Only a test

The old vendor got stabbed in her sides and Zed immediately rushes in to help her but the men blocked him. “Move!” the men just laughed and actually injured him with the knife as well. “Really? Does that give you the answer?” the man said with a smile on his face. Zed then saw the old vendor trying to gasp for air and he knows that she doesn’t have much time left. “Move or I will be forced to use any means to move you by force!” the men mocked him after saying those words because he is a child. And he knows that it might be the reason why they are acting like that but what matters to him the most right now is to save the old vendor from dying.

“This is all my fault! She got stabbed because I butt in! Zed you mindless fool!” he cursed himself as the men continues to call him names and even laughed at the old vendor who is on her dying moments. “So what are you going to do kid?” “I will move you by force.” Zed responded as the sky turned dark all of the sudden and lightning starts to rumble as rain falls on the ground below.

The men instantly felt a bit of fear at the coincidence of the events but a coincidence is a coincidence after all so it easily got swept away from their minds. “Did this kid really just threatened us? Can you believe that?” the man then laughed and swings his knife towards Zed. “Come out, Lucierro.”

SNAP!

The knife snapped in two after the man swings is knife at Zed , surprised of what just happened, he looks at the kid that he was making fun of and saw an entity keeping the kid safe. He falls to his back after seeing the entity and his friends are also frozen in shock for seeing something that does not exists in their world. “What in the world is that? Carrier- that kid is a carrier!” the man yelled after only realizing that now. “I told you didn’t I? I will be forced to use any means to make you move away.” The entity then stand tall behind Zed and locked gaze with the man on the ground.

“Please forgive us, we did not know that you are a Carrier. Please! I have a family!” the man immediately pleaded for his life and his friends naturally did the same. “Did you even wonder if the vendor has a family to feed as well?” he asked with a cold tone devoid of emotion and the men panicked.

“NO!” the alley is filled with screams of the man as the entity punished them as its’ master's wish. “I don’t care if I am useless or not. Just this once. Just this once. Let me be useful. Let me help other people.” He said to himself as he tries to press on the wound of the vendor. The sound of the screams and the beating is conceal by the heavy rain that is befalling the city and before he could kill the men off, the butler, Krono appeared and stop him before he could kill anyone.

“That is enough Zed. They have suffered enough. It is time to let them go.” Zed turns around and saw Krono standing behind him. “That is not enough Mr. Krono, they stabbed this old vendor and now she is on the verge of death. Blood should be paid up by blood.” He retorted. “But their blood is not yours to draw but of her kin.” Zed then orders his summon to stop beating up the men who now have bloated faces and just fainted after the beating ended. “I’m sorry Mr. Krono. Its just that pressure had been building inside me lately.”

The butler pat his head as if he would to his brother and smiled. “I understand. The master sees it all. He knows your pain and tells me about it so that I would understand your pain as well. Leave this to me and you should go home and change your clothes and rest.” Zed looks at the old vendor who seem to agree with the butler without saying anything. “I’m sorry for getting you stabbed. I thought I was helping but the result is different than what I expected.” The old vendor just held his arm and smiled.

Zed looks at Krono and tells him to take care of the old vendor in his stead. “Rest assured, I will take care of her.” Zed then left the alley and run back to his home where he saw Pierce on the way. She tried to call out to her but her mother stopped her before she could speak anything. “Why do you look so sad Zed? Did something happen?” she wanted to ask him this but he is already gone.

Zed enters a rundown house near the slums. This house belongs to his family when they are still alive but due to a certain accident, he lost both of his parents and was left alone at the age of 7 with no one to take care of him. The house used to be grand as his family is wealthy but after only few years of living there alone, the house started collapsing on its own due to old age and now Zed has to live with it, trying to make repairs on his own but proved to be pointless as it not only needs repair but a renovation instead.

“Thanks for being there for me when no one was Lucierro, you are my only family ever since that day right?” he said to himself as he stroke a toy’s head that has the splitting image of the entity that he summoned earlier.

“That was really risky madam. I know that you have healing abilities but to let yourself get stabbed by a knife is straight out crazy.” Krono said as he hands the old vendor with a towel. “Don’t lecture me. That is how I want to meet interesting individuals.” She retorted as her image starts to change into a beautiful woman staring at herself in the mirror. “So how is he? Is he just what you expects him to be?” the master walks in, excited to hear what she has to say about Zed.

“There is one thing that I have in mind. Stupid. Any other normal people would immediately understand what I meant by that gaze and would respect that but he did the complete opposite and followed us. But that doesn’t mean it was stupid alone, people who are willing to take risks are the ones that have huge potential. I’d say he just passed the test alone with that one. But that kid has more than what meets the eye.” She said with a smile.
