Chapter 3

The staff stared at me in shock, frantically trying to clean up the mess.

While they were distracted, I found Megan’s phone.

In my previous life, even after marrying into our family, Megan kept up her affair with her ex-husband. She was constantly sending him money and sneaking him into our house whenever my dad was away.

I accidentally walked in on them once, and that was when I realized Megan and her ex-husband weren’t done with each other.

Their plan was to get rid of me first, then drain my dad’s bank accounts, and take over our home. They were like sneaky rats, always scheming to steal from the very people who took them in.

It was downright pathetic.

I scrolled through Megan’s phone, staring at the incriminating texts, explicit photos of her and her lover, and screenshots of the money transfers she had made to him.

I didn’t just take pictures of everything. I transferred all the data to my own phone.

After I finished, I turned off her phone and walked out of the room.

The staff had finished cleaning up by then and were standing around awkwardly, watching me with nervous eyes.

I walked past them, and they shrank back, no longer as arrogant and smug as before.

I nodded to myself.

Good. It seemed like the first lesson had sunk in.

A little while later, Megan and the others returned.

She was hanging onto my dad’s arm. “Honey, that cosmetic treatment worked wonders. I feel great! I’m thinking of shopping for some new clothes tomorrow. You know how much you love those little—”

My dad gave her a knowing smile and squeezed her hand. “Sure, I’ll send a few bodyguards with you to keep you safe.”

Megan hesitated. “Oh, that’s not necessary. Having bodyguards would just draw too much attention. Plus, I’m going shopping with my girlfriends. You really want a bunch of guys following me around while I’m buying… you know… intimate things?”

She leaned in closer, pouting playfully.

My dad finally relented, though he still made a big show of reminding her to be careful.

But I knew better. She wasn’t going shopping. She was going to meet her lover.

The next day, Megan left in a hurry, and I grabbed a cab to follow her.

Her first stop was a lingerie store, where she picked out a few revealing outfits, and then she headed to an old apartment complex.

I glanced at the name on the building and recognized it immediately. It was Megan’s old place.

I put on a mask and followed her up the stairs.

There was no elevator, and by the time I reached the fourth floor, I was out of breath.

Megan ran into a man’s arms, exclaiming, “Hubby, I’ve missed you so much!”

I knew exactly who he was. Paul Spencer, Megan’s ex-husband and secret lover. In my previous life, he and Brandon, along with some thugs, had tormented me.

I remembered lying in a dark alley, beaten and humiliated, while Paul recorded the whole thing and posted it online, ruining my life.

The memory of that moment flooded me with rage. I gripped my phone so tightly that my knuckles turned white as I struggled to keep my composure. I forced myself to stay calm and hit the record button.

A moment later, they were standing outside the apartment door, making out shamelessly, their hands all over each other.

Paul’s voice was low and teasing as he tugged on one of the outfits Megan had just bought. “Babe, how about you wear this one tonight? It’ll be fun.”

Megan giggled, melting into his arms. “You naughty boy, I bought it just for you.”

With that, they rushed inside the apartment, and it was obvious what was about to happen.

I stopped recording, feeling quite pleased with today’s little adventure.

Megan, the show you put on today would make the perfect opening scene for your wedding video.
