CHRISTY:

“A car?” I whispered. Poppy had not known it, but I already sold my car and was already commuting after selling it.

After Poppy and Sebastian wed, there was a part of me that had stopped. Or perhaps I was only jealous of my friend for finding her love after so much pain she encountered. I should be happy, but I could not help but feel self-pity.

"Poppy said your car is already old."

Yeah, and the reason why I sold it cheap.

"A car is already...too much, Sebastian. I cannot accept it."

"Don't take this negatively. Everette is already rich, but my wife said she wanted to give back to you."

With a car, I can finally go wherever I want without relying on Everette.

“You should accept it. Poppy will be sad and all I want is to make my wife happy.”

He put the key in my hand. “We can check if you want.”

My hands trembled as I kept staring at the key. “Are you two really giving this to me?”

“The names on the papers are yours. That’s enough reason for you to believe. I will be lead

EVERETTE:Christy ended the call without waiting for me to finish my statement. I started my phone in disbelief at the blatant disrespect. “That little…”I was accustomed to people following all of my orders without being asked, but Tina was different. She was effortless in giving me a headache.I looked at my phone. Quarter to ten in the evening. She should be at home by now. Safe and sound, but no. She went somewhere where I did not even know. She did not ask for my permission but went to go without thinking about her security. She was my wife. My enemies could use her against me. I gritted my teeth. She was testing my patience because I never taught her any lessons. She believed I was not capable of punishing her when I continued to be good at her. I tried to contact her once again, but her phone was already out of coverage. She turned her phone off.I shook my head in disbelief. This is unforgivable. If she continues this rebellious side, I won't ever tame her. She should subm

CHRISTY:There was a lingering feeling that someone was watching me as I continued dancing to the bet. Men's eyes were on me, but I did not care. Someone tried to dance with me. The guy earlier. That was Rick, right? But I disregarded him and went to dance on my own. They said dancing is one of the best forms of exercise and they were not mistaken at all. Sweat was dripping from my forehead and my blouse was nearly soaked from dancing. It was a good decision to say that I should be bringing extra clothes.Rick was suddenly in front of me with his sickening smile. I tried to tell him a couple of times to back off, saying I had no plans of being in another company, but he would not listen to me and continued to approach me like a dog.If I was not married, we would have long gone to the bathroom and did who knows what.I stopped dancing and glared at him while he continued to dance. He was teasing me and seducing me at the same time. I hated it when I broke someone’s heart that I could

CHRISTY:“You're too full of yourself, you know that? Everette?”His brows knitted. “I'm telling the truth.”“Your truth is not my truth.” Locking gazes with the waiter, I declared, “Please give me two beers. In cans.”I need something to drink. “Two glasses? You're not making yourself drunk, Christina. If you do I—”“You don't stop me from doing what I want Everette. That's what I don't want from you. I never said I wanted to go home.”Why does almost everyone want to control my life? Dang it. I also wanted to take control. “Why are you doing this?”“I want to celebrate our marriage.”His eyes narrowed. “You never were happy about it.”I grinned. “Bingo. You're sharp.”“We can order whatever you want to drink if we are at the house. You don’t have to be here.”I wanted to be here. This place was the only thing that made me forget that I was alone. That I had no company. Entering this crowded place felt like the problems had no power over me. I smiled sadly and drank the contents

CHRISTY:This had something to do with the alcohol, I muttered to myself. The alcohol was making me ultra-sensitive and I did not like it at all especially if Everette was looking at me with pity in her eyes. Why was I crying? Why would I always cry in front of him? The fuck. Angrily, I wiped the tears from my eyes and turned my back to him.“Christina. I can bring back the Rett you enjoyed talking about before,” he muttered softly. “If that's the only way that will make me see you as your friend.”I inhaled deeply. Take reign of your emotions, Christy. You're not a crybaby so stop acting like one. “Why would you do that?” I snapped, still with my back to him.“You Everette, but you like Rett. I can feel it the way you chatted with me. But when it was Everette who sent you a text message, you won't be replying at all. You can tell me how to fix this.”“You cannot fix anything.”“We should fix this. I don't want a wife who would always hate me. Forever. Do you want me to return to Re

CHRISTY:A smile curved on my lips as I dreamed of something beautiful. It was me holding a baby and it looked so much like —I felt the slight shaking of my shoulders. And when I opened my eyes, Everette was silently looking at me. As if he was studying my face and the freckles I had. “Wake up, sleepyhead. It's time to wake you.”His words did not automatically register in my mind except for the smile on his handsome face. My hands were itching to brush my fingers on his cheeks and pinched both of his rounded cheeks. “Rett.”He smiled when we locked each other's gaze and said, “We are here. I hate to wake you up, but it's getting colder outside.”He looked so handsome, was the first thing I thought. Everything about him was almost perfect. Did I marry someone like him?And my dream. What was it about? It seemed like it had something to do with him and our future.“Tina?” he asked when all I did was look at him. “Do you hear me?”Why are you so handsome again?“You think so?” he ask

CHRISTY:My heart continued pounding like crazy as we entered my room. It suddenly felt hot and all evidence that I was sleepy was left in my system. Damn it. Why did I say yes again to this setup? You said you pity him. This man had been nice to you and you were the only bitch who treated him unjustly. “Clean room. I hope this will always be set up every single day. Not your clothes on the floor and your underwear unwashed.”My room was not like this before. This was surprisingly clean. “Won’t you thank me for cleaning your room?” Everette asked.Right. It was him. We were the only people in this big mansion. It would be lovely if little kids were running in the hallway while shouting as they played. But with our situation, it won’t be happening any moment from now.“I did not tell you to clean them for me.” I had plans of cleaning it when I came home, anyway. But then I forgot. “I want to do it for you. Do you know my love language? It's an act of service.”That explained why he

CHRISTY:Everette wanted me to show me to his people. To introduce me to them? The big question of why on my mind might have been plastered on my face because Everette was looking at me with confusion. But at the same time, my heart fluttered. In my past relationships, none of them wanted me to meet their friends or family. But when it comes to Everette, it seemed like it was easy for him.He was not ashamed of me? Mom never introduced me to our employees. It was only my brother saying it was only the successor that should be given the privilege. So, the people in our company only saw my brother. Some of them knew about me because of my big brother too because he had this picture of us in his office. And now, Everette wanted everyone to know about me even if we got divorced after six months.“What are you planning, Everette?”No. He must be planning something. That was the only thing that I could think of when he said those words. Perhaps he had plans of making me a laughingstock i

CHRISTY:A pair of strong hands snaked around my waist while snuggling in my body.I groaned and out of habit, cuddled that thing or someone. Hmmm. He was so warm that having a blanket was no longer necessary. He smelled so much like Everette as it had the same addicting smell as him. Wait. Everette? Why would I be thinking of Everette? My eyes flashed open and looked at the man whom I was cuddling. It was indeed Everette. His arms snaked around my waist while his head was on my breast.Memories of what happened last night flashed in my memories.I panicked internally and slowly untangled myself under his embrace, careful not to awaken him. I could still not face him like this. It was embarrassing!Glancing at the clock on the wall, I found out it was already noon.Dammit.Did I sleep this late? For the first time, I had the most peaceful sleep without waking now and then. CHRISTY:Then Everette's eyes snapped open.I held my breath as I stared at his beautiful eyes."Kitten...""You're awake. Are you done pretending that you were asleep?" I asked softly, already tired of fighting with him. A year of hiding from him only made my love for him grow even stronger. My heart yearned for him, and seeing him after a year, I felt like I had become whole again. He sat while I snatched my hand away and put it on my lap."You still love me," he commented."I did not say anything like that," I denied, averting my gaze. "Yes, you did. I heard you say one, Kitten.""It was only your dream, Everette. You did sleep, right? You were dreaming earlier."Touching my chin, he forced me to look at him. My toes curled. Yes. I still loved this man. A year of not seeing him made me want to jump at him and kiss him like crazy and have lots and lots of sex as if to make up for the lost time. My hands yearned to touch his face and traced the outline of his cheeks. Everette le

CHRISTY: When you least expected someone, you would meet that someone. I thought my husband had already gone home like what Poppy had said. Did Poppy lie to me or was it only because my husband waited for me to step out? "Kitten...It's you." He looked at my face and down to my body and back to my face again. "I was right. You are only at the bakery shop. W-Why did you have to lie?" he asked, his voice trembling. His hair was already long and his mustache and stubbles had grown so much as if he was a completely different person. Despite that, he was still beautiful. The very person whom I managed to love. "I'm not. Y-You're mistaken, Mr." I pretended to fan myself. "You're drunk, Mister." "I only drank two canned beers, Kitten." He sauntered towards me, but I stepped back. "What are you doping? Like I said, I am not who you think I am." His expression turned glassy. "Kitten, please. Tell me what I did to punish you like this. What did I do wrong, Kitten? Why did you leave me

CHRISTY:"He is gone," Poppy announced after talking to my husband. I hid in the kitchen as Poppy struggled to look for some alibis and lied to my husband. I was glad I was able to watch the CCTV camera and found him approaching. If not, he would know I was here, working in Poppy's bakery shop. If Everette will find out that I was only here for the whole year, he might be mad at Poppy. The woman had no fault. In fact, she was kind enough to give me a job where I wanted it. Everette…he looked like a hermit who just came out from his hiding place. He had a rugged expression on his face, but he was still handsome. How long has it been since I last saw him face to face? More than a year already and I just wanted to run into his arms."Thank you, Poppy. You're the best," I said weakly. “Thank you for having my back.”She looked at me with a stern look. “I was not happy with what you did, okay? I was only forced to do it because I loved you. But Christy…how long will you keep on punishin

EVERETTE: It had been an nth time since I stared at my wife’s picture when we had our cruise ship. It was a candid picture of her while we both sat on the sand. A year of missing her. My wife was gone just like what I dreamed. When I entered the house, when I returned back from working on the company, her clothes were still there, but she never returned. At first, I was scared that she was kidnapped again, but there were witnesses of her going somewhere else alone. She was not kidnapped. The truth was, she was only looking for a perfect opportunity where she could go and run away. It had been what? One fucking years of her absence. No calls. No text. Not even anything. Until now, I blame myself for what happened. Maybe…if I did not work late, I would still be able to stop her from disappearing. “Why don’t you give up, Everette?” Vincent said. “If you did not find her, it only meant that she did not want to be found.” We were in the house. I asked him to come and he did witho

CHRISTY: I want the world to swallow me now. What a very perfect timing. Beatrice being able to witness me slapping her husband. I would understand if she would hate me after this. She loved her husband so much that salpping him will be the reason why he would throw a fit. I did not know how to console Beatrice or how would I be able to face her and explain what she just heard and what she had witnessed. Did I regret going to their cabin? I did not. All I was thinking was this woman who looked like she could not even hurt a fly. "Beatrice..." I mumbled. Approach her. She deserved to know what her husband said. Are you sure? The other part of my mind said. If the truth would hurt her so much, was it worth it? Left with no choice, I sauntered towards her. "How long had you been listening?" I asked directly, no loger beating around the bush. If she hated me after this, all I had to do was accept everything adn move on. There was so much bigger things that needed my attention.

CHRISTY:I did it! I was able to slap Drake! I was able to avenge Beatrice! It was not so me to hurt anyone, but after slapping Drake, I felt this weird sense of fulfillment coming from the inside of my chest. Instead of getting guilty, all I felt was the sense of fulfillment of avenging Beatrice. My palms were itching to slap him again, but once was enough. As long as I was able to send him the message that not everyone liked him was already enough.Drake glared at me, watching the imprints of my hands on his palm. It hurt even for a moment and he would no longer be able to forget me. Staring down at me, he asked, "What the fuck was that for? As far as my memories are concerned, you and I had no proper conversation. What did I do to earn a slap from you? Be thankful that you're a woman or else," he trailed off.“So what if I am a woman?” I asked. I scoffed. "You have to ask me those questions? Are you that dense?" I asked. He stared at me for a long time, his face bright red wi

CHRISTY:Beatrice looked at me as if I had grown horns. I was a bitch for suggesting it to her, but what could I do? I was not the type who would just stare at a woman who was hurting because of a man.Yeah. I know. It was the suggestion that she was totally unexpected. Or maybe she already expected it, but she could not do anything about it. Perhaps I was not the only one who had told her to divorce her husband. "Y-You want me to divorce my husband?" she asked in disbelief, using the same words I had suggested. "Do you even hear yourself?" she asked. “Divorce? How could you say that!”"I heard myself loud and clear," I said nonchalantly. “It’s time to let go of that jerk.”Tears swelled in her eyes.Beatrice always had a waterworks, and I did not like any of that. A woman’s tears were like a stab wound on me. I kneeled in front of her and said, "It's time to let go of the man who did not even love you. Do you understand? CHRISTY:"I knew women like you. You will grab every possible opportunity," she spat. “Seeing you annoys me even more. You reminded me of your Mom.”“Mom and I are two different beings, Mom,” I said politely, even if my heart was already bleeding too much. And I could not blame Clara. Mom showed her worse side. “As long as my husband won’t believe that I will cheat on him, I am fine with whatever you say, Mom.”Clara’s hand shook in anger. She was dying to hurt me. To slap me once again. “Christy is right, Mom. The only thing that you can do is accept this marriage.” Everette kissed me on my hair. Clar did not like it a bit. “Mom, let us have peace. Christy admitted it was a mistake that she left me in the altar. But don’t you think it’s already too long since that happened? Let’s move on, Mom. Please?” Everette was about to touch his Mom’s hand, but Clara slapped his hand away and looked at me with disgust.“You’re a witch. You bewitched my son!” She was about to slap me, but Everet

I shouted, but no words would come out.Everette! Please help me!What the heck was happening?"Stop squirming or I will hurt you for real," he threatened. “Do you think I will hesitate hurting a woman?”I stopped, sensing this bastard won’t hesitate to hurt me at all. My body went cold. It was the man whom Everette had fought with. Vincent was right. Sooner or later, he would come to get me. I should have listened to Vincent when he said I should be careful. Everette’s enemies would resurface. Did I listen? I did not. As he dragged me deeper into the darkness, I was losing even more hope that someone would be able to help me.It was safe to let him think that he was able to get my trust. Hot tears welled in my eyes as I thought of Everette. Would I die not being able to see my husband? If I knew
