As the airplane lands at the Avram Iancu International Airport in Cluj, I start to get Sky ready. I pull the hood of her sweatshirt over her head to hide her hair and give her a pair of sunglasses. In Siberia it was easy to keep her hidden, but Romania is full of dangers. Tatiana could have at least opened a portal that led directly to Caleb’s pack, but she wanted me to face my biggest fear—Sinn. I fight against the urge to touch the scar on my neck. I am lucky that I am still alive. Nine years ago, I came very close to losing my life. If not for Katherine and Daphne, I would not be here today.

If something happens to Sky, I will hold Tatiana responsible.

People stand up, getting off the airplane. When only a few people remain, I make a sign to Katherine, Zeke and Glenn to gather the carry-on luggage while I take Sky’s hand in mine.

“Remember not to talk to strangers,” I remind Sky. Despite growing up isolated, Sky loves meeting new people a
