Flustered

The day passed and soon enough, 3pm had come, yet Denise did not set a foot outside the mansion. She would not have dinner with him like he wanted her to. There was no need to. Even if they did marry, she’d like to think this was mere business…business from which she would benefit.

What was his gain though? She still couldn’t trust that he merely had a sudden change of heart. Or perhaps, she shouldn’t thoughtlessly call it sudden? What exactly happened all these years? Why was he lowering himself like this?

Denise found herself being curious about things that shouldn’t concern her.

“Miss Denise?”

The soft call pulled her out of her thoughts. She picked up on the familiar voice and barely managed not to roll her eyes. Reluctantly sauntering over to the door, she pulled it open, and stood face to face with Kile.

“You’re bigger than I remember…in muscle, I mean.” She commented, leaning on the door as she looked up at the giant before her.
