Not interested

Xavier Woods is busy with work to really bother about trivial matters. But that doesn't stop his fiancee from coming to his room to interrupt his work.

"Xavier?" Nancy's soft voice penetrated through his room door. But Xavier didn't reply. He knows that it wouldn't stop her from entering his room.

Nancy entered Xavier's room with a soft smile. She is used to his coldness by now, so it doesn't bother her much.

"Hey, I thought of arranging a party tonight to kick off our engagement party in style. What do you think?" Nancy asked him. She is still standing near the threshold of his room, and did not dare to enter inside the room. She knows how far she can push him. Because out of all the people, she knows him best.

Xavier paused what he was doing. But he didn't bother to look at her.

"You and I we both know that it's not necessary. Our marriage is just a matter of convenience for both of us. So I'd rather not involve myself with all of this. If you want, you can arrange. But don't expect me to attend" he replied in a tone which didn't leave a room for negotiation.

Nancy sighed but left quickly. She knows that he hates emotional entanglements the most. He is very practical. Everything he does is a means for an end, including this marriage.

After Nancy left, Xavier heard Sierra's name being called out by Douglas. It spiked his interest. He is not the type who would waste his time on people and their affairs. But for whatever cursed reason, he couldn't help himself from abandoning his work and walking towards his private deck. When he noticed that Nancy's brother was trying to teach Sierra fishing, his blood started to boil with anger.

Douglas is standing behind Sierra while teaching her how to hold a fishing rod properly.

She seems to be really interested in learning fishing rather than the man teaching her. But Xavier knows that people can be deceiving.

"Douglas" he spoke before he could stop himself. He slept with so many women before. But no one affected him the way his niece's best friend is affecting him. She is much younger than him, and he is sure as hell that she cannot be as innocent as she seems to be. But still, he couldn't ignore her.

Both Sierra and Douglas lifted their heads at once and looked at the man standing on the fourth floor private deck. He is standing there like a king looking down on his subjects. Xavier is looking at the place where Douglas was touching Sierra. Douglas immediately jumped away from Sierra, as if an invisible command has been passed out.

"Good morning Mr. Woods" Douglas greeted with respect.

Sierra caught the tremor of fear in his tone. The moment she looked at the man, she quickly turned her gaze away from him. She can feel his gaze burning holes on her body, but she didn't dare to move or even make a sound. She is scared of him, and mostly terrified about what happened the other night between them.

"Your sister seems to be hosting a party this evening. Why don't you go and do something useful instead of wasting your time with people like that?" Xavier spoke coldly, propelling Douglas immediately into action. He didn't even hesitate. He left immediately, leaving Sierra alone.

His comment made Sierra uncomfortable. She wanted to leave too. But she couldn't move a muscle, as if her body is waiting for his command.

After Douglas left, Xavier looked at Sierra with his penetrating gaze. Mostly his gaze is centered near her shoulder where Douglas touched her just now.

"You, come up" he issued a command, which made her freeze. He turned away and disappeared inside.

Sierra became tense and uncomfortable. She doesn't want to go. But she couldn't ignore him either.

'Now what does he want from me?' she thought as a shudder ran down her spine, by just imagining his cold stare.

'What if he decided to tell Claire that I seduced him last night? Even though it was a mistake, It's me who entered his room and not the other way around. What if Claire misunderstand me? She is the only person left who genuinely cares about me any more. Can I afford to lose her too?' she thought, feeling depressed just by the thought of it. Losing her mother is a big blow as it is right after she lost her father and brother.

So she decided to go and speak with him.

Xavier watched while Sierra made her way inside his room, as if a prey walking inside a predator's den. Just like Nancy, she stood just near the threshold and didn't dare to close the door either.

"Close the door and come here" Xavier instructed her in a neutral tone. He noticed how she became tensed, but still did as she was told.

"Mr. Woods, what happened last night was a mistake on my part. I accidentally entered the wrong floor instead of the third floor. Please let's forget what happened" she quickly explained with a small voice.

She is standing in the middle of his room, while he is sitting on a single chair to the far end. His room is bigger than every other room in the yacht.

Xavier looked at her coldly.

"You are not worth remembering. But if I see you playing the same tricks on other men on board, I will definitely have to remember you and I can promise that it's not what you want. So stay away from Douglas and anyone else for that matter" his tone is cold and his words stung.

He is insulting her in the worst way possible. Sierra was innocent, but was not meek like she is now before her mother's death. She has pride and never backs down if someone tramples all over her dignity. But after her mother passed away, she started to feel like nothing matters anymore, and she pushed herself into a shell where she prefers to keep quiet rathan talk, and forget about arguments and disagreement. But Xavier's words made her past self wake up from its deep slumber. But she is scared of Xavier to the point that she couldn't meet his gaze while speaking. But she did defend herself.

"With all due respect Mr. Woods, I am not a intrested in you or anyone on your Yacht either. Thank you for having me here. Excuse me" her tone is soft, but firm. And she didn't dare look at him while she made her point. Her heart was pounding to the point that she could hear it drumming in her ears.

After she made her point, she didn't dare to stay there any longer. Quickly she turned away and left, while Xavier kept looking at her with a strange glint in his gaze.
