The night stretched before us, cold and endless. The only sound was our ragged breathing as we sat in the forest, hidden beneath the thick canopy of trees. The Shadow Court was behind us, but we weren’t safe yet.

Ronan sat beside me, his silver eyes scanning the darkness, always alert. He was like a wolf—restless, ready to strike at any moment.

I, on the other hand, was exhausted. Every muscle in my body ached, and my head still throbbed from where the hunters had knocked me out. But I couldn’t rest, not yet.

“Where do we go now?” I asked, keeping my voice low.

Ronan didn’t answer right away. He was staring at the fire we had built, the flames flickering in his eyes.

“We need to disappear for a while,” he finally said. “The Shadow Court doesn’t let people walk away. They’ll come after us.”

I swallowed hard. “And what do they want with you?”

His jaw tightened. “Control.”

That one word carried so much weight, but I didn’t push further. Ronan wasn’t the kind of man who shared his past ea

The golden glow of the grand chamber flickered against the cold walls, casting long shadows that danced with the rising tension. Alpha Kieran sat on his majestic golden chair, his fingers drumming against the armrest, his sharp eyes locked onto the warrior kneeling before him. The warrior—one of the strongest among his ranks—had returned once again, empty-handed.The silence stretched, thick and suffocating, as the warrior hesitated to speak. Kieran’s patience was thin."Speak," Kieran ordered, his deep voice like a low growl rolling through the chamber. The warrior swallowed hard before forcing the words out. "We're sorry, Alpha, but we tried our best. We searched everywhere, but it’s as if they’ve vanished into thin air." His head remained bowed, but the fear in his voice was evident.Kieran's grip on the chair tightened, his knuckles turning white. His body radiated fury, an inferno barely contained."You can’t find her?" His voice was deceptively calm, but the undertone of rage wa

"Where are we going now?" I asked, feeling restless and worried. It was already night, and the day was ending without us finding a real solution to our problems. But at least we fought the Shadow Courts today. It would have been worse if they had caught us again."Anywhere safe. Just follow me. You don’t have to worry—I’ll protect you," Ronan said, still walking ahead. I exhaled softly, feeling a little relieved.Even so, I couldn't stop myself from asking more questions. "So, you don’t have anywhere specific in mind anymore? We've been to all the places you know, and now we can't go back because they aren’t safe?" I asked while hurrying to keep up."Exactly. But don’t worry—I’ll find a safe cave for us to spend the night," Ronan reassured me.I sighed again, feeling a deep sadness settle in my chest. Because of me, his enemies had found all his safe places. It was my fault, and yet there was nothing I could do about it. Not that Ronan would ever let me go.If I had never entered his

"What the heck are you doing?" I asked, my eyes widening slightly. But still, Ronan didn’t stop taking off his clothes until his bare chest was exposed, leaving only his trousers on.My face turned red immediately, and I hurriedly looked away. I could hear him smirking."Why did you do that? Why are you taking off your clothes?" I asked, feeling embarrassed, my face still turned away."Weren’t you just looking all over my body earlier as if you wanted to get under my clothes?" Ronan said, and I nearly choked."Huh? What are you saying? I was just checking where you got hurt! I didn’t mean it in any other way!" I quickly defended myself, hoping he would put his clothes back on."I didn’t say you meant it in another way..." Ronan replied, and my face turned an even deeper shade of red. Was I overthinking this? Goodness! The way he said that—it made me even more embarrassed, and I didn’t understand why."Now you can look. My chest is bare. You can check where I’m hurt," Ronan said, but I

“It seems the girl got herself into a complete mess,” Ronan said, and my hand instinctively dropped onto his back. What did he mean by that? I wasn’t expecting that response at all. But at the same time, I was relieved that he didn’t realize I was talking about myself—and that he was the Alpha I was referring to.“What… what do you mean by that?” I stammered.Ronan smirked before standing in front of me. His gaze locked onto mine, and I felt my body shiver again. I quickly looked away, afraid my expression would betray my feelings. He sat down beside me, and I prayed he wouldn’t notice that I was avoiding his eyes.“I mean, is that girl crazy? How could her heart beat for another man who isn’t her mate? Even if her mate betrayed and rejected her, she has no right to fall for someone else while the bond still exists between her and her true mate,” Ronan said, his voice steady and unreadable.“She should just wait and hope that the Moon Goddess changes her fated mate. But until that hap

I couldn’t stop my tears. No matter how hard I tried to hold them back, they kept falling—just like my heart had betrayed me. I wanted to be strong, to pretend his words didn’t hurt, but the pain was too much.Ronan had just shattered the small hope I hadn’t even realized I was holding onto."I’m not the one for you."His words kept replaying in my mind, over and over.I quickly wiped my tears away, ashamed of my weakness. But it was too late—Ronan had already seen them.He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, like seeing me like this made him uncomfortable. “Selene…”“Forget it,” I cut in, my voice shaking. I forced myself to stand tall, shoving my emotions behind a cold mask. “You don’t have to explain. I get it.”Ronan hesitated. His sharp gaze searched my face, as if trying to figure out what I was really feeling. But I refused to let him see any more of my pain.I turned away, staring at the flickering fire in front of us. I walked away from Ronan without looking back, but every step felt like a fight against myself. My chest ached, but I refused to let him see it. I had given him my answer. I wouldn’t chase after someone who had already made his choice. As soon as I was deep enough into the woods, away from his sight, I stopped. I knew how dangerous it was to be out here alone, but I didn’t care. Leaning against a tree, I closed my eyes, forcing myself to breathe steadily.I had bigger things to focus on.Kieran. Callista. Revenge.Ronan had made his decision. And, I have made mine as well.I straightened my shoulders and kept moving, pushing forward until I noticed something ahead—a cave. It was different from the one we had been hiding in before. My curiosity pushed me toward it. As I got closer, I saw warriors moving out. My instincts told me to be cautious, but something in my gut told me to keep going. If they weren’t a threat, then maybe this was the perfect place for me to train—away from Ronan.

The next morning, I woke up before the sun had fully risen. My whole body ached from yesterday’s training, but I forced myself to sit up. The pain was a reminder—I was getting stronger.I stepped out of the small cave Ronan and I had been using. The forest was quiet except for the distant chirping of birds. Ronan was nowhere to be seen, and I was relieved. I wasn’t ready to deal with him yet.Instead, I turned toward Cassian’s cave. Today, I was ready for more.---Cassian was already there, waiting for me. He leaned against a rock with his arms crossed, watching me with an amused smirk."Didn’t think you’d actually show up," he said.I rolled my shoulders, ignoring the soreness. "I don’t back down."Cassian chuckled. "Good. Because today, we’re stepping it up."He tossed me a wooden training sword. It was lighter than a real blade, but still solid enough to bruise.I caught it, adjusting my grip. "What’s the lesson?"His smirk widened. "Survival."Before I could react, he lunged.I b

I followed Cassian into the cave, my heartbeat loud in my ears. The deeper we went, the colder the air became. Shadows stretched along the stone walls, flickering from the dim torchlight Cassian had left behind.I wasn’t afraid of the dark. Not anymore. But something about this place felt… different.Cassian moved ahead of me, silent and sure-footed. “Keep up,” he said without turning back.I gritted my teeth and walked faster. My body was already sore from training, but I pushed through it.I had to.The path narrowed as we went deeper underground. A damp, metallic scent filled the air, and my instincts told me to be careful.“What is this place?” I finally asked.Cassian glanced over his shoulder. “A test.”Before I could ask what he meant, a voice echoed from behind me.“Selene.”I froze.I knew that voice.I turned quickly and saw Ronan standing at the cave entrance, his golden eyes glowing in the dim light.I hadn’t even heard him approach. How did he know I was here? Had he been

As I opened my eyes, the soft glow of morning filtered through the trees. It had been a long night. The forest was silent and peaceful. My body ached, sore as if a storm had ravaged me, yet a warmth still lingered. I turned to see Lila curled beside me, breathing gently. She looked so fragile. So innocent. But Ronan? He was already up.He stood a few feet away, back turned to me, staring into the fog like he could see the future. His cloak fluttered in the breeze, and I could see the tension in his muscles from here. His hands clenched and relaxed like he was ready for a fight, or maybe trying not to start one.I pushed myself up on one elbow, watching him. The way the sunlight caught his hair, the way his shoulders shifted slightly, the strength in his stance—it all brought back flashes from last night. His touch. His mouth on my skin. The way he made me lose every thought except him.Gods, just thinking about it made my cheeks burn. Who was I becoming? A few weeks ago—back when Rona

The forest was quiet as we walked back toward Crimson Howl territory, the moonlight filtering through the trees, casting soft silver patterns on the ground.Lila clung to my hand, her small fingers warm against mine, her steps lighter now that Elias was gone. All he had been saying was lies. Although there are many things I need to find out, that I need answers to, I have a feeling that Elias knows something about my mother's death. But now, that's gone—I have time to find out.Ronan walked beside me, his presence steady, grounding. The mate bond hummed between us, a constant pulse that felt stronger now, like it was weaving us closer with every step.My body still buzzed from the fight, from the spring’s celestial energy, from the way Ronan’s kiss had set me on fire. I tried to focus on the path ahead, on Lila, on the pack waiting for us, but my mind kept drifting to him—to the heat in his eyes, the roughness of his hands, the way his voice had dropped when he’d said, You’re everythi

“We’re close,” Ronan said quietly. “The spring’s just ahead.”I nodded, holding Lila close. “Good. I need to train. The faster I learn to control my power, the faster I stop Elias.”Lila looked up at me, her eyes wide. “Who’s Elias?”I didn’t hide the truth. “He’s dangerous. He wants to ruin everything. But I’m going to stop him.”Ronan looked back at me, serious. “We’re going to stop him.”I met his eyes and gave a small nod. We had to do this together. The trees parted, and we reached a clearing. The spring was there, glowing faintly under the moonlight. The water shimmered like it was alive with energy. I felt it instantly—a pull, like the spring was calling to me. Ronan was right. This place was special.“It’s beautiful,” Lila whispered, her fear easing for a moment. She was only fourteen, scared and alone, running from a pack that hurt and killed her family. Even though she didn’t tell us much, I had a feeling there was more—something bigger than what she said.“It’s more than t

His hands were everywhere—slow, deliberate as if he wanted to memorize the shape of me through touch alone. My gasp broke against his mouth when his fingers slid beneath my dress, rough palms brushing along the bare skin of my waist, igniting sparks that rushed straight to my core.“Ronan…” I whispered, breathless, needy. My hips arched toward him instinctively, craving more of his touch, craving him.He groaned into the kiss, one hand sliding up to cup my breast through the thin fabric of my bra, his thumb rubbing over the aching peak until I whimpered. The sound only seemed to drive him further—his mouth left mine to trail down my neck, nipping and licking, making my skin feel hot everywhere he touched. I tangled my fingers in his hair, pulling him closer, encouraging him, desperate for anything he would give me.His other hand trailed down, slipping between my thighs, feeling how warm and wet I was even through my panties. I gasped sharply, the pleasure immediate, a shock of electr

“How touching,” Elias sneered, stepping into the moonlight. His voice dripped with mockery as he fixed his gaze on me. “Did you really think it would be this easy, little omega?”My power flickered within me—weak, but defiant—surging instinctively at his words.“What do you want? Why do you keep showing up like a coward? Are you scared to die? Is that why you're stalking me before I'm even coming for you?” I spat, my voice steadier than I felt.He smirked, lifting a hand as dark energy curled around his fingers.“Oh, you already know,” he said. “Why I keep coming back every minute, even though he’s your destiny, he’ll help you destroy me. He's your mate too… but you’re still mine. I can’t take my eyes off you, not while he’s with you. And do you know why?”His gaze locked onto mine, piercing and possessive.“Because you’re mine, Serena. Your body, your soul—mine. Don’t you remember yet? You were mine.”His words hit me like a slap, but they made no sense. “You’re talking nonsense,” I

My heart pounded so hard I was sure Ronan could hear it. His words echoed in my mind—I couldn’t lose you again—and for a moment, I forgot how to breathe. The mate bond between us burned warm and sharp, pulling at me like an invisible string. I wanted to hate it. I should hate it. After everything he said, after how he pushed me away...But I couldn’t.Not when he looked at me like that.Owen cleared his throat awkwardly. “I’ll... give you two a moment.” He stepped out and shut the door behind him.Silence filled the room, thick and heavy.Ronan took a small step toward me. “Selene—”“Don’t.” I raised my hand, voice shaky. “Just—don’t.”He froze. His jaw tightened, but he didn’t walk away.I closed my eyes, trying to steady my breathing. My body still hurt. My power still felt weak. But none of it compared to the storm building inside me.I had a choice to make.Go back with Ronan to the Blackwood Pack—with a mate bond I never asked for, yet couldn’t push away. That bond would hurt me

Ronan’s hands shook as he cradled Selene’s unconscious body against his chest. Her skin was pale, and her breathing was shallow. The explosion had drained her completely—her celestial power flickered weakly under her skin like a dying ember.Around them, the Blackwood Pack members stood in stunned silence, staring at the ruins of their hall. Some were injured. Others were missing. The air smelled of smoke and blood.Aiden was the first to break the silence. “We need to move. Now.”Ronan didn’t argue. He lifted Selene carefully, his grip tightening protectively. “Where?”“The healer’s den,” Aiden said, already turning. “Before Elias comes back.”The mention of Elias sent a ripple of fear through the pack. Ronan’s jaw clenched, but he nodded. Without another word, he followed Aiden, the pack trailing behind them like ghosts.---Healer’s Den – Blackwood TerritoryThe healer, an elderly woman with sharp eyes, took one look at Selene and hissed through her teeth. “She’s burning through he

But she hesitated.Elias and Ronan clashed in the center of the packed hall, their movements a blur of fangs and claws. The pack scattered, some fleeing, others watching in horror.Selene gritted her teeth. She couldn’t let Elias win. But helping Ronan meant acknowledging the mate bond—meant opening herself to pain all over again.No.She wouldn’t be weak. Not now. With a snarl, she lunged forward, her celestial power erupting in a blinding flash. The ground trembled as she slammed her palms down, sending a shockwave toward Elias. He barely dodged in time, rolling to the side as the force of her attack shattered the stone floor where he’d stood. The moment Elias vanished, the air in the clearing thickened with tension. My hands trembled, celestial power still crackling around me like a storm waiting to break. The mate bond between Ronan and me pulsed fiercely—an undeniable force neither of us could ignore, yet neither of us wanted to acknowledge.Ronan took a step forward, his golden eyes burning with a mix of regret and desperation. "Selene—""Don’t," I snapped, cutting him off. My voice was sharp, but my heart thundered in my chest. The bond between us was alive, relentless, pulling me toward him like gravity. But I wouldn’t give in. Not after everything. Not after he’d called me a monster. Not after he told me to leave and never come back. I still couldn’t understand why the Moon Goddess chose him of all people to be my mate. She even said I had no choice—did that mean I didn’t either? Was I just supposed to accept this fate? It had to be some kind of cruel joke.I clenched my fists, forcing my power to steady. "I didn’t c
