CRYSTAL
Seeing them both with tears warms my heart. I knew that they had to have been having a very deep heart to heart and I am proud of Brooks for trying to be there for Jonah. I am proud of Brooks for all the effort he has been putting in since I gave him a second chance and I cannot wait until I say I do and get to spend the rest of my life with him. I put the steaks in the fridge so they could marinate before being out on the grill. I cleaned up my mess on the counter and then went and sat on the couch next to Brooks while he and Jonah played a football game. When they finished their game, I went back into the kitchen and began prepping the sides for dinner. I cleaned the potatoes, peeled them, and cut them up. I then put them in the pot to boil. I got the ears of corn out and shucked them. After cleaning the corn, I put them in foil to place on the grill. I prepared the glaze for the carrots and put them in a dish to go in the oven. After I cleaned up my mess, I opened the backdoor and as soon as I went to step outside I felt sick. I ran into the bathroom and emptied my stomach. Brooks came to the door and asked if I was ok and I told him I was fine and that I just got sick to my stomach. I wiped my face, brushed my teeth, and went back out into the kitchen. I began washing the few dishes that were in the sink and then went and sat on the couch. Brooks and Jonah went out back to get the grill fired up. I sat on the couch and watched them from the living room and smiled. Brooks looks genuinely happy to be out there showing Jonah how to prep the grill. I got up and put the carrots in the oven and turned the stove eye on for the potatoes to boil. I went and stood at the window and just watched my soon-to-be husband and future brother-in-law. After a few minutes, Brooks came in with Jonah right behind him and I told Brooks that I had the potatoes and carrots cooking. He walked over to me and kissed me. Jonah started gagging and Brooks and I both laughed. After Brooks put the steaks on the grill, I finished up the sides and set them aside until he brought the steaks in. I set the table and made us all a glass of sweet tea. Jonah came into the kitchen and asked if I was ok. I told him I was fine but he gave me a look that said he didn't believe me. "Crystal, I have been here since last night and we have barely spoken today. What is going on with you?" He asked. "I promise you I am fine, Jonah. Just a little tired today." I said as I put the napkins on the table. "Crystal, you won't even look at me right now. Look me in the eyes and tell me nothing is wrong." Before I even had a chance to open my mouth I took off to the bathroom and began throwing up. Jonah stood at the bedroom door until I came out of the bathroom. "Now, don't try to tell me you are fine, Crystal. What is going on with you?" He said as I headed back into the kitchen. "Jonah, I told you I am fine. Just dealing with some stress." "I swear Brooks better not be the cause of it. I will never speak to him again if he has done something to hurt you again." He said and he balled his fist up. "No Jonah, Brooks didn't do anything to hurt me. Brooks has been doing everything he can to show me he does love me and I couldn't be happier with how he has been." I said. Brooks came in with the steaks and I went and got the sides and sat them on the table. I sat down and mouthed to Jonah to drop it and he just stared at me. Brooks asked if I was ok and I nodded. He asked if I had gotten sick again because I looked a little pale. I told him I had but I was fine. While we were in the middle of eating, Jonah looked up at me and then looked at Brooks and back at me. "Oh, my god." Jonah yelled. "What in the hell are you yelling Oh my god for, Jonah?" Brooks asked. "Your, your, Oh my god Brooks you didn't. Tell me you didn't." Jonah said as he looked between Brooks and I. "What are you talking about, Jonah?" Brooks asked. "YOU GOT HER PREGNANT!" Jonah yelled as he stood up. I just put my head down. Brooks didn't say anything. "Brooks, tell me the truth." Jonah said as he stood there. "Yes, Jonah. Crystal and I are having a baby. We didn't plan it but we have both come to terms with it and are excited." Brooks said as he held my hand. "I wanted to wait to tell everyone together, Jonah. I am sorry I didn't tell you earlier. I haven't been to the doctor yet and we were going to wait until we knew how far along I was and made sure the baby was healthy before asking our families to come over so we could tell y'all." I said with tears streaming down my face. Jonah came over to me and wrapped his arms around me and hugged me tightly. "I am not mad at you, Crystal. I am happy for you and my brother. As long as you are both happy that's all that matters to me." Jonah said. Jonah went and hugged Brooks and we finished our dinner. We took Jonah home and asked him not to tell Ashley or Ray. When we were heading back to the house, Brooks passed our road. "Where are we going, baby?" I asked as I looked over at him. "I don't know yet my love but I don't want to go home right now." He said as he kept his eyes on the road. I didn't say anything else I just grabbed Brooks's hand and held it. We drove for a while and I had no clue where we were when we stopped but Brooks got out of the car and came around to my door and opened it. I got out and he led me through some trees and when we stopped, the sight in front of me was absolutely beautiful. We were standing in front of a lake that the sun was setting over and it reflected beautifully. Brooks sat down on the ground and pulled me into his lap and we just sat there watching the sunset.BROOKS I don't know why I didn't want to go home after taking Jonah off but I just felt like going somewhere else. I found this place right after I got home from the military and I haven't been back since I found it. I think we both just need some peace and beautiful scenery. I knew Crystal needed some peace to keep her stress level down because of the baby. We just sat there staring out into the water without speaking and I could feel her body relax in my arms. I rested my head on her back and just took in the smell of her body wash. It was calming to me and I kissed her on the back. She turned around and asked if I was ok. "My love, I am perfect. I just want you to be stress-free and have a healthy pregnancy and the three of us have a happy life." I said as I smiled up at her. "We will live a happy life baby. I am trying to stay stress-free and I appreciate everything you have done to try and keep me stress-free and show me how loved I am by you. You are everything to me and
CRYSTALIt's been 2 weeks since Brooks and I made love by the lake. Since then I have felt a closer connection to him than I had before. I was able to find a doctor who took my insurance and I made an appointment. We will get to see how baby sea monkey is doing next week. Brooks and I decided last night that after the doctor's appointment, we are going to invite both sets of parents and Jonah over and do a pregnancy announcement dinner. Brooks has been working his butt off at the shop. He is wanting to go ahead and start putting money back. He added some things to the store that he believes will do well in sales. I talked to the daycare and I begin work in 2 months. I went ahead and told them about being pregnant so there wouldn't be any issues later on with me calling out for doctor's appointments or if I am feeling bad and can't go in that day. I am excited and nervous to start working but the daycare is going to be good practice for me since I will be around small babies and small
BROOKS When Crystal yelled out in pain it scared me. I was praying she wasn't losing our baby. I am thankful she asked me to take her to the ER when she did and I am thankful it was only slight dehydration. I called my buddy Seth and told him I was going to need 2 days off so I could take care of Crystal because she is sick. He said he would hold down the fort and I told him thank you. I made sure Crystal was comfortable and had what she needed to stay hydrated. The next day, Crystal let me sleep in for a bit since I was up half the night watching her. She fell asleep on the couch and I went into the kitchen and started doing the dishes. I made her some soup when she got up and I sat with her on the couch and we talked for a little while. I got a call from Seth saying one of our customers came in and ordered a good amount of stuff and we would be getting a nice profit from it. After I got off the phone with him, I ordered Crystal and I dinner and we sat and watched TV while we ate. A
CRYSTAL Today is the day we go to the doctor and I am freaking out. I am scared they are going to say something is wrong with me or something is wrong with our baby. Brooks has been trying to keep me calm for the past 2 days but it isn't working. I won't be able to calm down until after this appointment. Brooks and I have spent the past 3 days trying to come up with a way to tell everyone about the baby but we haven't been able to decide on what to do. We are trying to decide between just coming out and telling everyone or doing the dinner with baby portions and see if they catch on to the theme. I did do something special for everyone and had shirts made saying grandma, grandpa, and uncle. I did include Viola and Ray and had them shirts made as well. I am going to ask if the ultrasound tech can print extra copies for Ashley and Ray and for my dad and Viola. I just finished getting dressed and we are about to leave the house. I grabbed my phone off the coffee table and ended up drop
BROOKS Last night after Crystal told me she would marry me whenever I planned the wedding, I called Ray and asked for his and moms help. I told him what I was wanting to do and he said he would get with Marvin and Viola and talk to them about it. I wanted to surprise Crystal with a simple but nice wedding soon. I wanted us to get married before our baby comes. I wanted her to be able to officially put my last name on all her paperwork and even the birth certificate for our child. I don't care if anyone thinks this is too soon or they think I am only doing it because we have a baby on the way. The truth is I am doing this for her and I. I love her with every inch of my heart and soul and I want to spend the rest of our lives showing her how much she means to me. Crystal Lynn Martini is my everything! She is my whole world, well her and our unborn baby. She is my better place and I want to be hers. We are going to be annoucing the pregnancy tonight at dinner. I am so excited to be able
CRYSTAL Today we go for another ultrasound. Hopefully we get to find out our little sea monkey's gender. At our last appointment, the baby was being stubborn and wouldn't open his or her legs for the ultrasound tech. She said it was also still a little early to tell but she wanted to try. I am almost ready to go. All I have left to do is pull my hair up and slide my shoes on. Brooks is getting dressed now. Since the dinner we had with our parents and Jonah, Viola and Ashely have been going baby crazy and buyin all kinds of things. At least they are picking gender netural colors when they buy stuff. I'd hate it if they had to return things. Once Brooks was fully dressed, He helped me put my shoes on and I pulled my hair up into a ponytail. He helped me get into the explorer and we headed to the OBGYN's office. I have my ultrasound first then have to do a gloucose test after. They said it was going to take about an hour for the test. Hopefully it isn't high. I have been trying to eat n
BROOKSCrystal is going to hang out with Kenzlee today so I asked Jonah to come help me at the shop and then to come to the house and hang out with me. His girlfriend is out of town this week with her parents for fall break and he was annoying mom. When she dropped him off at the shop, I looked out the window to see him helping Ryder get her diaper bag that had fallen on the ground. I rolled my eyes at the fact she was here again but I decided to hold my tongue because of her kids. Jonah held the door for her and then walked in after her. I could see my little brother checking her ass out and I cleared my throat to get his attention. Ryder's little boy Colton came running up to me with a huge smile on his face. "Mr. Brooks, I did it!" "What did you do buddy?" "I beat my friend Jaxson in a dual. I played like you showed me to play and I won." "That's awesome, Colton! I'm proud of you buddy!" "Thank you for teaching me how to dual. Mommy said since I have been good for her and help
CRYSTAL After I got back from shopping with Kenz, I hid the bags in mine and Brooks's closet. I couldn't leave them out for Jonah to see the stuff I got for the gender reveal. Kenz wasn't even allowed to see what all I bought. While the two of us were out and about, I asked how things were going between her and Brent since they moved in together and she told me that it was not going as well as she hoped it would. She explained that he has been going out with his friends and not coming home until 1 in the morning and it's causing them to fight. I had to remind her that he is still young and wants to have his freedom. She asked me how things were with living with Brooks and I honestly felt bad for my answer. I told her living with him has been amazing. He helps me with everything I do on a day-to-day basis to make things less stressful for me. She told me she was happy for me and wished Brent would help her out more around the house but she knew he wouldn't. After Jonah and Brooks fin
BROOKS It's been 4 months since Marvin entered this world and things are going more smoothly for Crystal and I, than when we first brought him home. He is such a good baby and barely cries now. He loves going to visit with both sets of grandparents and he absolutely loves his uncle Jonah. Jonah is a great uncle. He tries to kick me and Crystal out of the house every Friday so he can babysit. Mine and Jonah's relationship has gotten so much better over the past couple of months and he has been busting his butt at the shop. I started paying him for his hard work even though he refused to let me pay him in the beginning. I've been talking to Crystal about possibly making his assistant manager even though he is only 15. I know he is mature and will take his job seriously. Crystal thinks it may be a little too much on him though with school, being a teenager, and wanting to spend what little free time he has with Marvin. I planned on talking to my mom and Ray about it later on when I
Crystal Our first night home with Marvin has been an experience for sure. He has barely slept and so have we. Brooks has been amazing with getting up and helping me with him. He had me pump so I could get sleep in between Marvin waking up. Marvin finally went to sleep around 5 A.M and Brooks crawled into the bed. He kissed me and laid his head on the pillow. It wasn't long before he was out like a light. I wanted Brooks to get some sleep so I gently slid out of the bed and went into the living room with the baby monitor. I crawled up on the couch and pulled the blanket we keep on the back of the couch over me and turned the TV on. I flipped through the channels but couldn't find anything to watch. I decided to just binge-watch Teen Wolf. I lay there with the baby monitor by my head and eventually dozed off. I woke up to Marvin fussing and I got up to check on him. He needed to be fed and I changed his diaper. I sat in the rocker and rocked him back to sleep. After he was out like a
BROOKS As I lay back on the pull-out couch in the hospital room, I looked around at my world. I have the love of my life and wife. I have a son. I have my family and now Crystal's. I have my store which is still doing good. I have the house. I have everything I truly wanted in life. I am complete. No more missing pieces. Marvin began to cry. I got up and picked him up out of his bassinet. I walked around the room with him and calmed him down. Today is the day we get to take Marvin home and start our journey as parents without having people in and out of the room to help us. I am scared sh*tless but excited at the same time. I know Crystal and I can do this ourselves. My mom offered to come stay a few nights until we get settled but I don't think we are going to need her to. The nurse came in to check on Crystal and to let her know she will have to use the bathroom before they will discharge her. The nurse gave her something to help her go, and then she checked on Marvin. Once the nu
CRYSTAL After our family left, I was able to get about 2 hours of sleep before the nurse brought Marvin back into the room for a feeding. I slowly sat up and the nurse helped me undo my gown. She placed Marvin on my chest and explained how to get him to latch onto my breast. It took a few times but he got the hang of it and I was able to feed him. Brooks slept through the feeding and the diaper change but woke up a few minutes after the nurse left the room. He sat up and asked if I was ok. I told him I was fine and told him about how Marvin's first feeding went. He said he felt bad for sleeping through it and I told him to hush. Marvin was fast asleep in his little bassinet and Brooks asked if he could lay with me for a little while. I slid over and patted the bed. He crawled up next to me and went to put his arm over my stomach but stopped. I asked why he did that and he said he didn't want to hurt me. I grabbed his arm and placed it over my stomach and told him he wasn't going to
BROOKS The doctor hands me a pair of medical scissors and shows me where to cut. My hands are shaking and I am terrified. I cut the cord and as soon as I did, I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. His cries fill the room mixed with the cries from his mother as he is placed on her chest. My whole world is right before my eyes laying on that hospital bed. A world I didn't think I'd ever have. My wife and my son. As soon as the nurses stepped away from Crystal I walked over to the edge of the bed and leaned down. I told her I was so proud of her and I thanked her for giving me this piece of the puzzle to complete my life. I broke down and cried as I stood there staring down at her with our son in her arms. My phone went off and I checked it to see my mom was texting me to see what was going on. I texted her and told her I would be out in the waiting room soon to update them. I asked Crystal if I could get a picture of her and Marvin to show everyone in the waiting room and sh
CRYSTAL I have been here for an hour now and the nurse who just came in to check me said I was only dilated to 4cm. The doctor asked if I wanted something for the pain but I told her no. I decided after our accident that I didn't want anything for the pain. I barely took my medicine when I had the broken wrist and leg and I managed through the pain then so I didn't feel like I would need it for giving birth. After another hour of laying there, the doctor came in and checked me. She told me that I had dilated to 6cm and things would probably progress pretty quickly now. I pray they do because these contractions hurt like hell! I was able to find a comfortable position to lay in for a while before the pain hit again. I looked up at the clock and saw that I had been here for almost 3 hours and still no baby boy. Another nurse came in and said she was going to check my progression and the look on her face as she took her glove off told me I must not have dilated much. She told us that
BROOKS After I got off the phone with Seth, I checked on Crystal. I told her I was going to make us salads for dinner. I headed into the kitchen and began to make them. I put 2 different kinds of dressing on the tray because I wasn't sure which one Crystal would want to use tonight. I grabbed the tray and headed back into the bedroom. I placed the tray on the bed and sat down. We began eating while watching TV. I noticed Crystal was taking her time eating and I asked if she was ok. "Oh, yeah I'm fine baby." "Crystal, I can tell something is either bothering you or you are hurting and not wanting to tell me." "I'm fine, Brooks. I'm trying to deal with the contractions, that's all." "If you are contracting more, you need to let me know." "I promise I'm fine, Brooks." "Ok, but promise me if it gets any worse you will let me know." "I promise, Brooks." After we finished eating I cleaned the dishes and called my mom to see if Jonah could cover for me at work tomorrow.
CRYSTAL The pains are still pretty intense but they are still 4 minutes apart. I don't want to go to the hospital until they are 3 minutes apart like the doctor said. It's 7:30 a.m. and I've been up since 4:45 a.m. I'm starting to get sleepy but I've been trying to stay awake with Brooks. "Hey beautiful, why don't you try to get a nap? I can see your eyes are getting heavy." "I'm okay, Brooks." "Crystal, please try and get a nap in. I want you to get as much rest as you can." "Ok, Brooks. I will try to take a nap." I laid back and closed my eyes. When I woke up, Brooks was sitting next to me. "How was your nap?" "It wasn't long but it was good." "You've been asleep for the past 3 hours, beautiful." "It was not 3 hours." "It's 10:45 beautiful. Are the pains still bad?" "Honestly, no. I don't think I've felt any pain since I fell asleep." "I've been right here since you fell asleep and I haven't heard a peep out of you nor have I seen you hold your stomach." "Why would the
BROOKS It's been 3 weeks since Crystal and I got married and her doctor has given her the okay to get up and move around more with help. We decided not to have a honeymoon until after Marvin is born and is old enough for us to leave him with one of the sets of grandparents. Crystal has been having some pains in her stomach so we have an appointment in an hour with her OBGYN. Once Crystal was ready to go we headed to the doctor's office. There was a little wait but it wasn't too bad. As soon as Crystal was called back the nurse asked me to help her change into a gown so she could be examined. When the doctor came in she started the exam but it didn't take long for her to figure out what was going on. She told Crystal and I that the pains she felt were contractions. She said she was going into early labor and she was 2cm dilated but with how far along Crystal is, that Marvin wouldn't be in any danger of being delivered this early. I asked her what we needed to do and she told me that
