Chapter 10

"Thank you," Lucas said as he ended the board meeting. After exchanging pleasantries with the members of the board, he left the company.

"Sir, where to?" his driver asked as he opened the car door.

"Let's visit my ex-wife today," Lucas replied with a grin.

"Okay, sir," the driver said as he started the car.

---

"Ma'am, you have a visitor," Selena was informed by the warden.

She had spent so many days locked away that she had lost count of time. Violet? Could it be Violet? Every day, her prayers were to set eyes on her daughter again. After the news of Wave's death hit her, Violet had been her only source of hope. But, unfortunately, it seemed her daughter had vanished into thin air.

She was directed to the visiting ward, where she saw Lucas, dressed sharply in a black suit, seated and staring at her.

"What do you want, you bastard?" she hissed through clenched teeth, her voice hard. She avoided yelling to keep the police from paying attention. She didn’t want any trouble, and since Lucas had taken the trouble to visit, she was certain he was here to cause her more pain.

"Calm down, Selena," Lucas said as she reluctantly sat down.

Hatred was etched clearly on her face, but Lucas ignored it. He had come to provoke her, after all.

"You look... old. I mean it," he said with a smirk.

"Is that why you're here?" she shot back coldly.

"No. I just wanted to know if you’ve heard from your useless daughter, Violet."

At the mention of Violet's name, Selena threw caution out the window.

"Shut up!" she yelled.

Lucas, knowing he had struck a nerve, pressed on.

"Did she abandon you too? I told you she was useless from the day she was born, didn’t I?"

"My daughter could never abandon me!" Selena shouted, her voice cracking with emotion.

She was exhausted—framed for a murder she didn’t commit, grieving her son, and now left with no sign of her daughter.

"Look, Lucas," she said, tears welling in her eyes. "If Violet is alive and breathing, rest assured that the smile you have plastered on your face will not be permanent."

"Is that a threat?" Lucas asked, clearly amused by her confidence.

"No. It’s a warning," Selena said, rising from her seat and walking away.

"Well, I’m waiting!" Lucas yelled after her. "Heck, I’ve been waiting for the past five years for your precious daughter to return. Looks like my smile will be permanent!"

As she disappeared down the hall, Lucas muttered under his breath, "Gosh, I hate this woman," before finally standing up and leaving.

---

"You asked, and I delivered," Riele, Sean’s personal assistant, announced as she entered the opulently decorated mansion.

She was accompanied by a young woman who appeared to be in her mid-twenties.

"And who is she?" Sean asked, looking up from his phone.

It had been a month since both Sean and Violet returned to the country after being away for five years. Both their businesses were thriving, to the point where Sean could proudly claim to be wealthier than the Wells family. Yet, his mind was consumed by thoughts of revenge against Lucas.

"Lucas is well-protected," Sean thought. "But I have to admit, I underestimated him."

"Our ticket to Lucas Wells’ life," came a sharp yet delicate voice accompanied by the clicking of heels.

Violet strode into the room, clad in a red pencil suit, her shoulder-length black hair bouncing with every step. Her presence radiated power and grace, intimidating the young woman Riele had brought along.

"What do you mean?" Sean asked, his curiosity piqued. "The last time we spoke, you said you had a plan."

The Violet standing before him was not the same woman he knew five years ago. That Violet was gone. This Violet was calculated and dangerous, like an erupting volcano ready to destroy anyone in her path.

She was smart, calm, and relentless—a force to be reckoned with. Her every action was driven by one goal: revenge.

"She is the plan," Violet said, pointing at the young woman.

"Tell me, what’s your name?"

Before the woman could respond, Riele interjected, "Her name is—"

"I didn’t ask you," Violet said sharply, her gaze never leaving the young woman.

"M-Mabel," the young woman stammered.

"Mabel," Violet repeated, a small smile curling her lips. "A nice name."

Turning to Sean, she continued, "Sean, my plan is simple. Lucas is protected by a massive wall, but once a cheat, always a cheat."

"What do you mean?" Sean asked, intrigued.

"We’ll create the perfect opportunity for Lucas to meet Mabel—a meet-cute he can’t resist. Despite being married to Josephine, Lucas is notorious for spending nights with other women. All we need to do is make her irresistible to him. Once she’s in his life, we’ll have our way in."

"And what happens after she gets close to him?" Sean asked, leaning forward.

"Once she gains his trust, we’ll have access to his secrets, his weaknesses, and most importantly, the cracks in his so-called fortress. Lucas won’t even see it coming," Violet said, her voice cold and calculated.

Mabel shifted uncomfortably, realizing the role she was about to play in Violet’s elaborate game.

Sean chuckled darkly. "You’ve truly become a force to be reckoned with, Violet. Let’s make it happen."

"Good," Violet said, her gaze icy. "Let the games begin."
