It’s been two weeks since my breakdown on the mountain. I’ve felt a little bit better about things after I cried everything out. I didn’t realize how bad I needed that. I’ve been trying to keep my anger under lock, because it keeps showing up randomly, and I never want a repeat of what happened that night. I never want to feel that pain again, and Alpha John said we shouldn’t let my wolf out just in case.

All my friends and I are heading back from a trip to the creek. We’re all laughing because it rained yesterday and Cole decided to start a mud fight, so we are all covered in mud from head to toe. We head to the front door, and I glance across the street without thinking, and see my house. My brain instantly starts thinking about the what ifs and could have beens. I’m so tired of everybody being worried about me though, so I try and hide my thoughts.

I know my mom and Liam’s parents were just trying to protect me, but that thought doesn’t help with my anger. If Liam’s dad is right, I

When I woke up and Amy wasn’t next to me, I instantly knew where she was. She had been staring at her house all day. I could tell she was feeling something, but she wouldn’t talk to me about it. I didn’t realize what she was planning, until I got closer to the house and smelled all the gas.I know one day she might regret this, but who am I to tell her no. This is what she has chosen to do, maybe it will make her feel better. She won’t have to worry about looking up and seeing the pain she went through in this house. Maybe that will bring her relief.I don’t know, what I do know is I wasn’t letting her bare the full burden herself. If one day she wants to look back and regret this, it’ll be me she blames. It’s why I didn’t ask her if she was sure, because she still could have put the blame on herself there. This way, she’ll never know if she might have changed her mind at the last second. She’ll know I threw the lighter without question.I pull Amy back to my house, when we start to h

It’s been a week of bliss with Liam. Every chance we get we’re on top of one another. I don’t know what came over me that night, but the feeling of relief to have that house gone, and him telling me he loved me, it made me see things a little clearer. We’re sitting at the dining table for breakfast, when Julia walks in. She’s going through the mail, while Liam and I are flirting under the table. I still miss my mom, there’s a hole in my heart that can never be replaced, but I have had amazing support throughout all of this. Making things slightly easier, regardless of me thinking about her daily.Julia walks over to me and holds out a small blue envelope to me. “Looks like you got some mail, sweetie.” She says as I take the envelope from her saying thank you. I look over it confused about who would send me a letter. There’s no return address on it, not even a stamp, just my name on front in cursive. That thought makes my heart beat a little faster. Whoever sent this letter must have j

Two days later we got Mia home and settled in. Walker stayed with her and the rest of us headed back to Liam’s house. She’s all healed, just on bed rest for a few days.I hate this feeling, like at any second the whole world could come crashing down. He’s made his way into the pack three times, that we know of, undetected. Alpha John and his warriors, are trying to figure it out, but they haven’t come up with anything yet. They also believe there’s a mole in the pack, since he seems to know so much about me. They haven’t figured anything out yet, and time is of the essence. The full moon is in two days, and that’s when he’s at his strongest.Everybody is on edge; I could cut the tension with a knife. Nobody is talking about it though, at least not to me. I understand, nobody wants me to run, and they also don’t want to scare me. It’s far too late for that though. He attacked my friend in broad daylight, and she didn’t even see him. Not to mention, it wasn’t even a full moon. This guy

I’m sleeping peacefully, when I hear someone rush into my room. I stand, instantly on guard, “Liam!” My dad yells and stares at me worried. I don’t even want to look at the bed. I know what he’s telling me before he even has to say it. “No.” I whisper as I finally look over and know what happened.I rush out of the room, “She just made it out of the gates, the warriors on in pursuit.” My dad says behind me. I look where my car keys usually sit and see them missing. They won’t catch her, that car is made for the speed she’ll need to get away. I call through mind-link to Dallas. He has a fast car also. I wait for his car in my driveway, I don’t know how to feel. I know why she felt she needed to do this, I just wish she would have listened.Dallas races through the streets we were told she was using, but we don’t see my car anywhere. We’re completely silent, when I get a call. My dad says they’ve spotted my car at an old grocery store. I don’t even have to say anything before Dallas tur

I run as far as I can, for days. Sleeping only occasionally, when I can’t stay awake anymore. How is this my life now? My whole body feels like it’s on fire, my muscles aching. I could definitely use a shower. My legs and clothes covered in dirt. Liam’s scent envelopes me from Liam’s hoodie, but it is mixed with the dirt from ground from when I had to use it as a pillow. It makes me want to cry. I can’t wash it; I can’t lose what I have left of his scent. After what feels like forever, I finally come across a small town. I have no idea the name of the town, all I know is I need to find a hotel and something to eat. I find an old shabby hotel, on the outskirts and check in. I don’t have a lot of money, but enough to last a little while.Once I get inside my room, it’s dimly lit, and the walls are beige. The thin red floral comforter laid out across the bed. I go to the sink in the corner and don’t even care at this point. I throw my head under it and turn the water on, drinking up as m

I’ve been working here for a few weeks now. I miss my home. I miss my friends, but I keep telling myself it’s for the best. Me being here, hidden, is keeping them safe. Every single night, Nick is here. I’ve finally gotten more comfortable with him, but he also hasn’t tried to hit on me anymore. I’m sure that helps. I’ve learned that he works at a car repair shop down the road and that he moved here a few years ago. This town is like a haven for lost souls. Everybody that walks through the bar’s doors has a story. People started opening up to me after my first night of working here. It’s crazy the things people go through.I lean on the counter next to Nick as he tells me about the guy that always comes in orders a beer and sits in the corner, without drinking the beer. He just sits there every night and doesn’t say anything. He doesn’t even have to order the beer, as soon as Jessica sees him, she has it ready for him.“He came here a year ago, has never uttered a word.” I look at him

I look at him wide-eyed and in shock. My heart skips a beat, there’s no way. Even if it were true, how would he be able to tell? He chuckles, “Let’s just say I have a feeling.” He has a feeling? That’s one hell of a feeling! Not to mention he said lives! How would he have a feeling I had lives plural! In my stomach. No, this can’t be happening. This can’t be true.I stand up and walk away from him in a daze, I have to know right now. I can’t not know a second longer. I walk over to Jessica, completely forgetting my cleaning duties. “Jessica, I need to go to the gas station. I’ll be right back.” I don’t bother asking permission, I can’t worry about that right now. She looks at me worriedly and glances at Frank, as I go to grab my purse. “Yeah, okay... Hey, will you take the trash out on your way.” She asks, and I agree still feeling like I’m in a state of shock.I walk out the door and head to the side of the bar to throw away the trash. We drive for a full day, before we stop for gas. We don’t talk, I think we both needed a moment to catch up our brains with our actions. He steps out of the car and goes to the pump. I ask him if he needs anything from inside, because I’m definitely getting a pregnancy test. I go inside gathering all our snack and drinks and then run them out to the car, telling him I’m going to go to the bathroom. I can see him looking around, checking our surroundings, even though he doesn’t know what he’s looking for.I walk around the gas station to the bathroom around the side. It’s gross and ugly, but I don’t have time to concern myself with it. I take the pregnancy test and set it down, waiting. What am I going to do, if I am? Will they be in as much trouble as me? Will they have to run to? Or would I be able to leave them with Liam? Liam, I wish he were here. I wish he could hold me right now and tell me everything’s going to be okay.I look down at the test and my heart sinks. Two pink lines

After a blissful afternoon, locked in Liam’s room we head downstairs to talk to the others. We would have stayed longer if we could have but tonight’s the full moon. We don’t have time.I want to be embarrassed about what our friends witnessed this afternoon, but Liam assures me he didn’t do anything but kiss me until they were out of the room. I’m also having trouble caring. I couldn’t have stopped myself if I tried, I was laser focused on one person, my mate.Goddess, will it ever not feel strange saying that?‘Maybe for you. I however had that moment pictured in my mind for years.’ Liam says in my head, like a creep. ‘Are you just always going to be listening to my thoughts?’ I ask him, and he chuckles. ‘As long as you let me.’I roll my eyes, then realize what he said. I can’t hear his thoughts! How can he hear mine, but I can’t hear his? ‘Because you can put up a block. I don’t want to overload you, so I put it up. I’ll explain how to do it. My eyes open and I can see the sun shining through the curtains. I wonder how long I was out this time.Everything looks brighter, clearer, that scent. Goddess that scent! I throw my body up into sitting and look around. I’m in Liam’s room, I can smell it here, but my body starts moving before I can even give it commands.I look down, I’m wearing one of Liam’s t-shirts and it looks like some of my shorts. My legs take me to the hallway, down the stairs, through the living room and into the kitchen. My body freezes, ‘Mate!’ My wolf exclaims, just as Liam turns from putting a plate in the sink. My brain doesn’t process anything as my feet carry me to Liam and I jump into his waiting arms. Our lips clash in the next second, and it feels like I’ve come up for air. Like my bodies been held under water my entire life and I can finally breathe.I hear cheers go up around us, but I can’t focus on anything except my body pressed against Liam’s, my mate! This can’t be happening. Not again. She was left alone for five seconds! No!I watch as Dallas paces back and forth along the street, looking for her. Her scent disappears after we leave the porch. The only other scent is ours!Did her father find her?Everybody is looking, but we won’t find her. Not by scent, and she’s been gone too long that we’d see her.My mind races, as I try to figure out anything. Try to think of any plan. “Do you think maybe she ran again?” Cole asks softly behind me. A low growl leaves my throat.“How do you suppose she did that, Cole? She could barely walk! You think she just took off?” I scream at him. He puts his hands up, “Hey, I’m just pointing out all the possibilities! It wouldn’t be the first time!” He screams back at me.Already everybody is on edge. Fuck! I scoff, my hand running down my face. Then turn away from him. We’re just going to keep butting heads if I stay and argue.Hours we search for her. Hours! I can’t believe she’s gone again. The tho

Breathing heavily, trying to stay conscience, I look up at Andy. Who has taken a break from destroying me. “Why?” I ask, because he was never nice to me, but to team up with Clara… For this…He turns glaring at me, then shrugs. “Guess you won’t be leaving this room anyway. She’s, my mate.” I feel all the blood in my body freeze. What?!I’ve always been told mates mean everything to people that get them. Yet, he’s watching his mate try to get with someone else?“She’s going to become Luna, then kill Liam. Then I’ll be Alpha when she marries me.” He says with all the confidence in the world. I just shake my head at him, “She’s using you.” I tell him.He snarls at me, “You don’t know what you’re talking about.” He growls and I grimace. Not wanting him to continue beating me.“I know she’s loved Liam for as long as I can remember. I know she’s done everything to get rid of me to get to him.” I try to make him see. He just snarls again, “It’s all apart of the plan!” He shouts, coming to st

Pulling me and Liam next to him, so he can be close to me.I lean my head on his shoulder and sigh. The pain in my stomach still there, but less. They walk me over to the couch, and I look for Hazel.I see her standing over the desk, holding all of her books and ingredients as she searches for something. She senses me looking at her and sighs heavily, then looks over at me. “I’m so sorry, Amy.” She whispers, and Dallas and Liam both tense next to me. I look at her confused, “For what?”She closes her eyes, taking a deep breath. “It didn’t work.” She says, then turns back to her things. It didn’t work.It didn’t work! All of that! And it didn’t work? We all stand in the field, waving good-bye to the helicopter until it was completely out of view, per Heather’s request. Granted I don’t think I could have stopped anyway, I feel like two pieces of my heart just flew away.I stand there clutching my heart, as Liam pulls me into his chest, kissing the top of my head. “They’ll be safe, and we’ll see them soon, Angel.” I nod, hoping like hell he’s right.Hoping everybody here is still standing when all of this is over. I look over at Hazel, who has tears in her eyes, and she smiles knowingly at me. “They’ll be okay.” She whispers and I nod.At least they won’t be in danger here.“Okay, let’s get this connection broken. The sooner we get things done, the sooner this can all finally be over.” Hazel says and everybody nods.We all stand in the living room of Liam’s house, while Hazel starts setting up around me.Candles at each point of a star she has placed on the ground, ingredients set up around me, that I’m not even sure I want to know

We stay up for hours, coming up with a plan. A plan to get the kids out and a plan for taking down my father. I’m trying so hard to stay awake, but I’m failing miserably. Liam keeps begging me to go to sleep, but I need to be apart of the plan. I can’t go into it half assed because I needed to sleep. The kids went to sleep a few hours ago so John and Julia are down here with us. “I don’t like this plan; I need to be here with the pack when this takes place.” John says, talking to Liam. “Dad, I get it, but you and mom are the only ones we trust to keep them safe.” Liam explains to him. Our group already got in a fight about this. I obviously can’t leave, which means Liam and Dallas won’t leave. Which means as Liam’s Beta Walker and Dallas’s mate Nick, they won’t leave. Which means Mia won’t leave. Hazel can’t leave, being our only witch which means Cole won’t leave as her mate. None of them are willing to sit aside while everyone else is in danger. So, in comes John and

Cole comes in carrying a small box of I don’t know what, but looking down at it. “Why was I sent on a mission to retrieve a bunch of random crap?” Cole says grinning looking up at Liam. Liam shrugs, “I don’t know, Hazel said she needed it.” Liam explains motioning to Hazel, Cole’s eyes follow his hand until they land on Hazel. The box of random crap falls to the ground, “Mate.” Cole nearly whispers, my eyes go wide as I stare between the two. “Hi Cole.” Hazel says casually. Cole walks over to her and kneels down next to her. “I asked for these things, specifically from you, because we needed to have a conversation before this…” She gestures between her and Cole, “was reveled.” I just gap at them, so happy that they found each other. Cole looks at the group frowning, “What conversation?” He asks, clearly not happy that he wasn’t included. I smile down at my hands shaking my head. She clearly wanted to have this serious talk, before her and Cole had their moment. Which t

I guess it makes sense that it’s my stress levels, every time the spells happen there’s some major thing happening. Granted, I’m not sure when my stress levels were ever at a normal degree lately. Liam goes on, “Okay, Hazel. Explain.” I know he wants to get this out of the way. See what explanation she has for why she did what she did to me. The plan will probably take up much more of our time than this. Hazel takes a deep breath, “Amy, you know I get feelings and can sense things that most people can’t.” She pauses and I nod. “Well, the night Nick and I got into a fight, not long after I joined you guys on the road. I had finally gotten the sense that you weren’t aware of Nick being a wolf. You were passed out in the hotel room so Nick and I went outside to talk about it. I told him I was going to tell you. I honestly didn’t really think about your father being the problem at the time, I just thought you deserved to know.” She pauses and looks at Nick sadly and he nods,
