Chapter 44

Kaylee pov

For a second, I get scared and feel all my senses on high alert, afraid of who it is, until I see a car with some guards looking right at me from where I stand. They are calm and just look at me.

"Didn't the guard tell you to wait for any of them to pick you up?" I hear her say. The air gets pushed out of my lungs when I gasp loudly and feel my whole body start to tremble, both out of relief and happiness.

Swirling around, I meet her gaze and can't help but feel my eyes well up. I feel a connection with her that I've never felt with anyone else except Liana. I can only describe it as if she were my family, it might have to do with her saving me more than once.

Taking a quick step forward, I throw myself at her and wrap my arms tight around her shoulders when I can't help but break down in a sob.

"I thought he got you and might have killed you," I say between sobs to Heidi's shoulder when she wraps her arms around me hard.
