An unexpected kiss

That day, upon returning home, I felt helpless and affected after the conversation with Luis José. I had confirmed the delicate state of health of my sister April, and although she loved him deeply, she could not ignore that he was her husband. The situation forced me to stay silent and stay away from him forever.

—Ana Paula, you finally arrive. Dad and mom asked about you. They invited us to lunch at the club, but you didn't answer your cell phone. — I'm sorry, April, but I don't feel well. I retire to my room.

- Wait! Look how your foot is swollen and bleeding.

The pain from the wound was indescribable. I had forgotten to take care of the wound due to my worries.

— You must heal that wound, Ana Paula. I should tell Luis José to examine you.

- No! It's not necessary, I can do it.

- Why not? Luis José is an excellent doctor. Although it has not yet been specialized, you are in good hands.

- I do not want to bother. I can take care of myself.

Seeing Luis José with my sister reminded me of how forbidden our love was. Sometimes, the more unattainable something is, the more attractive it becomes. That's how I felt. Furthermore, he had to avoid being close to him at all costs.

Just at that moment, Luis José entered, having left the cafe before me. Surprise was reflected on his face when he heard April.

— Honey, it's good that you arrived. You have to check on my sister urgently. She needs you.

Luis José seemed confused.

- To your sister? But... I don't understand. She needs me?

— Oh, fool! As a doctor, you must examine her. She was also in Cancun and cut the sole of her foot on glass while walking on the beach. Curious, right? Since your congress went there too.

April's comment made us exchange glances. We were both on the edge, it was more than obvious that our expressions gave away what we were feeling. But she, ultimately naive to what was happening, remained very calm.

Luis José, like a true gentleman, approached me nervously: — Can you allow me to see the wound?

- Yes of course. — I responded, trying to avoid those blue eyes that disarmed me when they stared at me.

I had no choice but to sit and let him examine me. It was a moment of great tension. Feeling his hands again touching my skin relived that moment when I saw him for the first time.

The nervousness in me was palpable, the injury to my foot, caused by glass on the beach in Cancun, had led me to an uncomfortable and unimaginable situation.

Luis José, my sister Abril's husband, was now also the doctor who had to examine me. And although I tried to keep my distance, destiny seemed determined to bring us together.

His worried face was immediate when he saw my wound, and he immediately told me:

— A stitch has opened, that's why you're bleeding.

—But is it serious, darling? —April asked, with a nervous smile. — My sister was treated by a stranger on the beach, her “unknown savior,” as she calls him. And, here among us, it seems that she hasn't stopped thinking about him since we arrived from Cancun.

—Shut up, April! - I snapped. —You have no right to reveal my intimacies. I told you in confidence, like a sister's secret.

—But we trust each other, right, Luis José? - said April, with complicity. — Now you are part of the family. Besides, you won't say anything to Nelson, will you, darling?

Luis José seemed uncomfortable. — Please, April, don't make those comments in front of me. Regarding the injury, I need to find my briefcase. I must go back to take some points.

April didn't wait to react: — What do you mean you have to take his stitches again? Not that you would have stitched them the first time.

— Don't get me wrong, April. I meant that I should take other points — Luis José clarified.

I was trapped between them, wishing the earth would open up and swallow me. We were both nervous, unable to hide what we felt.

"Well, I was just joking," April said, changing her tone. — I'm going to change to go to the club. Although I am married to the best doctor, I cannot tolerate the sight of blood. Little sister, I leave you in the best hands.

I was left alone with Luis José, reliving the same scene of our first meeting. "Don't worry, it will only be a stitch," he whispered as he held my foot and sewed the wound carefully.

The pain of the needle on my skin was insignificant compared to what I felt in my heart. "Thank you," I murmured, not knowing if I was grateful for the stitch or for his closeness.

I tried to get up from the couch but my foot was so swollen that the pain did not allow me to do so.

—Ana Paula, I told you that you can't put your foot down.

—But I have to go to my room, there's no way I'm going to sit here all day.

— Well, we'll fix that right now.

- But what are you doing? Don't even think about it, let me go Luis José! Please put me down now.

Luis José couldn't think of anything else but to carry me in his arms, just as he had done when we met in Cancun. He took me to my room and placed me on the bed.

I was so close to him, it was a real torture to feel his perfume so closely again, that special sensation that made me give myself to him without thinking that he was a total stranger to me.

When he placed me on the bed, it was inevitable that our eyes did not meet again, this time in an intense way, even stronger than the first time.

He was so close to my face that I could feel his rapid breathing, his heart beating very close to my chest, until he inevitably brushed his lips against mine, and kissed me again like the first time.

Suddenly we heard footsteps and immediately separated, that voice made a chill invade my entire body, almost to the point of my heart stopping.

— Am I interrupting something?

—Nelson! But what are you doing here?

— I would like to ask you the same question sweetheart, first I find them in the cafe and now they are in your room. Don't tell me that you gathered here because another illness arose in my dear little sister-in-law.

It was a rather awkward moment for the three of us, the last thing I expected was that after our meeting at the cafe, Nelson was going to show up at home by surprise and to make matters worse he was going to look for me straight to my room.
