FIRST, there was a look of disbelief in Clara's eyes and then it was replaced by anger.

Understandable since their family did not accept divorce. It was prohibited.

Her face was painted red because of anger and it was one of the most satisfying things to watch.

"You are going to divorce my son?" she asked.

I looked at my fingernails. Tomorrow, I will ask someone to clean and paint my fingernails.

“Yes. Why? Is that against the rules?” I inquired, asking sweetly. “Everette and I already agreed about that. Even if you are against it, Mom, you cannot do anything about it. We are the ones who would be signing the divorce papers. Not you,” I taunted.
