The fire had burned low, leaving behind glowing embers. The cave was silent except for our steady breathing. I was still leaning against Ronan, my body too exhausted to move. His warmth wrapped around me, steady and real.

But reality struck like a cold wind.

I tensed and pulled back, suddenly aware of how close we were.

Ronan’s silver eyes flickered as he looked at me, but he said nothing.

I cleared my throat. "I should—uh, get some sleep."

He didn’t stop me as I lay down on the hard ground, facing away from him. My heart pounded, confused by whatever was happening between us.

This isn’t real, I told myself. He’s training me, nothing more.

Yet my body still remembered his warmth.

---

The sharp whistle of a blade slicing through the air woke me.

I rolled to the side just in time to avoid a dagger embedding itself into the spot where my head had been.

"What the hell?!" I scrambled to my feet, heart racing.

Ronan stood a few feet away, another dagger in hand, his expression calm. "You’re

The night stretched on in heavy silence, broken only by the crackling fire. I should have pulled my arm away, put distance between us, but I couldn’t.Ronan’s fingers moved over my wound with careful precision, his touch warmer than it should have been. I wasn’t used to him being gentle."You should have dodged faster," he muttered.I scoffed. "Oh, I’m sorry. Next time I’ll ask the wolf to slow down."A smirk tugged at his lips. "Smart mouth, as always."I sucked in a breath as he pressed something against the cut. A sharp sting shot through my arm, making me wince."Try not to cry," he teased.I glared at him. "You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?"He didn’t answer, but there was a glint in his silver eyes. For a moment, I forgot the pain. I forgot the wolves, the revenge, everything. All I could focus on was the way his fingers lingered against my skin, the way his gaze held mine a little too long.I swallowed. This is dangerous."Done," he said, finally pulling away.I exhaled, sudden

The cell was cold and damp, the air thick with the scent of stone and earth. My wrists ached from the tight chains, but that wasn’t what unsettled me the most.It was the silence.Ronan sat across from me, his silver eyes unreadable. He hadn’t said much since I woke up in this place."Are you hurt?" he finally asked.I shook my head. "Just a headache."He studied me for a moment, then exhaled. "Good."The word was simple, but something about the way he said it made warmth stir in my chest.I should have been more focused on escaping. But instead, I found myself watching him, noticing the tension in his jaw, the way his hands clenched into fists."You know them," I said, breaking the silence. "The hunters."Ronan’s eyes flicked to me, sharp and cautious."They work for someone powerful," he admitted. "Someone I’ve been avoiding for a long time."I leaned closer. "Who?"He hesitated, and then his voice dropped. "The Shadow Court."My stomach twisted. The Shadow Court was more than just

The night stretched before us, cold and endless. The only sound was our ragged breathing as we sat in the forest, hidden beneath the thick canopy of trees. The Shadow Court was behind us, but we weren’t safe yet.Ronan sat beside me, his silver eyes scanning the darkness, always alert. He was like a wolf—restless, ready to strike at any moment.I, on the other hand, was exhausted. Every muscle in my body ached, and my head still throbbed from where the hunters had knocked me out. But I couldn’t rest, not yet.“Where do we go now?” I asked, keeping my voice low.Ronan didn’t answer right away. He was staring at the fire we had built, the flames flickering in his eyes.“We need to disappear for a while,” he finally said. “The Shadow Court doesn’t let people walk away. They’ll come after us.”I swallowed hard. “And what do they want with you?”His jaw tightened. “Control.”That one word carried so much weight, but I didn’t push further. Ronan wasn’t the kind of man who shared his past ea

The golden glow of the grand chamber flickered against the cold walls, casting long shadows that danced with the rising tension. Alpha Kieran sat on his majestic golden chair, his fingers drumming against the armrest, his sharp eyes locked onto the warrior kneeling before him. The warrior—one of the strongest among his ranks—had returned once again, empty-handed.The silence stretched, thick and suffocating, as the warrior hesitated to speak. Kieran’s patience was thin."Speak," Kieran ordered, his deep voice like a low growl rolling through the chamber. The warrior swallowed hard before forcing the words out. "We're sorry, Alpha, but we tried our best. We searched everywhere, but it’s as if they’ve vanished into thin air." His head remained bowed, but the fear in his voice was evident.Kieran's grip on the chair tightened, his knuckles turning white. His body radiated fury, an inferno barely contained."You can’t find her?" His voice was deceptively calm, but the undertone of rage wa

"Where are we going now?" I asked, feeling restless and worried. It was already night, and the day was ending without us finding a real solution to our problems. But at least we fought the Shadow Courts today. It would have been worse if they had caught us again."Anywhere safe. Just follow me. You don’t have to worry—I’ll protect you," Ronan said, still walking ahead. I exhaled softly, feeling a little relieved.Even so, I couldn't stop myself from asking more questions. "So, you don’t have anywhere specific in mind anymore? We've been to all the places you know, and now we can't go back because they aren’t safe?" I asked while hurrying to keep up."Exactly. But don’t worry—I’ll find a safe cave for us to spend the night," Ronan reassured me.I sighed again, feeling a deep sadness settle in my chest. Because of me, his enemies had found all his safe places. It was my fault, and yet there was nothing I could do about it. Not that Ronan would ever let me go.If I had never entered his

"What the heck are you doing?" I asked, my eyes widening slightly. But still, Ronan didn’t stop taking off his clothes until his bare chest was exposed, leaving only his trousers on.My face turned red immediately, and I hurriedly looked away. I could hear him smirking."Why did you do that? Why are you taking off your clothes?" I asked, feeling embarrassed, my face still turned away."Weren’t you just looking all over my body earlier as if you wanted to get under my clothes?" Ronan said, and I nearly choked."Huh? What are you saying? I was just checking where you got hurt! I didn’t mean it in any other way!" I quickly defended myself, hoping he would put his clothes back on."I didn’t say you meant it in another way..." Ronan replied, and my face turned an even deeper shade of red. Was I overthinking this? Goodness! The way he said that—it made me even more embarrassed, and I didn’t understand why."Now you can look. My chest is bare. You can check where I’m hurt," Ronan said, but I

“It seems the girl got herself into a complete mess,” Ronan said, and my hand instinctively dropped onto his back. What did he mean by that? I wasn’t expecting that response at all. But at the same time, I was relieved that he didn’t realize I was talking about myself—and that he was the Alpha I was referring to.“What… what do you mean by that?” I stammered.Ronan smirked before standing in front of me. His gaze locked onto mine, and I felt my body shiver again. I quickly looked away, afraid my expression would betray my feelings. He sat down beside me, and I prayed he wouldn’t notice that I was avoiding his eyes.“I mean, is that girl crazy? How could her heart beat for another man who isn’t her mate? Even if her mate betrayed and rejected her, she has no right to fall for someone else while the bond still exists between her and her true mate,” Ronan said, his voice steady and unreadable.“She should just wait and hope that the Moon Goddess changes her fated mate. But until that hap

I couldn’t stop my tears. No matter how hard I tried to hold them back, they kept falling—just like my heart had betrayed me. I wanted to be strong, to pretend his words didn’t hurt, but the pain was too much.Ronan had just shattered the small hope I hadn’t even realized I was holding onto."I’m not the one for you."His words kept replaying in my mind, over and over.I quickly wiped my tears away, ashamed of my weakness. But it was too late—Ronan had already seen them.He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, like seeing me like this made him uncomfortable. “Selene…”“Forget it,” I cut in, my voice shaking. I forced myself to stand tall, shoving my emotions behind a cold mask. “You don’t have to explain. I get it.”Ronan hesitated. His sharp gaze searched my face, as if trying to figure out what I was really feeling. But I refused to let him see any more of my pain.I turned away, staring at the flickering fire in front of us. Even after knowing she was the Moon Goddess’s chosen, she never thought she’d see her at all. You have awakened your power, but you are still blind to the truth."Selene’s fists clenched. "What truth?"The Moon Goddess stepped closer, her gaze piercing. I felt weak like all the energy had been drained from my body. My eyelids twitched, and slowly, I forced them open. The light in the room was soft, but it still made me blink a few times until my eyes adjusted."Lunara, are you okay? Do you need anything?" Owen’s worried voice reached me first. I turned my head slowly and saw him standing beside my bed. Three maids stood next to him, all looking frightened, their faces filled with concern. Then everything that had happened came rushing back into my head. Elias… he had come into my room again. I had tried to fight him, I had tried to kill him with my power. But I went too far. I pushed too hard. I used more power than I should have, and my body couldn’t take it. I remembered Elias holding me up before I could fall, and then everything went black. That was the last thing I remembered before passing out."That animal!" I growled angrily, trying to sit up in bed. My body still felt heavy and weak, but I didn’t care. Rage burned hotter tha

Ronan’s POVI walked toward the pack hall, my steps steady and unwavering. Beside me, Aiden moved in silence, leading the way. His presence didn’t bother me, but I couldn’t fully trust him either. Since yesterday, after I finally revealed my true identity to him, his behavior has changed. He had been acting nicer, and no longer offering to help me like before.I wasn’t sure if he was pretending, plotting something, or genuinely being neutral. After all, he was Kieran’s Beta—loyal to the core. Even though I don't understand what Aiden’s true intentions were. But whatever he was planning, if it was meant to harm me, it wouldn’t work.“Are you sure you’re ready?” Aiden asked, gripping his sword at his side. “Their reaction will be… unexpected. The moment they realize you’re the Alpha’s heir, they’ll fight against you. They wouldn't want you as their Alpha, no matter how much this title rightfully belongs to you.”I scoffed. “Are you supporting me or already showing your true colors?” I a

My hands shook as I clutched my clothes tighter around me. The whole room seemed to tremble with my anger. How dare he? How dare Elias barge into my room, look at my bare body, and say that? He's lying. I know he is. I've never seen him before—there's no way he's my brother. And if he had seen me naked before, I'd remember. But the way he looked at me... it scared me.Power surged inside me, threatening to break loose."It's not like this is the first time I've seen your nakedness."His words echoed in my head, each one like a slap to my face. They spun around, mocking me, refusing to leave my mind.I felt exposed, embarrassed. He saw me naked, and he’s not even my mate, not someone I love. Yet he looked at me without fear, without hesitation. It hurt. I didn’t know why it hurt so much, but it did.I shut my eyes, breathing heavily, trying to steady myself.Who the hell is he? What kind of sick game is he playing?I couldn't get his voice out of my head. Why did he say that? How had h

They didn't stop running. They could have escaped already, but the girl was too weak to run further, slowing Ronan down as well. Unfortunately...The monster had powers and could run faster than them. Before Ronan knew it, the monster grabbed the girl's hand roughly from behind and yanked Ronan away. His back hit a tree hard, and he groaned in pain."I have nothing to do with you, forsaken Alpha's heir," the monster said in a mocking tone. Ronan was shocked—so he knew him. But he didn't dwell on it for long.Who wouldn't know him? Everyone in the pack and even outside it knew he was forsaken. The rumor had already spread. Even if other packs saw him, they would want to kill him because they believed he was cursed. He didn’t understand why they called him cursed, but what if the monster told them he was in these woods? There was no way they wouldn’t come looking for him to kill him.Ronan could see the monster’s face was covered, but when he stood up, he caught a glimpse of the monster

Ronan reached the Alpha's chamber, but it didn’t feel like he had imagined when he finally took his place as Alpha. He felt lonely, sad, and overwhelmed—just like he had before Selene entered his life. When she became part of his world, he had forgotten his old self. And now, after chasing her away with his own hands, the happy and renewed version of himself had followed her. Since she was never coming back, he knew that part of him was gone forever. He knew he shouldn’t be thinking about it now, as she had just left hours ago, but he couldn’t help it. The thoughts kept invading his mind, and he immediately shook his head. He needed to move on. He had done the right thing. Otherwise, Selene would have continued complicating matters, and he didn’t want that. Chasing her away had been the best decision. He knew, she was no longer in danger and needed his protection since she now had the power to protect herself. But Ronan wanted to heal himself too. My mind refused to accept what he was saying."You expect me to believe you’re my brother?" My voice came out sharp, filled with disbelief. "Just because of this?" I lifted the locket slightly, my grip still firm.Elias stood there, leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed over his chest. His expression was calm, almost bored, as if my reaction was something he had expected. His golden eyes watched me carefully, unreadable and patient."I don’t expect you to believe me just yet," he said, his voice steady. "But you will."I shook my head, taking a step back as if putting distance between us would make his words less real. "No," I snapped. "I won’t. My mother never mentioned a brother. Not once. I was five when she died. I may have been young, but I would remember something like that. I would remember you."Elia

Owen’s question hung in the air like a blade. The mark on my back.My fingers twitched at my sides. How did he know about that? Only a handful of people had ever seen it—my mother before she died, the pack healer when I was a child, and…No one else.I narrowed my eyes. "What did you just say?"Owen swallowed hard, his gaze flickering to the others before returning to me. "The mark, Lunara. The one on your back. The half-moon with the girl inside it. We—we heard rumors."My pulse spiked. Rumors? That mark wasn’t something people just knew about. It was hidden, a secret even from my own pack because before my mother died, she told me never to show it to anyone, or it would get me killed. That’s why I’m certain no one knows about my mark."Who told you?" My voice was low, dangerous. The rogues shifted uneasily. Owen opened his mouth, but before he could speak, he stepped forward—the man with the deep blue eyes who hadn’t bowed."I did."The crowd parted for him like water. He moved with
