CHAPTER 27: The Glow

Pyra’s pov:

Everywhere shone with the crimson light from the moon and I knew immediately that I was back in the same dream.

I felt I wasn't alone and so I turned, just to gasp at what beheld me.

The red-cloaked figure stood in front of me, its hands clasped together and its face shrouded in endless darkness.

It was quiet, staring at me.

I refused to back down from its stare; instead, I remained quiet and watched.

Slowly, it dropped its head and I frowned at this movement, confused as to why he gave up easily on our ‘Staring Game.’

But then, it raised its head, the light illuminating its face and I gasped with shock.

In place of the darkness, my own face stared back at me. I was still not used to seeing this even after last time.

But now, it is different. Blood streamed down my eyes, and my skin was deathly pale.

It tried to open its mouth but blood trickled out too and it smiled at me. There was something sinister about it and all of a sudden, the smile di

CHAPTER 28: The Charade Going Luna Verona’s PovMy mind was consumed by the incident that led to my injury as I lay on the soft hospital bed. My blood boiled with anger as I recalled the confrontation with the challenger, his words fueling my fury. When I received the letter, at first, I thought it was only a mere jest, a russell trick under my skin. But then I saw the seal of Alpha Sam of the Moonblood pack, and my heart skipped a beat. He had sent two letters; one bearing a marriage of agreement and the other, a seal for war. I thought back to the previous encounter of subtle threats and jabs. I had dismissed them as mere posturing, just like others who had come to seek the throne, but now I realized that Alpha Sam was more cunning than I gave him credit for. I tore the letters. Especially the one bearing the marriage agreement. It was a clever move, a way to gain control of my pack without appearing overly aggressive. But the particular seal of war was the extent of his inte

CHAPTER 29: The News In Lunaria Alpha Maverick’s PovThe gentle clinking of cutleries on plates rang out through the whole dining room. Everyone concentrated on eating their food as silence reigned supreme. I chewed softly, staring at everyone around the table. I caught my mother's eyes but only for a moment before she continued eating and reading her newspaper.I knew I had to break the silence, but my mind was blank. I glanced at Derick, hoping he would say something, anything, to ease the tension. But he only shifted his gaze away from me, his eyes fixed on his plate, his jaws clenched. The minutes ticked by, each one feeling like an eternity. I could feel the weight of the silence resting on my shoulder as unspoken questions hung in the air like a challenge. I sat in the head seat, having breakfast with my mother, Beta Derick, Natalie, and Minister of Secret Affairs, Minister Blackthorn, The silence was palatable, punctuated only by the clinking of silverware on plates. But I

On getting to the door which beamed green lights showcasing top-notch ultra sophisticated technology, a hand became visible, placing it on the scanner and immediately, the heavy metallic silver doors opened. Different men and women dressed in lab coats walked around the now exposed space, busy with an iPad or writing on clipboards but they didn't fail to acknowledge the new presence. It seemed that the new incomers weren't interested in the greeting as they continued their path which brought them to another door. The air here crackled with lots of electricity which gave off the sense of secrecy. It felt like what loomed on the other side of the door was beyond any living soul’s comprehension. An abomination.A hand presented itself again,

Everything seemed to be playing in fast-motion, not giving me anytime to comprehend and understand what had just happened. I was restless. Overly restless. Three days had long passed since I’d avoided mingling with people, and when I mean people, I mean everyone. That included Veronica. I was still trying to process the strange occurrences happening to me. Trying to grasp the concept at least. I continued to lay in the same way but readjusted my position, wanting to become comfortable on the bed, but all my attempts proved futile. I groaned, fishing out my phone, and busied myself playing Candy Bust, trying to distract my mind from the twirling thoughts that threatened to consume me whole. The pack had given me a phone, a symbol of trust, and my new membership, but ever since I got it, I’d barely used it. At first, I was shocked. I had never been given a phon

It was Maverick, My Alpha Maverick. I was happy, no, ecstatic as I reached out to touch his face, remembering that eventful night with him. But my hand halted midway as a thick voice wafted through my ears. “Ok, knock it out!” The voice sounded. I blinked, trying to decipher whose this was as it didn't sound like My Maverick’s. I frowned, wondering what was going on and why Maverick sounded differently. But the voice came again, “As much this is pleasant for you, Pyra. May I remind you that this is no rom com.” I was taken aback, shocked and in that moment, whatever haze I was in cleared out and instead of the handsome face of Alpha Maverick, I met the stern face of Beta Thane. CHAPTER 33: Painful Thoughts Luna Verona’s povI gazed out the window from the bed, the palace light twinkling like diamonds against the dark canvas of night. Three days now. For three days I have been confined to this hospital room and it has taken its toll. I let out a deep breath I didn’t know I was holding. The banquet preparations kept my mind occupied. I rubbed my temples, warding off the creeping headache. Ever since, Minister Elias’s suggestion had been a stroke of pure genius. We needed something to divert attention, to ease the tension between Alpha Sam’s pack and my pack that could be just what we needed to avoid all-out war. The tension was rising but a dine with the enemy would ease the growing tension. "No ill feeling, eh!" I smirked, recalling my earlier thoughts as I circled Alpha Sam's position on the seating arrangement plan. He didn’t know what game he had started. I would frustrate him to the breaking point. "We could as well place him right under the chande

I picked the bottle of wine—it was half empty now—and handed it to him; the cool glass slipped from my fingers into his steady grasp. I felt a sense of loss, as if relinquishing a piece of my comfort. “Where is Elais?” I asked, settling onto the bed, trying to find comfort myself amidst the unease that gripped me. “He’s on his way,” Thane replied, scanning the room as if expecting trouble to burst through the walls. He worries too much and most of the time, for no apparent reasons. Just after Thane finished speaking, and as if on cue, Elias walked in,

CHAPTER 142: Rose Bouquet Pyra’s POV:That night, after the event with Steven, I slept late. My mind churned with everything that had happened—the race, the moment his grey eyes locked with mine, and the subtle seduction. It was too much to handle, and for the longest time, I lay on my bed, replaying the memories over and over again. Maybe this was why sleep didn’t come easily, and when it did, my ears picked up the sound of a foreign voice. My ear tingled as I listened for the sound, hearing it coinciding with that of my babies. They were four months old now and wouldn’t know the difference between safe and dangerous. I sat up immediately, my heart hammering in my chest. The sound was faint but unmistakable. It was a voice—a low whisper that seemed to blend with the soft babbling of my babies in the adjoining nursery. My maternal instincts kicked in as I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stood.Padding silently across the room to the nursery, I pushed open the door. The

I could feel his intense stare bearing down on me. I took a step back, but he simultaneously stepped forward. “I want to know the ins and outs of the great Alpha Rhaella. The very first Alpha Queen and female ruler of all Alphas and Lunaria as a whole.”The way he said it, it was like a dream. I couldn’t believe it myself; never in a million years would I have imagined I would be at such a level of peak as I was currently. “You’re exaggerating things. It’s not that big of a deal.” I said, still trying to step back, but his vest enveloped me. “It is a bit of a deal. The greatest deal ever in history. My breath was still heavy, my muscles pumping with the remnant of the surge of adrenaline. Not feeling satisfied, I moved over and carried the heaviest weight, 200 pounds on a barbell, hoping to not only challenge myself but disrupt the thought of him ringing through my mind. But it wasn’t enough. The weight didn’t burn away the fire in my chest, the turmoil in my mind. With a frustrated growl, I hoisted the barbell high above my head, my muscles screaming in protest. They only care for what could fill their pockets.” Steven whispered in disgust, knowing the hearts of ministers for his father’s pack had one similar to these.“Why do they even need pack ministers huh? To waste pack funds?” He now understood why his father dismissed almost all his ministers before he started his course for domination. And Steven fully agrees with his father. Packs don’t need Ministers who just sit around and get paid highly for doing absolutely nothing. With a heave, Steven shook his head and left the balcony, already bored as those he was spying on had all go

In the heart of the Fangborn Pack’s vast territory was an open clearing, a place steeped in reverence and history. This was no ordinary ground. It was the ground for the cremation of fallen heroes who risked their lives for the betterment of the pack as a whole. A place where the goddess shall open her arms and accept her children into her kingdom. This was the purest of places in the pack, where the vile between the living and the dead stands thinnest.
