a while before speakin
Erica didn't die even after everyone had concluded that she was as good as dead. It took her one whole month for her to wake up and during that time, Xavier was discharged from the hospital. Surprisingly Martin didn't do anything even when Amelia thought he would.Xavier had healed properly and was already up on his feet. Although Amelia was not in support of Xavier going back to work, he didn't care. She cared about his health. Xavier on the other hand felt he was good and fit enough. Truly he was, but Amelia was paranoid that something could happen to him.Xavier was not aware of the Martin issue. He didn't know his wife had once adopted his worse enemy and he had no idea Erica was in the hospital because of that same man. Amelia didn't tell him, following Lucas's orders. Lucas knew how crazy his brother would get if he heard about it.Lucas wasn't trying to protect Xavier. He had the same mindset as Amelia. They both wanted him to heal first. The doctor said he wasn't healed complet
After Amelia had given Ken her order, he walked in to kill Martin.He pulled the trigger as he sauntered towards Martin. He knew how sly Martin was and he wanted to end him before starting a conversation with him.“And you are just going to do as she asked?”"Shut the fuck up or you will be dead sooner than expected.“"And what do you think you will achieve after this?”"I will succeed in keeping this mouth of yours shut for once”"And you are still going to keep taking orders”"As long as I get my pay after that” "is that what you leave for now? Looking forward to your pay at the end of the month? “Ken chuckled, “I don't think you understand”. He brought out the key of the cuffs and showed it to Martin. I have the power to keep you there for as long as I want and I also have the power to set you free. Guess what other power I have. I have the power to end you if I want” Ken smiled proudly."Remember when you tortured me to give off vital information? You were relentless. I remembere
