"Xo..."
"Then you disappeared the next morning, but he had already fallen in love with you."
"Xo"
"But alas, you had left the country, so he spent a month looking for until he finally found you here today. How romantic."
Wei could feel a vein pop in her head. Finally, she grew tired and smacked Xo in the head. "What nonsense are you spouting?"
"Ouch," Zo exclaimed, retreating from Wei's grasp, she replied.
"Don't be mad because you did something so shameless; we have all been there; what I can't understand is why you would choose him?" She looked at the blond with disdain, but he only smirked before leaning to whisper. "I know you wish it was you."
"You!" she blushed, pushing away.
"Are you done?" Wei asked, visibly annoyed. Xo nodded silently.
"I met him at the incident with Chen and my sister; thanks for telling him all about that Xo." She eyed Xo, who slowly retreated behind the man. Sighing, Wei continued, "I ran into him on the elevator and then again as I was making my way out the room."
"That is when he consoled you, and you fell in love." Wei shot a glare at her chatty friend; Xo smiled sheepishly, making a zip motion with her hand across her mouth.
"More accurately, I ran into his boss; he is the secretary of some big shot?"
"Woah, Woah, who is a secretary." The man finally spoke anxiously
"This is why I shouldn't follow that arrogant bastard; now people are taking me as his secretary." He mumbled, annoyed fishing in his pockets; he pulled out two business cards handing one to Wei and the other to Zo.
"Charles Gu Vice President of Han Corporation" Wei eyed the card curiously before speaking. This man is the V.P of country J, number one Corporation, and here he was at the lower-income apartment building. What reason would he have to come here, she wondered? Could it be like Zo said, he had fallen in love that night and came to seek her out? She looked up at him again. No, she concluded, he didn't seem like the type. Still, him being here was no mere coincidence.
"Mr.Gu, what a coincidence to meet here." Charles, who had been arguing with Xo, turned his attention to Wei. "Not a coincidence, President Han requests an audience with you, Wei Ru."
"President Han? Oh, that cold man from the hotel. Why would he want to see me? Does he want to apologize for being so rude that night?" Suddenly Charles started laughing. Wei and Xo looked at each other confused and then back at Charles, who was trying to pull himself together; after a few minutes of finally stoping, he replied.
"I'm sorry, just the thought of Tyler apologizing makes me lose it."
"Tyler?" Wei asked, confused.
"President Han." He then grew serious as if he remembered his person.
"Mr. Han would like to see you; it concerns the Ru Corporation." Wei's eyes opened with shock; her mother's company, Tyler Han, couldn't possibly be thinking of harming it.
"Can't he wait? She just came."
"No, I'll go." She replied, she had to find out what he wanted to do; she couldn't let anyone harm that company, her mother's legacy. Her father had already ruined it enough, she did not know President Han personally, but with his company's power, he could make Ru Corporation disappear.
"Are you sure?" Xo asked concerned, Wei nodded. "It has to do with Ru Corporation." Xo nodded. She knew how much that company meant to Wei even if her mother was no longer alive and running it.
"Ok, I'll take up your bags, and I'll cook for you tonight."
"You don't."
"Stop arguing, go with Secretary Gu."
"Vice President," Charles replied, annoyed, but Xo ignored him. "If secretary Gu harms you, let me know I won't let him off."
"It's Vice President Guy, and I won't touch her." He snapped angrily.
"Secretary Gu better keep his word or else."
"For the last time, it's Vice President," Charles losing all the calmness he had earlier. Wei watched, amused; she knew Xo liked irritating people, so she wasn't surprised when Xo sighed, replying. "Secretary Gu, aren't you only a V.P in name only. What real V.P do you know out running errands for his boss?"
"He asked me to do it because he trusts me," Charles replied proudly.
"He asked you to do it because you are his Secretary."
"I'm am the Vice President," he replied angrily. Grabbing Xo's arm, he pulled her in close until their nose touched.
"you, what do you want," Xo exclaimed, her cheeks bright red. Pulling away, she fled upstairs; Wei could only laugh as she watched the pair.
Wei looked awkwardly as Charles stood with his head down."Are you ok?'"Ha Ha Ha." Charles laughed; Wei looked at him confused."Secret... Vice President Gu, your boss had something he wanted to discuss with me about the Ru Corporation. Shall we go?" Charles stopped laughing, remembering the purpose he straightened u."Ok."Wei found the drive surprising pleasant; it was a little awkward at first, but Wei opened up on Architecture. Charles had pointed to a newly built building complementing its design. The very building Wei and Xo had worked on their first year at the company. She explained that her company worked on that project; she was there during the designs even though she was only fetching coffee. Wei had so much fun talking about her work; it took her a while to realize that Charles had stopped talking. Wei looked at the tall building that stood before her, "Han Corporation." She suddenly felt her chest tighten while her stomach felt unset
Mr. Han, is this a marriage proposal?""Wei Ru, don't think too much."Wei looked at the domineering man puzzled; why was he asking her about her qualifications as a wife if they weren't wedded."My grandfather has instructed me to marry you, a woman who I met only once who threw herself at me. So, I ask again, what qualifies you to be my wife." Wei stared at the angry man before and sighed. Grabbing her bag, she stood up to leave."The first time I met you was an accident, the second time was a coincidence, Mr. Han, I have no interest in you. If there is nothing else, I'll take my leave now." before she could finish, he sprung to his feet, his dominating figure standing before her."Wei Ru, don't test my patience; this marriage is not a choice; your father presented grandfather with the lotus seal.""What?!" Wei asked, surprised; she had been told about the lotus seal by her mother before she died. Wei's grandparents had prevented Han Corporation f
Wei arrived home mentally exhausted, two annoying encounters in one day, she lamented as she thought of her misfortune of meeting both Chen Sun and Tyler Han today. "Ugh, " she sighed melting her couch, she kicked the shoes off her feet."What did Mr. Han want?""To marry me," Wei replied too tired to explain."What? So he did fall in love with you…" Xo replied running from the kitchen."No, my father invoked the lotus seal, now we're being forced…." Wei."Forced, lotus seal, Wei?" Xo asked, but Wei was already sleeping, she smiled grabbing a blanket she covered Wei."Forced marriage," she said out loudly sighing. Wei had been through so much after her mother's death, her father's indifference, her sisters and stepmother bullying. Xo had been there through it all sharing that pain with her. After college when they got their first jobs and Wei no longer had to rely on them, Xo had thought that everything would be better. She sho
Wei looked up at the eyes that always held scorn when they were cast upon. “President Han I.”“Didn’t expect to see me here, how lucky I was to witness the real you. I ensure you will never enjoy being Mrs.Han.” and with that, he walked past her. Xo looked at her, but Wei just held her head down; no, don’t hold your head down, Xo thought. I never want to see you with your head down, anger churning, she shouted after Tyler Han.“The real hero? What do you know? You pom..”Wei grabbed Xo's arm and shook her head.“He’s a client here; we can’t cause trouble.”“I don’t care; he can’t treat you like dirt, I’ll.”“Xo! We need this job.” Xo sighed. She knew Wei was right. This was the top architectural firm in the country. Getting fired would ensure they never work in the industry again. Sighing, Xo released her anger,"ok, Wei,
Chen sat in the dark corner of Weichen bar which he owned and had name after him and Wei. It had been their favorite place to unwind after a long week at work, laughing and drinking with friends. The bar was designed by Wei he had bought it as a gift at graduation so she would have her first design job out of college. Now looking at it everything in the place reminded him of Wei, a painful reminder of what he had lost. Drinking a glass of liquor he cussed himself for his stupidity of being caught by Hoo Ru, and cursed again because it had been a week and no one could find her.“Boss.”“if you don’t have that fucking bitch then don’t come in.” Chen replied before downing the glass of brown liquor and requesting and another.“Chen" he heard a shaking female voice say, before she spoke again he sprang to his feet and grabbed Hoo Ru by her throat gripping it a bit too tight.“It seems the gods are kind to me tod
Wei looked up at the house she had grown up in and sighed. This was the house she lost her parents, her mother in a car crash, and her father to indifference. This building held nothing but the pain of her past, all her lonely nights, being abused by her stepmother and ignored by her father. Her father, her mind flashed the image of the domineering Lang Ru. She hadn’t seen him in since she moved out five years ago, she had called him twice since then. The first time to invite him to her college graduation but he didn’t attend and the second time was last week she asked to meet. Hoo Ru was the only one she had kept in contact with, but now even that relationship was broken. A deep pain pierced her heart as the memories flood her mind. “No," she thought the past would not defeat her. She had to face them along with the man who lived within the walls. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes to steel her nerves and walked up to the door knocking. After a moment, a se
She just flew to her feet when she saw her father figure; she steered at her fingers nervously, she dared not look up. Suddenly she felt arms wrapped around her as he pulled her in for a hug. Wei’s body tensed to his touch; he had not hugged her or held her in his arms since she was six; therefore, she did not know how to react and could feel nothing but discomfort as she wondered who this man was.“Wei, you’re home.” Her father shouted joyously, still squeezing her.“Let go of the child; you want to squeeze her to death.” Aunt Din shouted after seeing the discomfort in Wei's expression“Tch,” her father replied, finally releasing Wei from his grasp.“Don’t forget your pl...” he began but stopped as if he remembered something.“If there is nothing else, Madame Din, you can go first. I would like to talk to my daughter.”“Heh, daughter, wonder wh
Wei.” Chen broke the silence first.Wei looked at Hoo who was smirking then at Chen whose face was grey and lifeless, she fought back her anger and her tears pushing passed the couple. “Excuse me.”“Wei.” Chen called grabbing her hand, Wei felt her body jolt in revulsion.“Let me go.” She shouted before running out the door.“Wei wait.” Chen replied as he turned to follow her.“Chen.” Hoo cried out grabbing her arm he glared at her, shook her arm off and chased Wei.“That bitch.” Hoo scowled as she watched Chen leave. She was always taking Chen’s attention, “tch I’ll have to teach her a lesson.” She smirked wickedly before sauntering in the house. Chen watched Wei play with Dylan his 2 year old, she was painting a picture of him when but he kept moving so she tipped the paint brush on the edge of
Wei watched as Tyler opened his shirt and eased back in the chair. She decided she needed to marry him for her protection. She would marry him so she could face her father and sister with his strength and then she would divorce him quietly once her mother’s company was returned to her. All she needed to do was convince this man before her. She took a deep breath and stood and approached him slowly.“Stay back.” He held up his hand to keep his distance as he stumbled backward.“I am only trying to help.” She said as she stood before him.“I don’t need your help. You could be responsible for—you could be the one who did this?” He grumbled.“And why would I—?” Wei paused as a knock at the door interrupted them.“Room service.” A high-pitched voice.“Did you order something?” Wei asked him as the knocking persisted.“No, get rid of them.”Wei frowned as she was about to tell him not to order her around, but stopped. She needed him after all, so getting on his bad side wasn’t advisable. We
“What’s going on here?” Wei never thought she would see the day when she would be happy to hear tear Mr. Han’s voice, much less be in his arms. But at this moment, she was ecstatic. Tyler looked furrowed his brown as he stared at her, then he lifted his eyes to the man still standing at the door.“Will one of you explain?”“We’re sorry to disturb you, sir; my wife is just a little upset me.” The man said as he reached for her, but before the man could touch her, Tyler grabbed his hand.“This is your wife?” He asked cooly.“Yes, we’ve had a bit of a lover’s quarrel, but….” Tyler chuckled.“Ms. Ru, so you have been chasing me these last couple of days while you’re married?” Wei frowned. When was she chasing him? Their meetings had either been accidental, or he initiated it. She had never chased him once.&ld
Wei took a deep breath as she entered the Elevator and quickly pressed the button for Hoo’s floor. She was nervous that Hoo would lose her child, so she wanted to get the medicine and return it quickly. Then she could go home and cry herself to sleep. She watched as the elevator doors shut before she stepped back and closed her eyes. But she quickly opened them when Chen’s smile popped into her mind. She still loved him and probably would always love him. But he betrayed her, and he was having a baby with her sister, no matter how her heart yearned for him. She knew he would never be hers again. Opening her eyes, she wiped the corner of her eyes that had watered as the elevator came to a stop. Hoo took a deep breath as the door opened, then stepped into the hallway. Without delay, she sprinted towards Hoo’s room. It was not the penthouse suite since that room had a standing reservation that Hoo could never get her hands on, no m
Wei sat in bar staring at her drink debating whether she should drown her sorrows or call it a night. After her talk with Chen she found herself feeling particularly lonely tonight and did not want to go home to an empty apartment, since Xi was visiting her parents. Wei picked this bar because she visited a few times after work with her Xi and some of their colleagues and she really liked the mature atmosphere of the bar. Taking a sip after finally deciding to comfort herself with some alcohol, she recoiled as the harsh taste hit tongue and as she swallowed, she felt a burning sensation at the back of throat which made her immediately want to toss the drink. ‘Drink it slowly’ her mind suddenly flashed to first time she had snuck liquor with Chen when she was 15. The memory of her first taste of alcohol and the hungover that followed used to make her smile. Now... she grabbed the glass again and took another swig of the bitter alcohol just for today she wanted to forget Chen and Hoo.
