The man who steered me down here pushes me rather briskly, getting me to stumble into the dark room.

Panic bubbles up my chest as they close the heavy door behind me, and I push down the urge to scream as darkness envelops me.

Feeling another presence in the room, I take a deep breath, waiting for my eyes to adjust to the dark.

A narrow window must be placed rather high up the wall on my left side, as a feeble stream of moonlight gets into the room, enlightening my surroundings lightly.

I still can’t make out most of it and I hate it.

A few months ago, I would have been flirty with the man waiting before me, but I’m in no mood to please him.

My buyer is sitting in a chair, his knees apart and his arms leisurely on the armrests.

I literally jump as he speaks for the first time.

He has a strange accent which I cannot grasp and his voice has something soothing and yet very disturbing.
