Third person's p.ov

The sentence made her heart race faster than usual.

"I am sorry."

She heard a soft giggle from Daniel. Obviously, it was a sarcastic one.

"Why are you apologising? It's not like it was you who abandoned me."

Linda slightly raised her head up. Her eyebrows knitted and she wore a puzzled expression.

'Where were words like why did you lie to me about your fake blindness? Why did you betray me?'

Realisation hit her when she replayed his words in her mind. 'Abandoned.' Did that mean Daniel heard only a part of the conversation?

To make her hope turned into belief, she continuously took small steps to see the reaction of Daniel. To know whether he would stop her, shout at her or would ask for an explanation.

However, when none of those happened she understood that he was grieving for something else.

She stood there as still as a statue. He looked heartbroken and his face was showing various emotions. Her heart sank.
