It has been a few days since Selene told me what I need to do. I have to go to the settlement in Moonlight Cove. Lost in my thoughts as my thumbs brush the handle of my coffee mug.

“What you thinking?” I turn my head with a sigh as I look at the door. My dad stands leaning against the doorframe, his arms folded over his chest and his ankles crossed.

“Nothing much, just what Selene told me.” I say to him as he pushes himself off the frame and walks towards me, tilting his head to the side as he studies me. He leans opposite me over the kitchen island.

“Well, you know what you have to do. So go do it. What’s stopping you?” He is watching me intently.

“What if I get there and Odessa tells me something I don’t like? For all I know, she could be plotting against us because of what happened to Fate.
