There is a reason why there is only one way to get to the Diamond Realm—the portal from the Crescent Moon Pack—a reason that I found out by mistake when I once heard Jordan’s parents talk about it. Being the King or Queen of the Diamond Realm is more of a curse than a blessing.

Jordan shrugs and sits across from me. “Who knows? Rain….” He slides his hand across the cold surface of the desk, his fingers brushing against mine. I jerk my hand away and put it on my lap.

“I think you should return to your pack,” I say as I open the laptop. “I have a Luna class to attend too, and you have a pregnant… companion waiting for you.”

“I hate myself for rejecting you.” He sounds sad. “For not listening to you.”
