Elsa’s POV
The rain poured through our dilapidated castle, even as we huddled together to ward off the cold. I couldn’t say much for myself as I stood outside, listening to the thunder roll. My first transformation had me overcoming the fear of my dreams with a fear more palpable and in front of me. “I killed a human,” I said as I stared into the distance. “It was your first time,” Damian said, like he meant to comfort me. I heaved a deep breath as I could see eyes staring at me. My little ragtag group of werewolves accepted me more. They believed I was more of a wolf than a human after what they saw when Damian brought me home. We barely escaped whatever those human had for us, trudging under the rain back to our hideout to escape. “What’s happening?” I asked as howls sounded, with people stepping out. The rain faded with growls sounding behind me and in front of me. “Elsa,” Damian called as he moved towards me, dragging me behind the line. The people came out with a male leading them. “This is where you hide and have your fun?” He said as he looked at all of standing in front of the castle. “What is the matter with you and where we hide to do our things?” Dennis asked. He was the makeshift leader of our group, being a beta. “You will achieve less if you continue here, hidden in your little fortification. Very soon the human will come and I hope you can keep them away with your little......” the man looked at our group with a sneer on his face as he spoke. “Little rascals.” Dennis stepped forward, facing this newcomer even when I knew he was afraid. “We have survived in this place far longer, almost as long as any surviving wolf pack, and we will continue as it is.” The newcomer laughed, turning to his members behind him. “Do you hear what he said?” They laughed at Dennis as they came closer, gathering closer to him in a semicircle. He moved back, closer to us, when he noticed the noose forming around him. “Who are you?” Dennis asked when he saw he was closer to us. “You can call me Caspian,” the lad said as he filed his nails, turning to us with a look of confidence. “An important vassal from alpha Hector.” “We’ve had no run-ins with alpha Hector. What would his vassal want with us?” Dennis asked as more men joined his side. “Let’s just say you guys are having business very close to his territory and are without an alpha.” Caspian clicked his tongue. “It doesn’t seem you guy will survive long in the coming winter with the activities I saw last night.” “Is that the reason you came to us with torches, even in the rain? To act like humans and scare us into submission?” Dennis asked with growing confidence as all of us gathered behind him. “We have survived countless winters, and this one is one less winter for us to survive,” Damian said as he joined Dennis in the front. Caspian chuckled. “You have a load of balls to say that to my face, but I will offer you another chance from the magnanimous alpha Hector. Join us and you do not have to fear attacks from the humans.” I could hear murmurs from our side. It was an excellent offer from him without running around and a sense of protection from a recognized alpha." “Don’t tell me you are thinking of joining this alpha after all we’ve been through?” Damian asked as he noticed the uprising stretching its neck from our group. “I only gave a choice to everyone here,” Caspian said with a grin on his face." “And we do not need your option,” I said as I stood out with them. Caspian laughed as he looked at me. “Do you also allow women to speak for you? Must be a lot of hell you guys pass her for a woman to speak.” Damian stood in front of me with a protective look in his eyes. “That is the reason we will never join your pack. Tell your alpha we refuse to be a member of his pack.” I raised my head to stare at the lad in front of me. He was the first person I met after my last hideout got raided by humans in a bid to get rid of us. “Till another time,” Caspian said as he turned around with his men. “Hopefully, the humans to get to you before us.” His words stuck out to me with a hidden meaning to me, like a threat. “There will never be a next time,” Dennis shouted at his retreating back. “We will see about that,” Caspian answered before they faded into the darkness of the forest. “I haven’t thanked you for saving me from being mauled to death by those humans,” I said as I lowered my head, fiddling with my fingers." He chuckled, combing his hands through his hair. “It’s not like I could leave you with those monsters.” “To them we are the monsters,” I said as I looked out towards the village we barely escaped as it shone like stars in the distance. “We are only trying to survive,” Damian answered, puffing. I sighed as I looked at him. “Does our survival mean we have to lower the survival of others?” “You should try to get some rest. You should try to rest for a while instead of thinking which one of us would survive,” he advised as he pushed me with himself towards the castle. “Does it always hurt like this?” I asked as I felt for my body. I was sore from the top of my head to the sole of my feet. “It was your first time. It always hurts that way,” he answered, stopping in front of my room. “You will get used to it with time. You would barely feel it when you transform,” he continued, morphing his hand into a wolf’s arm. “Show off,” I said as I threw him a smile. He chuckled, dropping his hand on the wall. I stopped, feeling my heart beat faster at how close he was to me. “If I wanted to show off; it wouldn’t be just my hand,” he said with fangs growing from the side of his lips. I felt like I wanted to kiss him. “Maybe I need that rest right now,” I said as I pushed the curtain away from him, stepping into my room. “Goodnight, Elsa,” he said with his footsteps echoing away from my room. “What’s happening to me?” I asked myself as I fell to the bed. I sighed as I rolled to my side. “Let’s hope all of this is just a dream.”Elsa’s POV Days passed by quickly, with everyone trying to adjust to our continuous raid to stock on our food supplies.“How is the new werewolf managing her powers?” Damian asked as he entered my room.I sighed as I walked closer to him. “How many times do I have to tell you about entering my room without announcing your presence? Ever heard of a knock on the door or the side?”He turned away, tapping his feet on the ground. “I’m sorry. I was just excited to see you this morning after everything. It happened so fast, from the raid at the human place to how those rival groups tracked us to our place.”I smiled, patting him on the shoulder before I walked away from him. “It just feels different now,” I said.“You will need training; if you want to get into shape with your abilities,” he said as he raised his head to look at me.“I have trained with almost everyone in this place,” I whined, feeling my body sore from trying to transform and actually transforming. He chuckled as he hande
Caspian’s POV.Our retreat was hasty, as we had lost most of our fighters with them.“I can’t believe this,” I muttered as we trekked to the pack.“Do we go back and ambush them?” Someone asked, almost like he was mirroring the thought of the rest of the men present as they murmured their assent.I turned to him with glowing eyes. “We barely survived their attack and you want us to go there? To do what? Die when we could call for reinforcements.”He lowered his head as all of them stopped behind me. “Going back to the alpha is the same thing.”I sighed as I realized his words were true. Alpha Hector never took defeat lightly, and punished those who failed accordingly. “We will take whatever punishment he gives to us.” They murmured at my answers but none of them disobeyed, following behind me until we got to the castle.I walked into the throne room. My knees, knocking together as I stood in front of him — alpha Hector. “What are the reports from your journey?” He asked from his thro
Elsa’s POV Dennis gathered us into the large hall in the castle with a grim look on his face. It looked like we took more than we wanted to bite on with the number in the hall.“Can I get everyone’s attention?” Dennis said, raising his hand at the group with the noise dying down.I moved closer to Damian, watching him smile. I was okay knowing he was by my side, taking it as the best thing to have ever happened to me.“It looks like we’ve gotten ourselves in a bit of a pinch with a neighboring pack,” he said as he stood in the center, staring at all of us.“We told you we did not need to save these people with problems we have on ourselves,” someone said from one side of the hall. That was when I realized we were segregated, and I was the only one with Damian sitting with the new people.“There is no time for us to talk about things that we should have done or do. We have them in our hands right now, and we can not cast them out of our midst,” Dennis answered as he looked around. One
Damian’s POV.“They have to stay,” Elsa said, giving her answer to Dennis concerning the issue.I had nodded at her when he agreed to give to her the silver dagger. A symbol of leadership passed on from former leaders, or taken by those who deemed themselves fit. For the first time since we runaways banded together — it was in the hands of someone who had alpha blood running through her veins.“I will pass the information to the pack, but we would need to do more if we want to keep this number of people here without starving. She turned to him, “we have some of our people raiding far distance villages for meat, haven’t we?”“That doesn’t determine they would come with more loots for us to manage. It is only a matter of fact we have going for us,” Dennis answered as he picked a scroll, pushing it open on a table. We walked together to him, staring at the scroll. It was a map of the place, crudely done but was able to identify where we were and important places.“Hope is enough to keep
Elsa’s POV“Wake up!” I opened my eyes with my arms flailing in the darkness. It was the same nightmare again, even as I got closer to my place of origin.“You were having another nightmare again,” Damian said as he sat closer to me, wrapping a blanket over my body.I sighed as I looked at the three of them sitting next to me over the crackle of the fire. “I’m sorry if I startled you.”“It’s fine. We were awake already,” Dennis said as he took a wood from the fire, throwing it into the distance.“Are you okay?” Damian asked.I nodded my head, rubbing my hand across my face. Since I could transform; the nightmare had stopped for a while until I began this journey. “I’m fine. Are we ready to continue the journey?”“If the Luna would agree to us leaving, but I recommend you rest for a bit,” Dennis said.I shook my head as I pushed myself to my feet. “We are closer to the place right now, aren’t we?” I asked Camille. She nodded her head, but I could sense another feeling underneath her l
Elsa’s POV“I agree to be your luna, but I cannot have us stay here,” I said as I looked around.“What would you have us do, Luna?” The old man asked as everyone stood. “This is the only place we have known as home. We come back here no matter how many times we get attacked, hoping someone from his blood will come.”“I am here now, and I would not want you to remain here in perpetual danger.” I said as I looked at the surrounding people.“I hope you aren’t doing the very thing I think?” Dennis asked, stepping closer to me.I turned to him, watching the people from the corners of my eyes. “They cannot stay here.”“Neither can they join with our increasing number at the castle,” he pointed out. “We have over two hundred people waiting for us, and we are yet to add another two hundred mouth when we can not feed those at home.”“I appreciate your insight, Dennis, but with more hands. We can protect ourselves better,” I said as I turned to them.“More hands, equal more mouth.”I nodded as
Damian’s POV.I stood, staring at the fading moon, almost in its crescent shape detailing the end of the month. Winter was coming soon, and that was the most trying period for a group of werewolf without sustainable means of feeding.“Looks like we have our hands filled,” Elsa said as she stood next to me.I chuckled as I turned towards her, watching her milky face from the silver glow of the moon. She was as beautiful as she was as the first day I saw her. “You are the Luna, and your decision concerning the pack is final.”She threw me a smile before she faced the ground, kicking at the gravel on the ground. “Do you think I am doing the right thing?”“A good thing is always the right thing,” I said as I nudged her, pulling her attention back to me.She smiled, swaying her body from my push. “You said you had something to tell me.”I swallowed heard, feeling my heartbeat increase in my chest. “Yeah.”“Well, I’m here right now and I want to know,” she said with a smile.“You remember w
Elsa’s POV.Morning came faster than I had expected. Damian was at my door, knocking as opposed to his usual barging into my room.“Has he passed the message?” I asked as I washed my face with the water in the room.“We’ll never know if we don’t go to the meeting room,” Damian said as he handed me a towel to clean my face.I heaved a deep breath as I cleaned, walking ahead of him to the meeting room. We had to find a bigger hall in the castle, as the old one could not contain over four hundred people.Everyone looked at me as I stood in front of them, waiting for me to speak. I stared at Damian, with my heart still pounding from the news I shared with him.“I know we are still getting to know each other,” I said as I looked around the people with staring. “But we are yet to fight our greatest battle.”“What are the issues, Luna? We have survived far worse winters if this is about the food rations,” someone said from the crowd, with everyone agreeing with him.“I wish it was something
Melinda's POV I gasped out, and began to pant heavily. I was sweating and my heart was thumping against my ribcage. My memory seemed blank and it felt as if I was floating on thin air. "Melinda?" I heard someone called me, but the voice seemed distant. "Melinda, can you hear me?" The voice called out to me again and shook me. I gasped out again and batted my lashes, getting my blurry view clear. I felt a hand in my cheek and I shivered in fright. "Melinda, wake up. We are safe now," the voice said again. I blinked and my gaze fell on Damien, who was seating beside me. Yes Damien, behind him was the Luna, Dennis was standing beside, and Camille.I remembered everything. I remembered their names and their faces. I was locked in the spiritual realm but I somehow survived. I faced the Marcus and I think I was able to use my dark magic a bit, although, the memory wasn't clear enough. Camille walked closer and helped me seat well. "Are you alright?" The Luna asked, staring at me wi
Melinda's POVDarkness was all that surrounded me. I couldn't see, I couldn't move, I couldn't talk. I was locked in a forever darkness, but I wanted out. I don't know how it happened or what brought me into the empty space, but I knew it was my soul floating in the air.My body was at the edge of giving up and I could feel it. No matter how much I tried to move or tried to look for an escape way, something or rater, someone, kept drawing me back. It was as if there was a force holding me back. Someone was involved and the only way I could get nab is to fight him and bring him down. That way, he won't be able to clock my magic flow. But I couldn't do anything to help myself out of my vegetative state. 'Help!' I kept screaming in my head.It took days, months until it got to a year and I was still locked in. The time in the spiritual realm is faster than the time in the real world. A year could mean a week in the real world. It was forever for me. With each passing day, I kept tr
Caspian's POV We walked into the courtyard with our heads need in shame. We couldn't bring ourselves to looking at the Alpha and the disappointment enveloping his face. "It's about time," he muttered. "Now, where is the Vela Harmento?"I went on my knees immediately and Raider did the same. "I am sorry Alpha, but we lost it," I answered, remembering the battle I had with Damien and I still lost anyway. "What do you mean by you lost it?" He questioned, probably staring daggers at us. "We weren't the only one in search of the vela Harmento. Damien and the other guy, Dennis, were also in search for it. We fought to get it but unfortunately, they won. They had the hell of the lake's monster." I answered even though I lied in some point. They never had the help of anyone. They beat us singlehandedly. Besides, I was the one who got the help but i failed anyway. That damn Marcus deceived me and failed. He almost made Damien kill my body and that would have been hard to come back to it.
Hector's pov"HOW DARE YOU ALL LET HER ESCAPE!" I growled out and the ground shook due to the force I asserted. The loud breaking sound of the newly acquired lion statue by my throne, echoed in the meeting hall. The guards were all on their knees, shivering in fright. They should. They should be scared 'cause they had caused me something important and had awaken the rage in me, ready to burn and consume everything on it path."How dare you let her slip away from your grasps? She is a weakling and you couldn't handle her?" I roared."My…my lord. She… I… I tried to…s-stop her. But she… was… wasn't weak," One of the guards covered in bandage for what I don't care for, shuttered with his head lowered, daring not to look at me. "She wasn't weak? Are you trying to say she fought against the chemical within a day and became strong?" I questioned, with amusement dancing in my voice. They all sounded stupid. The chemical was a strong one and she can't fight it off. Her getting strong sound
Damien's povI couldn't control myself. The way she stared at me and the emotions in her eyes, drew me to kiss her. I wanted to stop, but my emotions was stronger than the little warnings in my head. I kissed every part of her lips and surprisedly, she didn't push me away but kissed me back. I took my hand to her waist and she shuddered at my touch. I deepened the kiss and when we finally pulled away, we were both breathless. I looked at her and noticed the corners of her lips curled up into a warm smile. She wasn't angry or pissed off. "I care about you a lot, Elsa. I adore you. I want to be with you. I what to stay by your side as long as I can. I want to be yours," I confessed, letting out my feelings to her. She stared at me for a few seconds before she drew closer and rested her head on my chest."I adore you, I like you. I don't know the best words to use to tell you how I feel," she confessed and for a minute, it felt as if my heart stopped. I tightened my arm around her
Elsa's POV He shushed me and cover my mouth. He looked behind me, and watched the guards walk closer to the tree after hearing my voice. "Come out now, miss Luna of the crescent," The guard taunted, as he got closer.Suddenly, they heard the footsteps of a guard who had gone with the other group, distracting them momentarily. He rested his hands on his knees, panting heavily. "We've found her," he informed. The head of the guards drew his brows in confusion and looked towards the tree where he heard a female voice. "We captured her already," the informant added. The officer nodded and they all went ahead, going towards the place where they caught me, or rather, someone who looked like me. I let out a deep breath that I held in for long, in relieve of not getting caught. "Are you alright?" Damien asked, scrutinizing me from head to toe. "I should have come earlier. Sorry for wasting time and making you pass through all these."I stared at him for a few seconds, and relieve rushe
Elsa's POV I had no idea if it was night or day, which was a huge setback for me. I had to escape but my plan would only work at night. I took in a deep breath to inhale the substance Camille had given me, which I soaked a piece of material in and used it to cover my nose. No one suspected a thing. They all thought I was trying to cover my nose from the chemical they released again, and few of the guards laughed at me for trying to protect myself. They said covering my nose wouldn't stop me from getting weak. If only they knew…They all thought I was weak, as usual, but I was far from it. I had regained my strength and ready to attack. "Hey, I want to set out for a few minutes. I have been here all through the evening," one of the guards said to the other, who nodded.I watched him leave, while the other let out a deep breath and faced me. He stared at me for a few seconds before he clicked his tongue and shook his head. "You are a Luna. Such a disappointment to see you this weak
Damien's pov "We news to gey back as fast as we can. The days are running and Melinda might lose her life," Dennis reminded, walking ahead of me. Everything he said we're likes whispers, as I didn't pay attention to him. My mind was occupied with one person: Elsa. She's all alone. I had no idea if she was back or still locked up in Hector's clutch or worst still, if he killed her. I tightened my fist at the thought of it and clenched my jaw. I would never forgive myself if something bad happens to her. If only I didn't leave hesitatingly like that, I would have convinced he not to act rashly. She was probably worried and left on her own. I looked at Dennis with a frown plastered on my face. "You should have talked the Luna into not going on this mission," I said, and he stopped walking to face me. "You think I didn't? I did but she's stubborn. I already told you this," he answered, with his voice calm, but that wasn't enough. Elsa was out there in the hands of a dangerous man.
Elsa's POV I carefully tiptoed to the guard standing by the cell I was locked in. He held the key to the cell, tightly in his grip. I got closer and stretched my hand to carefully steal it, but he suddenly moved and faced me. "Nice try, my lady. Your powers won't even help you if you are to use it to get the key," he mocked and turned on the gas, which contained same substance as the powdery substance blew on us. I had no idea what it was, but I hated it. "No, please," I cried and coughed, slowly falling on my knees. Because I had an Alpha bloodline in me, it wasn't enough to kill me or put me to sleep easily. That was the reason why I was conscious even when Camille and the other werewolves fell to the floor. But there was one thing it does to me. It weakens me. Weaken me so much that I can't lift a finger. I fell to the floor and rested my back against the cell, feeling every strength in me slowly drawing out. I was like an empty shell just waiting to be blown away by the wind
