Dinner

Later that night, Denise found herself sitting silently in a car that was on its way to Kain. She ended up agreeing to go to the dinner in the end, but she absolutely refused to wear any of what he bought her and instead wore a plain jeans and T-shirt just to spite him. Trey was also dressed in his casual clothes.

If the place they were going had any dress code rules, it would be the perfect excuse to just turn around and head straight back to the mansion.

“Did he fall asleep?” Kile asked as he glanced at Denise and her son through the rear view mirror.

“Yeah.” She ran her fingers through Trey's hair gently and smiled softly. Thankfully, he wasn’t upset with her anymore. “He tried his best to keep himself up.”

“He looks just like Kain when he was a child.”
