SLOANE POV. I ended up following them to the local guest house in town. It was one of the popular places to stay over and I see they made a few improvements on the old place. I parked around the corner that enabled me to see the entrance and the side of the building. Sitting in the car for a few minutes, I watched if they were going to come out again but after fifteen minutes, I knew they weren’t. I was about to get out of the car when a movement caught my eye on one of the balconies. My heart leaped as I quickly sat back in my car. There she was. Amara was talking to that woman. She looked so familiar and it was about a minute longer that I realised who she was. “Lena?” I uttered aloud in disbelief. When did she get back into town? I wondered and I felt anger stir in my chest. I remember the last time I saw her. She caught me sneaking outside of Amara’s house one night. She punched me that my ears sang before she ran me off with a warning that she would kick my teeth in next time if
AMARA POV. “Lilly, this is my big brother, Alex.” I said and the little girls face lit up. “Hi!” She said excitedly and before Lena could stop her, Lilly had hopped on top of her stool and jumped into Alex’s arms. Shock registered on his face for a moment before he laughed at the girl. “Hello Lilly, it is nice to meet you.” My brother said with a wide smile and he looked to Lena. “I didn’t know you had a little sister; she looks just like you.” Alex commented, smiling but he quickly noticed the silence from everyone until I spoke. “Alex. Lilly isn’t Lena’s little sister; she is her daughter.” I corrected him. Alex’s head snapped to mine before he looked at Lena and then to the little girl again. Lilly still had her wide smile on her face and it was like it was contagious because Alex smiled wide at the girl again. “You really cute.” Lilly spoke shyly and giggled to which Alex laughed too. “Why thank you, so are you.” Alex said back and Lilly blushed in the cutest way possible. I co
AMARA POV.My heart cried out in protest as I walked slowly down the white polished tiled floors, in a white gown that would have been any woman’s dream dress that hugged all the right places. Everyone's eyes were on me, and it made me very uncomfortable. Only my brother and a few friends came to see me through this day, even though I knew they didn’t approve. It made me feel a little bit better knowing that neither did I… especially as all of the other guests were eyeing me up and down as though I was worthy of whatever this was. I was never one for being the centre of attention or had I ever been one to worry about my looks, but Clarissa Milton had brought in her personal stylist to do my hair and make-up and she had insisted on having my dress custom made, no matter how much I protested against it. At least I managed to put my foot down when it came to my long black hair. I wanted a style that flowed easily around me and not pulled up into some kind of tight fashion bun that would
AMARA POV. I snapped back into the present right when the official was starting to address me. Gratefully, there weren't any vows to be exchanged to which I was thankful because that was not going to happen in this ceremony or on any other gatherings in the future. All that this was, was a simple ‘I DO’, sign papers and hopefully leave as soon as possible, but I also knew it wasn’t going to be that easy since they invited most of their family and acquaintances to be here and I was already told that it was an excellent opportunity to meet them all. "Do you, Amara Wood, take this man, Ace Milton to be your husband? To respect and be faithful until the day you die?" The room hall was so silent you would have been able to hear a pin drop from the very back and I cursed internally to why everyone was so damned quiet? I stared into Ace’s cold light blue eyes. I hadn't even noticed that we were facing each other, until I felt the strangest sensation against my skin as I also realised that
AMARA POV. I had to remind herself why I was doing all of this. I had to fight down the feelings that flowed through me when his warm lips touched the side of my temple, or the way his fingers held my hips. I was doing all of this for my brother, Alex, and Jared. Because Alex had done so much to look after me after our parents passed away. He deserved to have success in life. Milton House really was a beautiful place. On the outside it reminded Amara of a royal manor that was hidden away in secret, the trees surrounding it shielding it from the outside world with the many little houses that sat protected withing its protected circle. Finally, the party was over, and I was utterly exhausted. Emotionally and physically. My face hurt after all the forced smiles she had to put on. As soon as Ace and I re-entered the huge house of his, I kicked off my shoes and scooped them up with my one hand before turning to Ace. “Could you please show me to my room? I need to get this dress off," I
AMARA POV. I had to admit that I slept well in my new bed. I have been tossing and turning until the early hours of the morning before I fell into an exhausted dreamless sleep and now, I was awake and hungry. My hunger turned into twisted knots when I remembered why I was sleeping in a new bed and my hunger went away. I got up and made my way to the attached bathroom. Even though I couldn’t fall asleep last night, I was too tired to shower, and I badly needed a hot shower before facing the world. Before facing Ace, who was now my husband. I walked out with a bathrobe wrapped around my body and I sighed in relief as I felt slightly better after the nice hot shower. I made my way over towards the other side of the bed where a kind girl from last night brought in one of my bags with clothes in. I once again thought how strange these people were. They were polite and respectful, but I still wondered why some of them referred to me as Luna? The girl that brought me my bag also called me
AMARA POV. When I came into the dining room, Mr and Mrs Milton were already sitting at the breakfast table. It was quite a long table that had space for about thirty more people, and I thought it weird that there were no one else that was seated. I was under the impression that others also lived inside the manor. “Ah, Amara. There you are.” Clarissa said and motioned for me to take a seat. I looked over the assorted items that were being service and I thought it to be a bit much. There was a little of something of everything. “Hope you slept well?” Clarissa asked and I nodded as I reached for a jug of juice and started to fill the glass in front of me. “Yes, thank you. The room is very beautiful.” I said and Clarissa looked satisfied with my answer, and she too poured herself some juice before looking towards the door that I just came through. "What is taking Ace so long?" Clarissa asked as she looked to her watch before ticking her fingers on the table. "Maybe he forgot about the
AMARA POV. "All these clothes are so expensive," I grumbled as I was forced to model another outfit in front of my new mother-in-law. She looked at the pretty summers dress with a thoughtful eye before she nodded her head. I sighed tiredly. Clarissa has taken me to one of the most expensive boutiques in the city. I couldn’t understand why we couldn’t just go into town to get a few simple outfits, but she insisted on the hour drive to the city. And the other thing that annoyed me was why we had to have a driver? One I could have understood but two? Really? We could have driven it by ourselves and on top of that, they seem to follow us everywhere we went. I briefly wondered if Ace had put them up to it in order to make sure that I didn’t change my mind and run off to somewhere. "I really like this one dear. The colour complements your skin, and the cut enhances your curves," Clarissa said in approval. The dress was a red colour. Two thin straps rested off the shoulder and the skirt fo

AMARA POV. We drove through town and soon we came to a guest house. I knew this place. It was one of the oldest buildings in town and a favourite place to overnight in from travellers. “I wanted to ask you this before, but…” I started to speak and Lena smiled sadly and knowingly at me as she locked the car and we walked to the entrance. “Why I don’t stay at the pack house?” She asked and I nodded. “From what I have seen, there is more than enough room.” I said and she nodded. “Yeah, but my mother isn’t welcomed there anymore.” She said and my mouth dropped open. “Wait! Your mom is here?” I asked shocked and she nodded. “Yeah, we left town together back then.” She spoke. “I take it is because of Ace’s mom that she isn’t welcome there?” I asked and I felt awkward and guilty to ask this. To my shock, Lena shook her head. “No, she can go to the pack but the pack members are snappy bastards.” She said and I immediately thought to how Shiela was towards me this morning. “You see, my mom
AMARA POV. “Why would I be mad?” I asked in confusion because I couldn’t think of a reason why I would be mad at her for wanting to be happy. “It’s your brother, Alex.” She said and I felt lost for words. “The Moon Goddess gave me a second chance mate and it is your brother.” She said and it took a moment for what she said to sink in. “My brother is your mate?” I finally spoke after a few seconds. Lena was watching me nervously and I wondered why. This was great news! “Lena, that is great!” I spoke and the look of relief on her face was huge and she burst out crying. I sat there, taken aback. Wasn’t this supposed to be good for her? “What’s wrong? Lena, why are you crying?” I asked as I scooted closer to her and wrapped my arms around her shoulders. “Because Alex is with Emily!” Lena said in a heart broken voice and that was when I realised that she didn’t know and I burst out laughing. Lena looked at me a little offended and started to pull away but I just hugged her again. “No, he
AMARA POV.I watched Ace from across the breakfast table. My cheeks felt like it got sunburned as I kept thinking back to last night. It was the most amazing thing that a man has ever done to me. Well… he was the only man that had even gotten past my panties. Not even Jared managed to get so far except for some heavy kissing and grinding, but I always stopped before it went too far.“Are you okay my dear? You look a little feverish this morning.” I snapped back to present and swallowed down the dryness in my throat and my cheeks burned even more when I saw Clarissa looking at me as she sat next to her son at the breakfast table. She had her teacup raised to her lips but I could see a smirk hiding behind it as her eyes sparkled knowingly at me. “Y-yes, I’m fine.” I said and Ace sneaked a look at me knowingly and winked. I quickly busied myself with my plate. I wasn’t feeling all that hungry… at least not for food. Ever since I woke up this morning, all I wanted was to feel his mouth on
AMARA POV. The swoosh of the blades of the helicopter nearly lulled me to sleep as I sat next to Ace. The evening was actually enjoyable and a smile formed on my lips as I thought back to everyone that I met. I half expected them to treat me like an outcast, but I was warmly welcomed. I wondered if this was due to me being at Ace’s side but there were times that Ace had to leave me alone to speak to other alphas and the people that he left me with were kind. To my amazement, there were others like me too. Human. They were the mates of others that were there, I was the only human that was ‘mated’ with an alpha at that event. It still felt strange to use the words like mating and marking and bonds and so forth but I was getting used to it. The helicopter landed with a soft thud, that stirred me back from nearly falling asleep. I caught Ace smiling at me as I righted myself as I found that I was dozing of on his shoulder and to my honour he didn’t say anything about it. Ace helped me o
SLOANE POV. I watched as Jared stormed away from the Amara and Ace. I had to admit that it felt satisfying to see Jared break Amara’s heart by admitting that he cheated on her… that meant that he only had to get rid of Ace… then there would be nothing standing in his way to get Amara. I watched her walk away with Ace with the Milton seniors behind them and I follow. To my disappointment, I see them get into a helicopter and disappear out of sight. I stood there, trying to think of my next move all the while my father’s voice keeps echoing inside of my head. Warning me to stay away… I shake my head to clear it of his voice. I knew I shouldn’t do this, but I couldn’t help myself. After seeing Amara again, I realized that my feelings for her have never gone away, the medication only buried it deep down. I looked towards the sky where the chopper disappeared to. Tomorrow, I’ll go back to that little bakery where I found out that she worked. It was a perfect setting to see her regularly…
AMARA POV. "Jared!" His name passed my lips before I could stop it. He was standing alone as others passed him on their way to the exit. No sign of Claire anywhere. "Is this really what you want, Amara?" he asked as I stood next to Ace at the entrance to our booth. I could feel Ace tense next to me when Jared spoke. My eyes were tearing up again as I saw the heart broken look on his face as his eyes darted to my hand that was holding onto Ace’s arm and I tried to pull my hand back but Ace clamped it tightly to his side and I let it be. Not wanting to make a fuss with so many people still walking past us and with Ace’s parents standing behind us. “Is it, Amara?” Jared asked again and I swallowed nervously as my heart thundered in my chest. I became aware of eyes staring at me from behind. I knew Ace’s parents were looking at me in anticipation but so was Ace. “Amara?” Jared prodded me on, waiting for an answer. "Yes." I answered as I didn’t know what else to say. I was about to wal
AMARA POV.I looked back and saw Ace speaking into his phone. He had an angry frown between his eyes and I wondered if it had anything to do with Jared being here. Speaking of Jared... he and Claire had just come through the front doors and before we could make eye contact, I turned to face the front again.I startled a moment later when I felt an arm wrap around my waist and for a moment, I thought it was Jared, but it was Ace. He didn’t have a long phone conversation it seems. “And?” I asked and he looked down at me. “I’ll tell you later. Why don’t we enjoy the show.” Ace said and urged me on to walk forward.I sighed but walked on. It didn’t surprise me when the hostess took one look at our tickets and indicated to us to take the elevator up to the box seats where they had the very best view of the theatre. His parents walked on ahead in front of us as we followed them and I noted that my hand hadn't left his and it felt comforting to feel his big hand in hers and it disturbed her
