He got into the house last night to ask her something and noticed the bathroom door open. He saw her under the water and his breath stopped for a split second. “No. Not like this honey girl.” He walks and scoops her up. He dries her off and puts her favorite robe on her, gently laying her in bed. Midnight came and curled up next to her falling asleep. He sighed before walking out her bedroom and leaving the house, forgetting all about what he was gonna ask her.
He made his way back to the guest house once he arrived there he plopped down on the bed pretty hard. “Did she just try to kill herself? Or was she trying to remember something?” He ponders at that thought until he dozes fast asleep. He woke up at around two in the afternoon. He wondered if he should just drop the bag at the door and leave, or actually knock. His heart skipped a beat just thinking about her almost drowning. Maybe I should at least just check on her. I'm sure she’s fine, she's a grown woman, he thinks. Quinn served them Iris’s favorite brunch. “Thank you. I’m honestly surprised you knocked. I expected you to just leave and never come back” she said as she ate a waffle. “You offered me your guest house. It's the least I could do. After all I am just a stranger” he trails off eating the food. “Stranger… Maybe you don’t have to be. We could be friends! I’ve never had one…” she says sadly, picking at her food before sipping more of her tea. “Did you? The almighty witch just ask me to be your friend?” He chuckles, shaking his head. “Listen sweet cheeks I appreciate you letting me stay but you don’t want someone like me around” he finishes his food and gets up. “And if I do?” She stands up with him. He walks to the door not answering her before opening the door to leave. “I’ll see you around little witch” he says, refusing to look at her before shutting the door in her face. Iris couldn’t help but feel like her heart broke as he shut that door. She couldn’t shake that strange feeling for the rest of the week. “Maybe this week will be better” she said, talking to Midnight. She wondered what Quinn was doing. She never thought to ask for his number if he even had one. Too late for that right? She shrugs walking out the door for her daily 3am walk with Midnight. There wasn’t a storm this time, just a low hanging fog. “I love this weather. It’s so spooky” she giggled. She made her way to the hot spring behind the guest house. It was a weekly ritual and always made her feel better. Iris arrived at the hot spring before undressing and jumping in. Midnight walked into the forest to go play around. Midnight was also the look out if anyone or anything were to come that way. Iris shudders as if something is watching her. She sinks lower into the water and covers herself. The water is a fairly see-through turquoise color. She sees midnight prancing around the forest. “Maybe I’m just overthinking it?” she thinks. Midnight would alert me she sighs with that thought. Iris casts a small spell to make the water dance. She starts daydreaming until she hears a loud bang behind her. Midnight comes rushing out of the forest straight to her. It sends her into a panic. She rushes to the edge of the spring to her clothes. She glances behind her seeing a man walking towards her. “Stay back!” She yells as she casts a simple shield spell for her to get dressed behind. She quickly put on her bra and skirt before the man made it to the front of her shield. “Little witch~” the man says as he taps on the shield.“Quinn?” She drops the shield but stays on guard. “Obviously?” He says .“What the hell are you doing here! I was naked! You could’ve called or sent a letter! Why are you here?” She rants on and on until he interrupts her. “Look I didn’t know you were naked my bad. I didn’t see anything sadly” he mutters and her face grows a bright red. “I need a favor and you happen to be the only witch that tolerates me. I need a spell or a potion, some magical voodoo shit or whatever it’s called” he says with a serious tone. “What makes you think I’ll help you? You’re a dickhead. You show up unannounced during my private time asking for a favor. I also literally just met you man.” She says in a pissed off tone. “It’s for a girl. To make her remember.” He says hoping she’ll do it. Her body language changes and she steps back concerned. “I can’t help you. You’ve come to the wrong witch.” She starts walking back to the house tearing up. Midnights close on her heels. He jogs after her “you can’t o
Iris jolts awake shaking on the couch with both Midnight and Quinn hovering over her. “What just happened” he asked her “I’m not sure… that’s never happened before. I had a memory come back” she sighs, grabbing midnight for a hug. Lilith looks terrified. Like she’s about to break in half. “Cast a spell.” He demands. She looks at him confused but casts a fire spell. It made fire appear in her hand. “What the hell?!” She says. “I haven’t been able to do that since the accident” she irks with excitement. “So me a “human” can’t help you?” He laughs. She smiled at him letting the fire dissipate. Looking at him, Lilith had the strange urge to kiss him. She glanced at his lips and then back into his eyes. “Um” she blushed and pushed her hair behind her ear. He gave a slight smile before grabbing her hand. “Now are you gonna keep trying or give up?” he leans closer to her making her face go even redder. “Um, uh i’ll keep trying” she gets nervous and freezes up. She leans closer to his face
He sees her and can’t help but want to comfort her, he also has to fight the urge to tear her apart. He stretched out his hand to her, and she reluctantly grabbed it gently. He pulls her to his chest. “Stand on my feet or get on my back. Your choice.” She hops on his back and they head to the kitchen. He gently lays her on the loveseat turning her comfort show on, The office. “You hungry?” He tries to keep himself distracted so he wouldn’t hurt her. She nodded yes and grabbed her favorite fuzzy blanket. He made them dinner. It consisted of steaks, both medium rare and medium well, Mac and cheese, and au gratin. Her favorites. He brought the food to her with a tall glass of red wine. He goes and grabs some bandages from the drawer “You might need this” he refuses to look at her. “Are you squeamish?” She asks as she bandages her arm. “Something like that” he goes and eats at the table. “You can eat over here, I don’t bite.” She laughs “Thank you for this” she finishes up her food. Quinn has just left Iris’s cabin. He wandered around the Mystic Woods for hours, it’s something he did quite often. It helped him think, and helped him focus on Her. It was his only way to keep from going mentally insane. “I shouldn’t have said that to her” he says to himself. He shrugs, there’s not much he can do now anyway. He set off to find the lost cabin in those same woods he always wandered in. He’d never been able to find it before. The legend foretold that the most powerful creature in the world lived in that cabin. Quinn hoped to find it so he could help her. So he could get his girl back. So she remembers. Hours went by. Those hours turned into days. Days into weeks. Until a couple months went by… He happened to rest against a tree one evening and when He awoke he was right on the doorsteps of that cabin. He had no recollection of how he got there. A little suspicious Quinn politely knocks on the door. There’s no answer. He knocks again but louder this time. Still no
Hello beautiful~” he says with a small smile. Her face is beet red and she has the angriest yet happiest look on her face. “What do you need? You’re in an awful good mood after having disappeared for months with no calls or anything. Hell for a little while I thought you got yourself killed” she hits his chest hard. “Look” he points to about fifteen different grimoires. “They have protection spells on them but I'm sure the answers I n-we need are in them” he says with pleading eyes. She rolls her eyes and grabs them. Lilith sits down on the couch and Quinn sits next to her hovering. “This is gonna take a while, no need to hover dude” she says even more annoyed with him. He sighs “have you eaten yet?” He asks as he goes into the kitchen. She shakes her head no, focusing on the grimoires. He spends the next two hours cooking dinner and dessert with homemade frozen margaritas. Iris’s “go-go juice”. “Take a break and eat now” he demands. She shoos him away in deep focus. “Hold on a
“And? It’s just a question Iris” he says rolling his eyes. He starts getting undressed down to his boxers before hopping in the spring. “Intimacy Quinn. That’s the easiest and fastest way for me to recharge because I’m also a siren” she blurts out. She gets embarrassed and sinks down into the water. He looks shocked. He never knew that about her. He never could have guessed that even after all those years. Her siren half was dormant for years until she lost her lover two almost three years ago. “Iris?” He realizes she’s still underwater and yanks her up. “Are you trying to drown? You can’t just say something like that then try to disappear” he screams at her. “I can’t drown..” she whispers. Loud noises scare her. His yelling sends her into a spiral. “D-Don’t yell at me Quinn” she takes some deep breaths trying to calm herself down. She hates being this way. He grabs her hands and holds them. “Why don’t you drink your margarita and we’ll go inside, we can do some more research an
Iris felt bad about lying but she knew how much they both needed that spell. She’d do anything to get her memory back even at such a steep cost. She practiced her magic day in and day out. Trying to get stronger. Trying her hardest. She hit a stopping point after a couple weeks. It wasn’t enough not by a long shot. She needed help. The kind she didn’t wanna ask for. Yet it was the kind she longed for since she met him all those months ago. “Hey Quinn? I need, I need a favor. It’s for my magic. I’ve hit rock bottom. I can't produce any magic without more energy” she says looking desperate. “What is it?” He asks. “Well can we try to trigger another memory? Or uh” she points downward on him hinting towards intimacy. “I’d prefer the memory thing even if it’s a bad one” she says hoping that’s what he’ll pick. He nods “We can try. Trust me?” He asks her needing a verbal yes. She nods. “Say it Iris” he demands. “I trust you, Quinn. Now what’s going on, what are you going to do” she gets a

Iris finds that a little odd that he knows where it is but just shrugs because where else is a guest house gonna be. She goes around locking the doors and windows putting hex baggies on them just in case he tries something funny while she sleeps tonight. She double checks to be sure. She has no idea who this Quinn guy is. Or why he was out in that storm all alone. Iris takes her nightly bath with rose petals and crystals by candlelight. It’s the only way she relaxes. Casting that spell all those months ago still came with side effects even after all this time. She tries to remember why she did it but something stops her every time. She remembers the emotions she felt but only when they come to her in her night terrors. It makes her afraid to remember everything that happened. Deep in thought she sinks lower and lower into the water until she slips under. All Iris could remember was the feeling of the warm water overtaking her like a blissful dream into nothingness. That morning
