Nick had to admit the wings were great. They quickly chatted about the town council meeting the sheriff had to attend earlier that day. The DJ came on to the mic.
“Hey folks, we’re just a few minutes away from Garvey’s Annual Wet Nightie Contest,” the DJ said.
Men whistled and hollered.
“But, first we have a special treat. We have another Garvey girl in our midst. Give a big howdy a doo to Gabriella,” the DJ said.
Everyone applauded as the lights dimmed and Gabriella appeared on stage. The girl could actually sing. Nick enjoyed it and Goldman definitely did.
She gyrated and grinded to the beat.
The sheriff looked down at his plate.
“What’s wrong?” Nick asked over the music.
“It’s a little uncomfortable for me to watch a young lady who’s going to be related to me gyrating on a stage half naked,” the sheriff answered and drank the rest of his beer.
“I understand,” Nick said.
Sandy came back to the table with three more beers. “Ready for a refill?”
“Sure,” Goldman said as he continued to watch Gabriella on stage.
Sandy set the fresh beer down and picked up the empty beer mugs. “You boys got two more shots left. Drink up.”
“Nah, I’m pretty relaxed, now. Is Jodi still in the back?” the sheriff asked.
“Yeah, she’s . . . making sure that everything is running smoothly. She’ll be out sooner than you can say, hey,” Sandy said.
Something’s up, Nick thought. Why wouldn’t Jodi come out for five minutes to say hello to him? Unless they haven’t told her the sheriff was here.
“Just take a little sip. We want you feeling good when Jodi comes out,” she said.
Gabriella’s song ended.
“One more, General. You and me. You’re not driven’,” Goldman said.
“All right, but that’s it,” the sheriff said.
Nick watched them as they downed the liquid. Sandy walked away without saying a word. Everyone applauded and hollered for Gabriella.
“Thank you. Now we’re going to do the raffle for the contest. We’re going to select the numbers of five gentlemen to hose our contestants down!” she said with excitement.
The men went crazy with catcalls and cheers. Goldman pulled his raffle tickets out of his pocket. Lance got on stage with a fishbowl full of blue raffle tickets. Gabriella pulled out each ticket and announced the numbers. The guys that were selected went crazy. Another bouncer, Nick didn’t know, handed them large seltzer bottles.
She pulled out the final ticket. “009355,” she said.
“Shit!” Goldman shouted in disappointment while another man cheered at the bar.
It was Jesse, the moonshiner. Nick could see Jesse’s bald head bebopping to the front of the stage. Jesse was handed a seltzer bottle.
The sheriff laughed. “I should have known Lady Luck wasn’t going to leave Jesse out of this.”
“Oh, well,” Goldman slurred. “At least we’ll enjoy the show.”
Six bouncers stood behind the men with the bottles.
“All right, here are the rules. Fellas, you’re allowed to spray any contestant anywhere to get her drip and wet,” the DJ said. “No grabbing or trying to touch the contestants unless they make it very clear that they want you to. After all the contestants show their stuff, the winners will be determined by crowd applause and cheers. First prize $700, second prize $500, and third prize $200. Don’t worry about running out of water guys. We got plenty of bottles.”
Everyone cheered, including the women.
“Before we get the official contest underway, we got a warm-up act. Our five chosen sprayers will get to practice their aim on her,” Gabriella said on the mic.
The men with the bottles cheered.
“You boys better enjoy this because she’ll be a married woman soon,” Gabriella announced.
Goldman and Nick slowly looked at the sheriff.
The sheriff froze with a celery stick in his hand. He glared at the stage.
“Garvey’s own, Jodi!” Gabriella announced.
The crowd yelled. The music kicked in. Jodi sprung on stage wearing a white nightie. Gabriella and the DJ started a duet. Jodi presented herself to the sprayers. She started turning around as they began to douse her with liquid.
“Damn it!” the sheriff yelled as he shot up from his seat and slapped the celery stick in the basket.
Nick made sure the cuffs of his shirt were rolled up tight over his muscles because he knew all hell was about to break loose.
“General, you’re not going to get to her in this crowd,” Goldman slurred, trying to get the sheriff to see reason.
Fire was in the sheriff’s eyes. “You want a bet?” he said and headed for the stage.
“Come on. We might have to stop him from knocking out one of those guys with the bottles,” Nick said and got up.
Goldman stood. “He can only do so much damage. He’s staggering already.”
Nick and Goldman wedged through the crowd to follow their leader. Goldman was right. The sheriff got half way to the stage and had to stop for a second. However, his fuzzy head didn’t discourage his pursuit.
“I’m too buzzed for this shit!” Goldman yelled over the music.
The crowd started chanting Jodi’s name.
The sheriff made it to the stage. Goldman and Nick were right behind him. The men with the seltzer bottles recognized the sheriff and stopped spraying. Jodi had her back turned as she shook her booty on stage.
“Hey, cuz, look who came to enjoy the show,” Gabriella said on the mic.
Jodi turned around and saw her fiancé staring at her with his arms crossed. She froze.
They didn’t tell her he was here. The staff tried to get him drunk so he wouldn’t be that mad. Then again, it isn’t entirely their fault. Why does Jodi do things like this? She knows how possessive he is about her.
Jodi slowly gyrated closer to him with her fingertip in her mouth. It looked like the sheriff was going to grab her, but she was too fast for him. Jodi grabbed his black Stetson, backed up, and placed it on her head.
Everyone laughed and cheered.
“You gotta be faster than that,” Gabriella goaded on the mic.
The sheriff’s motor functions were not at their peak. He wasn’t drunk, but he wasn’t feeling any pain either.
Jodi strutted around the stage in clear heels as she looked at the sheriff.
“Ride em’ cowgirl,” Gabriella cheered on the mic.
The sheer white cloth exposed her body. Her nipples were dark and hard. She wore a white thong. Jodi was soaked from head to toe.
“Jesus,” Goldman mumbled as he stared at her.
The sheriff had enough. He crocked his finger for her to come to him. Jodi slowly strolled to him. He gathered his faculties enough to grab Jodi and take his hat back in one move. He put his hat back on as he holstered Jodi over his shoulder.
The crowd laughed, cheered, and applauded.
He turned to his deputies and said, “I’ll catch up with you boys, later. Enjoy the rest of the show.” He walked away.
Men whistled.
Jodi looked up and waved goodbye to everyone.
“I know he’s going to have a good night!” a man yelled.
The men cheered and whistled again.
As the sheriff carted Jodi off, a sultry voice came on the mic. “That’s what I call the long arm of the law.”
The crowd cheered and catcalled again.
Nick and Goldman turned around to face the stage.
Nick’s mouth dropped open when he saw Jackie standing on stage. Her dark, natural curly hair cascaded down her shoulders. She wore a black teddy with black high heel shoes. Nick’s eyes widened at the sight of her. He knew the contest hadn’t started yet, but Jackie had to be the hottest woman in the room. Her long light hue legs and hips were magnificent. Nick felt a familiar twitch in his pants. It was rising. Jackie’s voice was like velvet on the mic. He continued to gawk at her. “Dalton!” Goldman yelled. Nick snapped out of the haze he was in. “What?” Goldman smirked. “Close your mouth.” He frowned at him. “Not bad for - what did you call her? A rigid anal repressive,” Goldman teased. Nick didn’t know what to say. “You may as well shake that bulge off. You said yourself, she hates you. You’re not getting any from her.” Nick felt an excitement that he hadn’
Jackie was a discrete creature by nature. She did not boast about her accomplishments or personal conquests. But this time – she had to. The next morning she told Jodi, Barbara, Becky, Trina, and Gabriella what had happened behind the station last night. The girls whaled with laughter.“I can’t believe you did that,” Gabriella said with tears in her eyes. “That sounds like something I would do.” She continued to laugh.“That’s what he gets,” Becky said with a smirk. “You’re not rigid. You’re detail oriented. That’s why this place runs as smoothly as it does.”Barbara and Jodi were still laughing.“I don’t know what’s funnier. That guy getting pissed when you started moaning Curt’s name or you calling him out afterward,” Gabriella said. “What was his name again?”“Nick Dalton,” Jodi answered between laughs. “Oh, sister, I always tried to warn people not to get on your bad side.”Jackie beamed proudly. “Yes, I have to say I handled both men with accurate precession.”Trina chuckled. “Po
It was Saturday night at Garvey’s. The customers were still talking about the wet nightie contest from last night. It was 9:30 p.m. Garvey’s wasn’t over capacity like it was last night, but the staff was still busy. Jackie helped Trina at the bar. Jodi helped Daniel in the kitchen. Gabriella waited tables with Becky and Sandy. Gabriella sat down a drink order for two men and two women at a booth. She turned to head back to the bar when she noticed Jeff Goldman and Nick Dalton walk in with three brunettes. The three brunettes were all over Nick. Jeff proudly grinned. Gabriella’s curiosity got the best of her. She put a smile on her face and headed in their direction. Jeff beamed when he saw her. “Hey, my little hot tamale.” Gabriella put her arm around his strong and solid waist. He placed his arm around her shoulders. They gave each other a half hug. “Hi. Back for some more fun?” she asked.“Absolutely,” Jeff said in a deep voice and gav
Nick had to admit, Goldman’s idea was genius. Nick had seen Jackie as soon as they hit the door. Her mouth had dropped open at the sight of him with the triplets. He also enjoyed the attention they were giving him. When they had made their way to the table, Jackie glanced up. It was quick, but Nick had caught it. When Bambi had plopped down in his lap, Jackie had squinted her eyes. It was working.Bambi fed him mozzarella sticks. Mandy got behind him and started massaging his shoulders. Candy scooted closer to them and started rubbing his hands. Nick should have started hanging out with Goldman on the weekends years ago.The triplets were friends of Goldman’s, of course. He met them in Houston when he had worked on the police force there. His tenure had been short, but he had the pleasure of meeting the sisters during a training exercise.Luck would have it, they were in Phoenix on a layover to L.A. Goldman had asked them to help Nick out with making the woman he really wanted jealous
It was 11:30. Nick, Jesse, Betsy, the sheriff, Goldman, Mandy, and Candy were still hanging out at the table. Trina had approached Bambi with a quick job offer. Apparently, a girl that was supposed to dance tonight didn’t show up and they were desperate. Bambi wasn’t sure at first, but Trina had assured her that it was a simple routine. There was also $200 cash in it for her. Nick had told her to do it if she wanted to. Two-hundred dollars wasn’t anything to sneeze at.Nick hadn’t seen Jackie for almost an hour. He hoped that he didn’t go too far. It wasn’t his intentions to run her off for the entire night. Then, Nick thought there might have been a real emergency at the front desk. The lights dimmed. Gabriella came on the stage. “Can I have everyone’s attention, please? We have a treat for you tonight.”Everyone looked at the stage.“For those of you who missed the wet nightie contest last night, we’re going to do an encore.”“Yeah!” Jesse yelled along with the other men who got exc
The décor in the rooms on the fourth floor were plush. They were designed to provide a casual sexual environment and to heighten sexual experiences. The twins had the rooms done a year after Garvey’s re-launch. The rooms were $269.99 per night on the weekends and $199.99 during the week. The room Jackie was in had not been rented for the night because Jackie had reserved it for her and Williamson. He had called and canceled. Williamson had said he had to do a favor for a friend. Jackie had said she understood. She forgot to put the room back on vacant. It was a good thing that she did because it turned out she needed it after all.She thought about what Daniel said. He was right. If she and Nick get this out of the way, then she won’t be taken off guard anymore by his chiseled physique and attractive features when they bumped into each other. Jodi was off the mark. It was sexual tension – that’s all.Jackie had stripped off her wet teddy and gloves, pulled down the satin red comforter
Jackie slowly sunk into the deep, red heart-shaped tub. Large square mirrors decorated the walls around the tub all the way up to the ceiling. She turned the jets on low. Jackie raised the complimentary wool bath sponge and squeezed the water out over her head, wetting her hair. She repeated the process until her hair was soaked. She let out a long sigh. Before she could recount recent events in her mind, the bathroom door slowly opened.Nick strolled in. He quickly looked around the bathroom. He quietly walked over to the sink and examined the contents in the basket. Jackie waited for him to speak with baited breath.“More room amenities. Massage oils, lotions, soaps,” he said out loud. He picked up a red bar of soap. He unwrapped the plastic around it. He brought it to his nose. Nick turned to look at her. “Smells like cinnamon. I don’t blame you for wanting to take a relaxing bath, but . . . it’s only two. As far as I’m concerned, the night’s not over, yet,” he said with a smirk.S
Jackie and Jodi concluded a morning meeting with their employees in the bar. The bar phone rang. It was too early for someone calling in a food order. They didn’t open until 11 a.m.Trina answered it. “Garvey’s” She was quiet for a moment, and then she loudly said, “Hey, Deputy Dalton.”Jackie rolled her eyes. Nick had called at least twice a day for a week. He had also stopped by twice. Both times Jackie had avoided him. Couldn’t he take a hint? One night, that was the deal. Jackie yearned for an encore, but she couldn’t allow it. Nick had too much power over her. She had to keep her distance.“I’m not sure, I just got here. Let me ring the front desk and ask Barb. Can you hold?” Trina said loudly. “Thanks.” She pressed the hold button.Jackie sighed. How many more excuses could she come up with?“He’s not going away,” Jodi sang in a high-pitched voice with a smirk on her face. She sat down on a bar stool.“I know, right? Jackie, you must have put the good shit on him,” Trina said wi
After Juan had left, Cindy had asked Mindy to grab items to put on her Nicolette persona before they left for Phoenix. Cindy wouldn’t tell her why. She had said they were going somewhere that she needed to see and it was a surprise. Five miles outside of Phoenix, Cindy stopped the SUV at a rest area, grabbed a bag out the back, and told Mindy she had to go to the bathroom. Fifteen minutes later, Cindy returned, but she didn’t look the same. Cindy had on a pile of make-up and a red-wig, and it wasn’t the red wig Mindy had given her. When Cindy got back in the car, Mindy asked what was going on and where were they going. Cindy begged her patience and assured her that everything would become clear. They were in the downtown area of Phoenix. They parked on the street. Cindy walked Mindy to a building that looked like it had glass for walls. They got on the elevator and went to the twelfth floor. There were two businesses on the floor; Grass
It was late Tuesday morning. Mindy was packing a gift basket. She was going to drop it off as she and Cindy rode out of town. Cindy wanted to go shopping in Phoenix. Of course, Mindy couldn’t afford to buy anything but she didn’t mind keeping Cindy company on her shopping trips. Cindy walked in. “Whoa,” she said as she took in the basket on the kitchen table. “That’s a big thank you.” “Well, it is from both us. Can’t have it skimpy,” Mindy said. Cindy shrugged and opened the refrigerator to retrieve a can soda. There was a knock on the back door. “Who in the world could that be?” Mindy asked. Cindy walked to the door and opened it. The man raised his head so they could see his face from under the wide brim baseball hat. “Hey, girls,” Juan greeted. “Juan, come in,” Mindy said with a smile. He darted inside and closed the door. “I parked my car two blocks away and walk
By the time Matt had found out what was going on, it was over. He and Jodi were having a hot romp in the kitchen when Patty tried to call him. He had left his cell in the living room. Two ambulances, the forensics van, two cruisers, and Williamson’s truck were outside. Matt and Jodi walked into Garvey’s bar. “Son of a bitch,” Matt sneered as he put his hands on his hips, taking it all in.Otto was taking pictures of the body on the floor. Goldman stood tall as he was taking notes while Mindy and Cindy Pandock sat at a table talking to him. Juan was sitting at the bar looking like he had never been more relieved in his life as Carter took his statement.“Oh my god,” Jodi said with a shocked look. “I’m going to check on Juan.”“All right, just don’t interfere with the questioning. I’m heading for the lobby to see what else is going on,” Matt said seriously.Jodi nodded and walked away.Matt strode to the lobby doors which were propped open. There was a body on a gurney covered by a shee
Tyrone told Juan how they had tracked Chip down in Chicago. It wasn’t hard. Chip had left a rowdy drunk trail so anyone who wanted to find him could. Tyrone described how they worked Chip over for thirty-six hours. After being beaten for that long anyone would tell what they knew. Chip had given Juan, Sam, and Zeke up. He had even told them where he hid his cut of the money. During the conversation, Tyrone had given the girls more change to play more tunes on the box. Just like before, Chavez had walked with them. When they returned, Ginger got back in the booth and Nicolette remained standing next to a table. She didn’t look as petrified as before. Tucker James had taken a seat at the table with Juan with the gun still on him. Juan guessed he got tired of standing just as much as Nicolette got tired of sitting. It wasn’t hard for Tyrone to track down Zeke either. At least Zeke didn’t lose his mind with the money. He was enjoying a comf
Juan had gotten Tyrone to chat a little. He got detailed about how Sam suffered before he died to Juan, Nicolette, and Ginger’s horror. Tucker even had the nerve to say that at least Sam wasn’t a rat - if it was any consolation to Juan. Now, he was talking to the girls as Nod Ya Head by Will Smith played on the jukebox. Chavez was bobbing his head to the song. “Are you two sisters?” Tyrone asked. “You look like you’re related.” “Cousins,” Nicolette choked out. “Ah,” Tyrone said with understanding. “It’s shame we didn’t meet under different circumstances. You two are cute. Oh, well, back to our friend Juan. So, Juan, where the hell is my twenty million dollars?” Mindy and Cindy’s eyes bugled. “I’ll tell you, but I have to know something first,” Juan said. “Yeah, what’s that?” Tucker said and put the barrel of the gun to Juan’s temple. “How’d you figure out it was us?” Juan asked ask he foug
Tucker had Juan sit down in a chair out on the bar floor. The silence made the situation more terrifying. Tucker pointed his pistol at his chest. How the hell did they figure out it was us? “Ladies, do you want to listen to some music,” Tyrone asked. “Huh?” Ginger said. “Music,” Tyrone repeated. “No reason for the situation to be unpleasant for you because you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. What kind of music do you girls like?” Nicolette shrugged stiffly. “Some country and . . . I just started to listen to some hip hop lately.” “Okay,” Tyrone said as he nodded his approval. “What about you, babe?” he asked Ginger. “Same including R&B,” she answered. Tyrone dug into his pocket and pulled out some change. He took Ginger’s hand and placed the change in it. “Play some hip hop. I don’t like country music – oh, and no Eminem, Justin Bieber, or Justin Timberlake. I hate t
It was Sunday morning, and Juan was feeling pretty good despite what had happened last Sunday. No one in town or the surrounding areas knew about Sam being found dead at the hotel, which surprised Juan because he was sure the EMTs would have talked, but it didn’t seem like they had. Juan just thanked his lucky stars.Matt and his team were still working on Sam’s case. Forensics believed Sam’s death was an accident per cloth fibers that were found on his body and the ice bucket bag. Matt tended to agree based on the staff statements and security camera footage from the lobby and exit doors down stairs. He did have Juan come in to look at some of the footage that Matt found suspicious. Juan identified the two blondes Sam had been with. They had appeared to be in a hurry and they went out the side door exit. Juan only knew their first names. Matt had put in the Arizona state police database that they were wanted for questioning, but he didn’t suspect them of foul play. Sam’s valuables ha
Monday afternoon, Juan prepared himself for the verbal assault as he settled in the office with Jodi and Jackie. He had asked Matt not tell the twins about Sam Ellis. Matt had said that it should come from Juan since they still own a part of the business, so they had a right to know. Juan didn’t want them to know because he knew they would blame him somehow. Sam was Juan’s friend not some random guest off the highway. In the end, Juan had refused to call them about it and told Matt to do what he felt was right in regards to informing the twins. “What’s up?” Juan asked. “I think you know what’s up,” Jackie said. “Jackie, what happened yesterday couldn’t be avoided. I don’t know how you think I could have prevented -” Juan began. “Of course, you couldn’t stop it,” Jackie interrupted. “We came here to see how you were and how we can help.” “Yeah. You can’t stop someone who really wants to kill themselves – or partici
The forensics team combed the room over while Matt and Juan waited in a room across the hall, so Matt could take Juan’s official statement. Both room doors were propped open. Otto was able to just walk a few feet to give Matt immediate need to know information.Matt noted Sam’s license information on a pad so his license could stay in an evidence bag. Sam had one suitcase filled with clothes, normal toiletries in the bathroom, a bottle of aspirin, a hundred and fifty dollars in his wallet, a paper bag with eight thousand four and thirty dollars in it, no credit cards, a cell phone, a photo of a woman, a man, and three girls, a key chain with a car key, two regular keys, and a lock key, and a few business cards.“Do you know why he had so much cash on him?” Matt asked.“Sam still lived the life of a drifter,” Juan said. “Plus, he liked casinos. He stopped at a couple in Arizona before he came here. Probably had a good run.” “Hmm,” Matt mused. “Yeah, but to keep that much cash in your
