A stormy commitment

Luis José was left in shock, speechless. I couldn't explain anything; He had hidden his marriage. But the most serious problem was knowing that he was married to my sister April.

—Ana Paula, please, we have to talk, but not here. Things are not as you imagine them.

-Talk? Do you think there's anything to say after this? I have nothing to talk to you, but I have to talk to my sister. He doesn't deserve to have a scoundrel like you by his side.

-No Please! Don't make a fuss. That would kill your sister.

—And why didn't you think about that before getting into bed with me?

—I swear I didn't know that you and April were sisters. He almost never talked about his family. After your parents opposed our marriage, she wanted to get away from everything.

—But did you need to know that? The point is that you were unfaithful to him, and unfortunately he was with me. I have to tell him immediately. I can't stay silent with a scoundrel like this.

-No Please! You can not do it.

—And who is going to stop me? You?

—You can't tell her anything because your sister has a heart condition.

The tension in the air was palpable as Luis José's words echoed in my mind. A chill ran down my spine, and my heart pounded. To what extent was what he said true? I didn't know it, but the gravity of the situation paralyzed me.

-What are you saying? —I exclaimed, with my eyes fixed on his—. How far does your ability to lie go? I don't believe you!

Luis José kept his gaze fixed on me, his expression was serious and determined.

"Please, Ana Paula," he whispered. What I'm telling you is true, but this is not the time to explain it to you. Let me talk somewhere else. If you want, it can be tomorrow. And if after listening to me you still have the idea of telling April everything, that's fine. I'll be the one to tell him.

Just at that moment, April appeared and found us in the middle of the hallway. I had been looking for Luis José for a while, and when I saw him talking to me, his face lit up with a smile.

"Honey, I finally found you," he said, handing her a glass. But it's good that I see them talking. Sister, you had me worried, I hope you feel better.

Nervousness took over me. I felt like my face was showing a lie, and at any moment April could discover everything. The bravery I had felt minutes ago when threatening Luis José with telling Abril the whole truth faded when I had her in front of me.

The atmosphere was filled with secrets and betrayals, and I was torn between loyalty and forbidden love. How could I face my sister with the truth? And what would happen when April discovered that I had fallen in love with her beloved husband?

Fate had woven a dangerous web, and I was trapped in it, not knowing whether the truth would free us or destroy us all.

—Ana Paula, are you okay? You seem distant.

April looked at me with concern, her dark eyes reflecting her uncertainty as she did not understand what was happening to me.

—Excuse me, April. A migraine suddenly attacked me, and the truth is I prefer to retire to my room.

My voice sounded weak, but I couldn't stay in the middle of the two, what was happening was too aberrant.

—You can't do this to your fiancé! April crossed her arms, and in a severe tone told me: "He just arrived and is looking for you." If you don't come out, dad will drag you to the party.

That was the worst moment, to complete my sorrows, Nelson, the man I least wanted to see, had to appear right now.

And as if that were not enough, Luis José, in a fit of jealousy, added:

—Wow, sister-in-law, I didn't know you were engaged. But my wife is right, you shouldn't keep your boyfriend waiting. - he said ironically.

I was forced to return to the party to greet Nelson. I didn't know if what Luis José had said about Abril was true. I would have to clear that up with him another time. When I entered the room, my father took me by the arm and said:

—Daughter, you finally appear. This party is to celebrate your birthday and the return of your sister. But look who has a big surprise for you.

Nelson was standing in front of me, holding a huge bouquet of red roses. He came over and handed them to me, but the surprise didn't end there.

—My life, happy birthday! You don't know how much I wanted to see you.

Nelson spoke the words with emphasis, making sure everyone in the room heard. But when he hugged me, his voice became a whisper:

—Where were you that you weren't answering my calls? We'll talk about that later.

As he separated and handed me the bouquet of red roses, his smile widened, completing my torment:

—Taking advantage of this special celebration for my princess, I want to give her the engagement ring and announce that our wedding will be in a month.

The ground seemed to wobble under my feet. I didn't expect to receive news like this. My parents burst with joy; For them, it was the perfect union. Nelson pumped millions into Dad's law firm and other shared businesses.

Marrying him would multiply our earnings and ensure the financial well-being of the family. Luis José's expression was the same or worse than mine. His gaze locked on me. April ran to congratulate me, oblivious to the bitter pill I was going through.

-CONGRATULATI ons sister. But honey, you should also congratulate Ana Paula.

Luis José came up, hugged me and whispered in my ear:

—Tomorrow we have to see each other. What I felt for you was not a lie.

I shuddered. I hated Luis José with all my might, but I also wanted to run away with him, regardless of the consequences.

The room was filled with applause and congratulations as Nelson slipped the ring onto my finger. But my mind was somewhere else. Luis José, with his intense gaze, had left me a promise in his whispered words: “I'll call you tomorrow. What I felt for you was not a lie.”

Was it possible to love someone forbidden? My heart was beating wildly, torn between commitment and passion. April smiled, oblivious to my torment, while Luis José walked away with an indecipherable expression.

The party continued, but I was trapped in a maze of emotions. How would I escape this love triangle? Could I move forward with Nelson knowing that my heart belonged to another.
