Sitting by the door and staring in a daze, she tried to pull back the covers around her body.
She saw her world, career and everything crumbling in front of her.
Had that happened?
She could not imagine the disappointment from her father, dead mother, sister, best friends and even the whole of Australia.
No! That must never happen!
Her hand holding her phone trembled as she stared with wide eyes.
The knocking on the door persisted, and tears poured down her eyes.
Suddenly, Wesley appeared behind her, wearing his shirt and pants. He grabbed her hand and yanked her off the floor. Without waiting for her to react, he pulled her towards the bathroom.
“Don’t scream. Just come with me,” he warned through gritted teeth. After all, he knew her to always scream before making an announcement on social media.
“I’m sure you don’t want to be caught here.”
Hearing that, she held her peace and obediently followed him, dragging the sheet that hardly covered her body. They got to the bathroom, and he pushed the door open and then he gently pushed her in.
Holding the door, he warned her seriously, “Don’t lock the door behind.” After which, he slammed the door shut before locking it from outside.
Daisy stared at the locked door with red-rimmed eyes. Soon her tears came pouring down again. It was slowly sipping in that she had carelessly slept with another man who wasn’t Edward.
Who would she blame?
How would she face her boyfriend?
The door was suddenly pushed open, and she was so startled that her heart flew to her mouth.
Wesley stretched her bag and red dress to her.
“Take your bath and dress up. I’ll get you out of here,” he said indifferently as he stared at her tear-stricken face.
She took them from him and found her phone and underwear stuffed inside. Seeing that she shut her eyes tightly in shame and agony.
Daisy opened her eyes to see he was about to leave, so she stopped him. “When this is over, you have questions to answer,” she stated coldly as she glared at him.
Wesley scoffed. “I guess you have penalties to bear.” Then he eyed her and left, shutting the door. Almost immediately, he opened it back and instructed her.
“I won’t be coming till ten minutes. You should have dressed up by then. Make it snappy while I meet with whoever is outside.”
Then he shut the door and locked it.
Daisy stared hard at the door finding the whole situation she was in overwhelming.
When she gets out, she would have to get contraceptives and go for tests afterwards. Ha! Unbelievable!
Tears stung her eyes again, and just when they would roll out, she held them back. Suddenly remembering his words and realizing she had limited time, she let go of the cover and stood under the shower.
She let the water pour down her without minding how she would dry her black waist-length hair afterwards. She was frustrated and badly needed to vent.
Even though she wanted to believe they had just one round of sex which she isn’t totally sure about, it still felt like she was run over by a trailer. Her tears began pouring again, and she didn’t bother to stop them. The shower was washing them off anyway.
Back in the room, after Wesley locked the bathroom door; he went for the main door, inwardly cursing at the persistent knocker.
When he got to the door, he did not just unlock it and pull it right away.
Who would come knocking persistently at this hour?
It wasn’t even eight yet, and he wasn’t expecting anyone. Besides, no one knew where he was at the moment except the party who set him up. The same would apply to Daisy too.
Being a very wise person, he subtly unlocked the door and opened it slightly before he pooped his head out. After which, he cast a sharp glare at the woman holding some cleaning tools.
“Get lost and go back to whoever sent you,” he spat coldly, after which he rudely pulled off the wig and stared hard at the man in disguise before slamming the door shut.
The man by the door was so startled that he didn’t immediately pick up his wig that had been thrown down. He was too startled to react.
He adjusted his eyeglasses glass purposefully to take videos as he stared amusedly at the closed door, wondering how Wesley knew he was sent.
He then finally picked up the wig lying on the floor and retreated before taking out his phone.
He would have to inform James Johnson of the new development.
Wesley Maxwell is really smart, and it seems it wouldn’t be easy dealing with him.
Back inside, Wesley went to sit on the bed, seething in rage.
At that moment, his anger was almost at its peak. He would get to the root of everything and bring every person to book. He would destroy them one by one, whoever dared to do this!
His eyes turned cold and mischievous.
There was one person on his mind who could try this in the whole of Australia, and he swore to go against that old man if it turned out to be him.
James Johnson, a man in his fifties and the prime minister of Australia, had been the business-leading emperor in Australia before Wesley inherited his family’s business and overshadowed him. Wesley had driven him to a corner, taking all the glory, power and wealth in the business world. What humiliated him the most was that he was Australia’s prime minister, and he hated that a mere citizen was bigger than him, a young one at that.
He hated Wesley's guts and had always tried to get him in trouble.
Wesley never thought he offended or wronged him in any way. He simply felt the man was not smart enough after all. He did not mind going against the prime number and shaking him terribly if that would humble him.
Besides, the business world is filled with cruelty and hostility. Only the fittest survive.
Wesley tried to remember what had happened last night. He had come to meet with a business partner who came from the US. The person had booked a private room in this restaurant, and he had wondered why he didn’t pick a five-star hotel instead.
In the end, he ended up in this room in a dire state, terribly in need of a woman. He tried to remember in detail how things happened, but his memory seemed jumbled up.
At the thought that James had managed to buy his business partner over, his face turned grim.
With a deep frown, he picked up his phone and called Andrew, his right-hand man and most trusted assistant.
After a few rings, Andrew picked up the call.
“Check out every footage from four yesterday evening to this very moment. I need you to draw an analysis and report it to me today. Then investigate and check for every Tigera member in South Yarra.”
Tigera is James Johnson’s, underground armed man. On the surface, they are mere bodyguards, but in reality, they are specially trained armed forces from Rose Bay. He uses them to carry out every dirty work and put off his stains. Wesley was never bothered about his men; after all, his family had Croxxed X, one of the many things the public can never know.
The other end of the call was silent for a while before Andrew suddenly said, “You think James doesn’t know you can identify Tigera? Remember what happened last month. I doubt he used Tigera last night.”
Wesley thought hard about it and went solemn.
Just then, something struck him, and he raised his brows. “You already know?” he asked, his voice tinged with amusement. He remembered he had not mentioned anything yet that happened to him to Andrew.
‘How the fuck did he know?’
“I arranged your schedule yesterday, remember? I heard nothing from you afterwards and came looking for you. I got to find out you were drugged. I just drove in, and I’m in the packing lounge. We should head back.”
Wesley let out an inaudible sigh. Sometimes, it bothered him so much that Andrew was so effective.
After a brief purse, he said into the phone, “I still want you to check for Tigera.”
Wesley already knew James didn’t use Tigera on him this time, remembering the wigged man at the door earlier. He isn’t Tigera.
“Make your investigation very obvious. I’ll meet you in five minutes,’ Wesley added.
“Got it,” Andrew replied before the call ended.
Wesley dropped his phone with his eyes narrowed.
If he investigated Tigera instead, wouldn’t the culprit be on the loose, thinking we would never suspect him? He would lower his guard that way.
It was then he suddenly remembered the woman he had locked in the bathroom.
He had almost forgotten about her.
In the bathroom, Daisy took a bath and turned off the shower. She immediately grabbed the towel on the rack and slightly mopped her body with it. Her mind was still in a frenzy, and she had her heart in her mouth all along. Afterwards, she slipped into her dress and took out her phone. As she stared at the forty-nine missed calls displayed on her phone screen, her heart raced. The thought that things could have gone bad scared her to death. But sooner or later, she would definitely face whatever had happened. So she tapped on it and scrolled through. Rose had called her over twenty times, about six last night and the rest this morning. Her eyes widened when she saw this. Why would Rose call her so many times repeatedly early in the morning? Then there was Cindy, her dad, and her kid sis, Violet too. Her heart dropped when she saw Edward had not called her at all. Did he find out? Did he catch her? No, has it got to the news? Her heart raced more, and her eyes widened. Wit
“I was going to leave anyways.” With that, he eyed her once more, winked, and walked out of the bathroom. Daisy’s beautiful face was contorted in a deep frown, and suddenly she saw herself going after him. “Hey, stop right there!” she yelled at him, stepping out of the bathroom. Wesley stopped in his tracks, turned, and stared at her, feeling amused. He didn’t know he was going to face an angry bird, so he was taken aback once he turned. ‘Is it because of what I said to her back there?” he wondered, bewildered. Even still, that made him want to tease her even more. He crossed his arms over his broad chest and stared at the lady standing before him who couldn’t even reach his chin in height. “I want to ask you a question!” she said through gritted teeth. “Why did you have sex with me last night, seeing that you got the wrong woman? Why didn’t you push me out?” The way she was so serious, he really wanted to burst out laughing. Anyways, he couldn’t stop the chuckle that escape
A black luxury Audi drove through the road that leads to the most expensive villas in South Yarra. It had been a silent journey from the high-end restaurant. On the passenger’s seat sat a straight figure who looked distant, lost in thoughts, with his brows furrowed. His attractive thin lips were tightly pressed together. He looked like he was upset, and Andrew, who suddenly had to do the work of a driver, did not dare say a thing to him. If only he knew Wesley was not actually angry because that old man James Johnson had set him up but because of that actress. No one ever dares to tell him off or behave that way to him. But she had done these. Except for Andrew, and that’s even when they are in brother mode. Andrew is his most trusted assistant and sometimes his brother. At first, he felt guilty, thinking he had gone too far with his words, but now, he thought she had trampled on his pride and had to be punished. She had no right to make him feel guilty; after all, she had climb
[Was that really Daisy in the video this morning?] [I don’t want to believe it!] [But it’s true whether you believe it or not. I watched the video and Gwarrrd, I can’t believe I was ever her fan.] [Huuurrrghh, I’m really disappointed and disgusted right now.] [She’s a bitch. I guess that’s who she is, and she has always just pretended to be a decent lady. This blew up to her face. She could not hide her callousness forever. I wonder what she will do.] [Last night was her anniversary night. Edward must be so heartbroken.] [I hate her so much now!] [Just die, Daisy, die!!] [Who has the video? Can someone repost?] [To the person above, no one can. If you post it, it will be taken down immediately, and your account might get restricted.] [Hahahaha… I guess that’s what she can do. That’s what the deceptive bitch can do.] [Huh? I really feel so bad for Edward. How is such a handsome and sexy, good-looking guy not enough?] [Who was the guy in the video? The guy seems very hot thou
The father and daughter call ended. The call had lasted for twenty minutes. While Mr Louis felt dissatisfied that his daughter would not come home, Daisy was in a daze as she got lost in her own thoughts. What her dad had said earlier kept ringing in her head. Of a truth, only her friends can set her up. She thought deeply and hard, but no one occurred to her. She has colleagues from the same movie industries, and her friends in the business circle but Edward had only invited a very few of them. ‘Who could have done this to her?’ she could not help but wonder. Whoever did this to her definitely wanted to ruin her and the person really is on the verge of doing so. As far as she is concerned, Rose and Cindy are out of her guesses. She sighed wearily as her eyes reddened slightly. Who could she have offended? Who hated her this much? She did not want to go home cause she felt she would end up affecting her dad with her scandal. She suddenly remembered something. ‘The guy I s
Daisy lay on the wide bed with her phone lying beside her. She had been lost in her own thoughts and had ended up falling asleep. Through her sleep she felt someone gently adjusting her then she was tucked in with the duvet. She opened her eyes dimly to see Rose who had taken her phone away and was placing it on the bedside table. Rose turned and their eyes met who subsequently scowled at her. “You took the phone huh? What exactly do you want to see?” Rose chided her. Daisy could not help but smile, but the smile did not reach her eyes. Rose was acting like her mother and it made her remember how her mum would scold her over funny little things. Right now, she found Rose amusing, but she could not smile brightly. Her life was a mess, how could she smile? Rose saw this and slowly walked up to her bed. She breathed out a sigh and sat on the bed beside her then she fixed her gaze on her sad face. Daisy still had the smile on but now, it slowly died down. They stared at each o
As Daisy and Rose stood in the hallway close to the stairway, Rose suddenly said, “When this is all over, I will introduce you to someone. She’s an actress and will be joining Finn’s media soon. Her name is Sarah” Daisy smiled genuinely and nodded. “I can’t wait to see her,” she said. She believed anyone from Rose would definitely be a good person as Rose was the best person she had ever met in her life. Wesley stared at Josh with dark eyes, his face devoid of any emotion whatsoever. He had no pity and he would torture him till he spilled out everything he wanted to hear. “You said you will talk…” Wesley drawled lazily as he took the huge needle from who went to get it. The other already pulled down his pants and Josh looked horrified. As Wesley’s gloved hands took hold of the band of his boxers, Josh immediately yelled frantically. “Yes. James Johnson actually sent me. He did send me. But I never expected the actress to fall into such a trap. I made the video that way because
This definitely was the end. Tears streamed down Daisy's face as she remained sited on the grass. Rose who had got up turned to Cindy and asked calmly, "What happened?" With reddened eyes, Cindy answered "I really don't know. I really don't understand. But right, the internet is in chaos." As she spoke, Daisy listened while she just stared ahead. Then her eyes dropped to Cindy's bare feet and she suddenly laughed stunning the two ladies. "Why are you barefooted? Just look at your feet on the bare ground. You're a very foolish girl." The two ladies were more than stunned this time around as that was extremely strange. Daisy looked up and laughed again as tears streamed down her face. "You should have at least put on some slippers dummy," she giggled. Cindy's eyes widened and she immediately crouched in front of Daisy as she clutched the latter's arm. "Hey, are you okay? What's wrong with you?" But Daisy withdrew her arm from her friend's grip before glaring at her. "You real
