AMELIA
“ Look at the audacity of that whore. ”
“ She is so shameless. She should have killed herself by now. ”
“ I know right? She is such a slut. I am sure it was all her fault. She is pretending to be innocent now. ”
I could hear the whispers among the girls standing in the corner but I pretended to be deaf. Ady was by my side, but she was too busy looking around in awe to pay attention to what people were whispering about me.
I told myself it didn’t matter. It shouldn’t.
But, it did.
Every time they called me a whore, a slut, a bitch…a part of me agreed with them. I deserved all that.
It had been my fault after all.
They were right.
But, they should have said that straight to my face instead of hiding in the corners. I appreciated brave people, not irrelevant people who whispered among themselves.
“ Amelia. ” A hand landed on the small of my back.
I turned around abruptly and looked up at Daniel. He was a handsome boy. With his light brown hair and deep grey-green eyes, he could steal anyone’s heart. And seeing him up close was not a bad sight.
But, I couldn’t help the shiver of disgust that rolled down my spine at his touch.
His handsome face didn’t make up for his rotten personality. If Adelia was not a problem and at stake, I would have probably broken his hand. But, right now, it was only possible in my dreams.
“ Daniel. ” I breathed, unconsciously stepping away from him.
“ Hey, Daniel. ” Adelia waved at him as an innocent smile formed on her lips.
“ Hi, Deli! ”
Daniel’s hungry gaze flickered to her face, a wicked smirk gracing his lips. Dread coiled around my insides.
“ Daniel. ” I stepped closer and grabbed his arm to divert his attention to me.
He couldn’t look at Adelia. That was not good. I couldn’t bear his dirty eyes on my innocent sister when she couldn’t even decipher the meaning behind his smirk.
“ Amelia. ” He tore his gaze from my sister and looked at me.
I glanced at Adelia. “ I am sure you are hungry, Ady. Why don’t you go ahead and help yourself? We can join you later. ”
“ Of course. ” Her cheeks flushed red. “ Have a good time, Amy! ”
I sighed in relief when she left the space. Daniel placed his hands over my waist and pulled me in.
“ You finally came to your senses? ” He grinned.
“ I am sorry I…I didn’t know it bothered you so much. If I knew, I wouldn’t refuse you. ” I whispered, as my eyes stung.
If only I could punch him and knock all his filthy teeth out right now, I would have been the happiest woman to die an early death after that.
Daniel gripped my right wrist all of a sudden and started dragging me away from the main hall where the crowd for the event was gathered.
People shot us curious looks. I ignored them as much as I could and kept my head down. The whispers of disgust followed me until I was in the secluded corner close to the throne room.
Daniel pushed me against the wall before placing his hands beside my head and leaning in.
I curled my hands into fists and looked down. I couldn’t meet his gaze when I knew what we were here for.
His lips landed on my cheek. Tears of anger and disgust welled in my eyes.
I hated this.
I hated him.
My head turned to the side unconsciously just when his lips were about to touch mine. The repulsion was not something I could control when he was near.
He gripped my jaw and forced me to look at him again. The playful grin was gone. His eyes were spitting fire now. It was enough to tell me that I had infuriated him once more.
“ Why do you always act so innocent? ” He hissed, squeezing my jaw hard.
I winced as the pain hit my neck and face due to his harsh grip. He would be crushing my jawbone if he didn’t release me right now.
He dived in and pressed his lips to mine. My body jolted with the intensity of anger I felt at the move.
I placed my hands on his chest and pushed him away instinctively. Daniel stumbled a step. His hand fell from my jaw.
“ What the fuck? Did you just push me away? ” He whispered, glancing at his chest in disbelief.
“ I—Anyone can come here. We are in the open. This is not appropriate. ” I blurted to cover up the blunder.
If he told Dad, he would surely not spare Adelia this—
I yelped as Daniel’s hand landed on my throat and made all thoughts disappear from my head.
“ You slut! ” He growled in my face.
I placed my hands on his, ready to throw him away but the thought of hurting him in the process scared me. It wouldn’t end well for my sister. I knew.
His face neared mine again, but this time, anger was dominant over his filthy lust. He squeezed my throat so hard that my vision blackened.
I opened my mouth to breathe. But the grip on my throat didn’t allow it.
“ D—D… ” I choked.
His fingers dug into my skin. My legs weakened as I struggled for air.
My heartbeat sounded in my ears. My eyes closed as tears slid out of them and rolled down my cheeks.
‘ Fight back! ’ My wolf who was always usually mad at me and opted to remain silent, growled inside my head.
‘ I can’t fight back. Now—Now is not the time. ’ I hissed back.
Daniel shook me violently before throwing me away. My body hit the floor. I coughed and grabbed my throat. My struggles for air didn’t let me notice the pain in my arm and waist for a few moments.
“ You are just a good-for-nothing whore and you think you deserve appropriate behavior from me? ” He huffed.
I sobbed as the pain intensified in my side.
“ If you wanted appropriate, why did you let the Alpha King fuck you? ” He added and crouched down beside me.I closed my eyes, waiting for another hit as his hands raised in the air. He had never hit me before and had only used words, but I was not surprised.
Who would accept me if not a person like him in my Dad’s opinion?
I was damaged goods for the whole Kingdom of East.
“ Why don’t you ask me? ” A deep-velvety voice sounded in my ears.
My body stiffened, making it impossible for me to breathe, to move an inch. Fear squeezed my heart and froze everything inside out. But it was not only fear. There was that familiar thrill too—The thrill that brought all my nerve cells to life and left me shivering and gasping on the floor.
“ Your Highness. ” Daniel whispered, his voice growing distant and respectful.
My heartbeat quickened. I forgot about the pain, and the loss of breath, and everything else in the world.
The Moon Goddess had refused to answer my prayers. She made it clear she wouldn’t forgive me or answer my prayer even if I begged.
Because I didn’t deserve it.
“ Your Highness…It’s not like what you are thinking. She—She fell. ” Daniel stuttered pathetically.
He could beat me all he wanted, but he was just a routine werewolf when it came to the Alpha King. Because the King was a Lycan. A superior race that ruled over all werewolves. They were blessed by the Moon Goddess. They had strength and power that was not seen in anyone else.
“ She did? ” His deep voice sounded again.
“ Y—Yes. ”
“ And? ” He hummed. “ do you want to fall too? ”
“ N—No, Your Highness. ” Daniel uttered.
“ Leave then. Disappear from my sight before I help you fall. ” Tyson’s voice was eerily calm and cool.
“ Yes, Your Highness. ” Daniel’s running footsteps echoed in the space right after he was done talking.
Coward couldn’t wait a moment more.
I stayed in my position, waiting for Tyson to leave too. I knew he wouldn’t hurt me here. There were a large number of people around, but this didn’t help ease the fear and thrill which had me paralyzed in my spot.
My body was shivering while my heart remained beating in my stomach. I clenched my hands into fists as I waited for him to leave desperately.
A few moments passed. The atmosphere grew heavy with tense anticipation.
Please leave.
Please leave Tyson.
Oh Goddess, please.
“ Amelia. ” His voice shouldn’t have sounded so hot when he took my name, but the whisper had my insides quivering.
My eyes snapped open and landed on the black shiny boots in the distance. I could see my reflection in them. And maybe, that’s where I belonged too.
“ Tyson. ” My breath whooshed out of me as I took his name.
Slowly my gaze rose from his toned legs to his white fit button-down shirt, and then his neck. I couldn’t look up.
I couldn’t.
I shouldn’t.
I—
“ Missed me? ” He rasped, sending another chill down my spine. His voice was hot chocolate—Bitter and sweet and creamy—Everything that made my stomach clench.
Despite my hardest efforts, my eyes found their way to the handsome face I had a hard time forgetting. The once soft features were rougher now. The contour of his thick lips had become firm, and tempting.
And his eyes…
I swallowed.
His eyes had darkened. The light that always resided in the black holes was replaced with an evil glint one could hardly avoid.
He was not a pretty boy now.
He was a man.
A dream man. With a perfect body. And an uncommon, breathtaking face.
All this must have helped him fuck his way through half the Kingdom. Because that’s what he was famous for. He was a playboy who changed women in his bed more than his clothes in a week.
I breathed but found his scent non-existent in the air. He had it masked and that’s probably why Daniel and I didn’t know of his arrival.
How much did he see? Or hear? I wondered silently.
“ That’s disappointing. Don’t you want to answer me? I thought you will be excited to meet. Are you not? ” Tyson rested his back against the wall and stared at me from under his thick lashes. His muscles flexed, the buttons of his shirt barely holding back the tan skin from going on full display.
“ What? ” I whispered, unable to not feel the intense desire to touch him.
“ Oh. ” His lips formed an O. “ Can’t think straight when you are busy thinking about what I am hiding under the clothes? ”
My throat dried. I pushed myself to my butt and slid back until my spine hit the wall. I flinched as the stabbing pain started in my side.
Tyson’s gaze didn’t waver from my face. The darkness he held in his eyes was frightening.
Right now, I was his perfect prey. Weak and fallen. Silent and scared. Everything he would have wanted me to be.
All of a sudden, he pushed himself off the wall and let the agony of the buttons end. His tall frame stalked towards me with deliberate laziness.
AMELIA I tried to think about something else or to find the strength in my legs to run away from him but he had me captivated. He always had. Breaking his spell was not something I was capable of. Not five years ago and not now. He crouched down in front of me. The little energy in my heart had all evaporated into thin air. It was a struggle to breathe when I knew I could raise my hand and touch him. “ What do you want, Tyson? ” I uttered, dropping my gaze to the floor. If I looked at him a moment more, I was not sure I wouldn’t whimper before him like a pathetic creature because I didn’t like the way he stared at me right now. Like he wanted to set me alight and turn me into ashes. “ Don’t you know what I want? ” Tyson’s fleeting voice fell on my ears and stole the rest of my breath. What else could he want more than ripping me apart and then putting me back together so he could do it again? And again? And again? He hated me. I made him hate me. His hand rose in the air. S
TYSON I always wondered what it would be like to just turn all emotions off. Like turning off a switch inside your head. One flick. All emotions gone. That’s what I decided I would do if I ever came across Amelia Kingsley again in my life. I would prefer to feel fucking nothing. But that was not what I felt when I met her. One look at her, and I felt everything there was to feel. A wave of burning anger. A cold desire to harm her. My blood became poison in my veins. With each breath, I thought about the worst ways to hurt her. Then, it all went crashing on the floor when her jasmine and vanilla scent invaded my senses. The world came to a halt. Everything seemed meaningless as I stood frozen on my spot, watching her about to get hit by a man I carefully recognized as a troublesome Alpha’s spawn. Silence reigned in my mind and in my soul. And just as his hand lifted in the air, chaos erupted inside me. ‘ Mate. ’ The snappy voice roared inside my head. Annoying. As. Fuck
AMELIA I couldn’t hear them talking about Tyson like that anymore when I knew he was listening to everything and was probably murdering me in his head. So, I walked away from the hall to find a place to hide like I usually did in events like these. My body shivered due to the intensity of the anger I felt toward myself and my Dad. I stayed outside in the garden, staring at the beautiful white roses and taking some deep breaths until the music in the hall couldn’t be heard anymore. I thought the music had stopped so it must mean that the event was coming to an end. I decided to walk back inside so I could talk to Dad about Daniel. There was no way I would go with him. But what could I possibly do to avoid it? I had to come up with something to convince Dad and I had to do it fast. When I neared the throne room in the way, I saw people gathering outside it. The horrified murmurs caught my attention. “ He killed them all. ” “ Beheaded them. ” “ There is blood. ” “ Blood! ”
AMELIA “ Tyson! ” I winced as his fingers dug into my wrist. He didn’t stop to hear. He continued to drag me forward as if he didn’t care if he was hurting me. People saw us and whispered about it but they didn’t dare come into his path. My eyes searched for Adelia or Dad in case they could provide me an excuse to escape. They were nowhere to be seen, to my surprise. It was like they had left the palace and left me behind. Although, I did catch Daniel’s face among the faces of other people. His wide eyes were zeroed in on Tyson’s hand around my wrist. I couldn’t understand the emotion in his eyes but it was nothing good. Tyson hauled me up the flight of stairs silently. His aura was growing suffocating and dark, making my heart drum in my ears in fear. Reaching the first floor, he didn’t stop and tugged me to the King’s chambers in the right corner. My eyes widened when I saw the doors of his room in the distance. “ What are you doing? ” I placed my hand over his, attempting
AMELIA Fortunately for me, Tyson hadn’t put any guards on the secret entrance of the Eastcairn Citadel. I didn’t think he suspected I would go against his word and defy him. And even if he did, he didn’t believe I would escape from the secret entrance he had once shown me. It was our secret, the entrance I always used to sneak in and out of the palace undetected back when we were friends. Memories of the past threatened to consume me when I was out of the palace, but I couldn’t waste my time with them when Adelia needed me. It was a long walk back to my pack. I could start walking tonight and might end up there a day later. That was not something I wanted, so I shifted into my wolf much to her protest, and then ran at full speed to get home. Even then, it took me the whole night to get there. When I finally reached my pack borders, the patrol guards saw my white wolf and let me in. I went straight to the packhouse. Much to my surprise, Dad was in the field opposite it, addres
AMELIA “ Where is she? ” I barged inside my Dad’s office. He was sitting in his chair. There was no worry or signs of stress on his face. I masked the panic reflecting on my face and stood in the doorway. My heart was about to break out of my tender ribcages due to the intense fear which made it beat faster than it ever did before. Dad rested back and stretched his palm on top of the desk. I eyed his hand before looking at his face again. “ Where is she, Dad? ” My voice dropped in volume. One thing I learned after spending so many years with him was the fact that anger and stubborness could never get the answer out of him. He liked submission. You could only get the answers you needed if you appeased him by pretending to be weak. That’s what I had done throughout my life and what I intended to do now. “ She is safe. ” Dad told me. His hand rose in the air before he gestured towards the chair opposite him. I didn’t protest. I approached his desk and took the seat he offered.
AMELIA Dad and I went out of the packhouse, and there he was. Right in the middle of the same field where Dad had asked his warriors to prepare for war and to stop Tyson and his warriors from entering his territory. It turned out that Dad’s warriors couldn’t do what their Alpha had commanded. Tyson was here. And so was a warrior with him. Dad’s people surrounded the King’s black stallion. My breath caught in my throat when I looked at the warriors of our pack. I could tell they didn’t want to do this just by looking at their trembling and stumbling feet but their Alpha’s command had bound them to this fate. The ground was still shaking occasionally, sending shivers down my spine. It was like the surface was pulsating and breathing like a living creature. “ What do you think you are doing? ” Tyson asked, everyone, and no one in general. The warriors didn’t say anything. They held their position while Dad stayed by my side, waiting for Tyson to do something so he could get another
AMELIA “ You will walk. ” Tyson told me. I took a deep breath and kept my head down. “ it might take a whole day to get home if I walk. ” “ And you think I care? Why is that? ” His cold voice made my spine freeze. Without saying another word to him, I started walking. It was no use arguing. He was trying to hurt me, and I should at least let him do that after everything I did to him. His horse and the horse of his warrior both followed me as I walked in front. After running home all the way from the Eastcairn Citadel and then running all around the pack to find Adelia, my legs hurt. With each step forward, I felt a sharp pain shooting from the tips of my toes to my inner thighs. The muscles in my legs were not in good condition. I could heal if I was given some time to rest, but I wouldn’t get that. Telling him that walking hurt like hell right now would only please him more. “ What were you thinking when you decided to go against me? ” Tyson asked after a long pause. How was

AMELIA ...One and a Half Month Later… Nora told me she would wait for any word from Avery. I was with her on this. Once she looked for Nora, we would do everything to stop Dustin from sending her to the South. He couldn’t force his sister. She was not a pushover and she was not alone. But, our wait remained just that. Avery never called for help. She didn’t look for Tyson or Striker or any of us. After a week, she silently disappeared. We would have never expected her to just go like this, without a word, or without putting up a fight, or without any farewell One day I woke up and Tyson simply told me he got the news from North. Avery was already in the South. That didn’t make sense to me or Nora who was still there with me. Now another month passed after Avery’s sudden disappearance. We waited for a message from her, but the gates of the South were closed, and the magic shield was back. No one could go inside and no one came out. In the first few days, Tyson and Striker threw
AMELIA Things worked out. I didn’t expect them to, but they did. That was the only thought in my mind as I lay in Tyson’s arms, wrapped up in a blanket after several intense rounds of sex. His fingers traced imaginary shapes on my lower back and I enjoyed the feel of his skin over mine, lazy and gentle. At that moment, I decided I should tell him what I didn’t before, “ I was not the only one there. ” “ Hmm? ” He turned to me and pulled me closer to his body. I sighed, inhaling my lingering scent on his neck. I had made peace with the fact that I might never get to inhale his true scent. “ Levian. ” I whispered and sensed his shoulder tensing under my cheek, “ He was there last night. He saved me and Ryder. I don’t know why but he…helped us. If it was not for him, maybe, I wouldn’t have made it. Aleister was sending weird shadow monsters and our people to kill me, Tyson. And when these creatures noticed Ryder…they wanted to hurt him to get to me. ” His hand paused. I waited for
TYSON She must be awake. I concluded and decided to go to her. However, her scent drew close and filled my senses, freezing me on my spot. Was she going to be mad because I made a wrong decision and left her to fight on her own? “ Tyson. ” Her sweet voice fell on my ears, drawing my attention to the door behind me. She stood in the doorway, dressed in a plain light green dress that fell to her ankles. There was no sign of sickness on her face, but a wide smile as she walked to me on hurried steps. “ Lia. ” My heart missed a beat. She stopped in front of me and without caring about the other three people in the room, cupped my cheek in her warm palm. “ Did we manage to get rid of the threat? ” We. My shoulders loosened. We were still ‘we’. I gripped her hand and sat her down to my side. Immediately, she pressed herself to me as if she couldn’t bear to be away. Her injuries had healed, leaving her pale skin smooth and soft. “ You played a big role in this, Amelia. ” Striker st
TYSONI should have expected something to be wrong. Nothing ever went smoothly for me. Lia was unconscious when I arrived at the Eastcairn Citadel. Surprisingly, I only felt her pain when I was inside the walls. From the looks of it, she was not in a severe condition. She just exerted all her energy and fell unconscious. By the time I went to her, Nora and the servants had already transferred her body to her room. Even a healer was done checking up on her and told Nora that she was fine. Now, she slept in her room peacefully. The guests were sent home safely and the castle was cleaned. In a short while, everything looked as new as ever. But, it didn’t put my mind at ease. My wolf was restless, and after a long time, I could feel it. We had marked each other but hadn’t mated and he wouldn’t settle until the deed was done.“ She had Ryder in her arms when I came. Even in that state, no one could take him away from her. She protected him until I came back. ” Nora sighed, recalling t
TYSON “ Where do you think Dustin disappeared to? ” I shook my head and leaned back. Dark Fog extinguished the eternal fire and left me in the dark again. I couldn’t bother to look at Striker, but I knew he was seeing the same thing as me. “ He must be hiding in the corner somewhere. ” Striker snickered, trying to lighten the chilly atmosphere. The bodies that came at us this time were aggressive and fought back. I had a hard time knocking them when I found multiple dead bodies lunging at me, jumping at my back, reaching for my throat, my eyes, my nose and everywhere they could reach. I was swarmed with the bones that clung to me and pushed me to my knees with their weight. That was an odd experience, getting buried under the dead people. I sucked in a few labored breaths. The putrid smell of death filled me, making me dizzy and suffocated. My hands landed on the ground. I could feel the grass clinging to my skin as if it were drawn to me. Gritting my teeth, I let the pent-up
TYSONI felt uneasy. It was not because of Aleister but because my guts told me I shouldn’t have left Amelia alone. But, I couldn’t go to her now. We were already so far. The King of the South had half my Kingdom under his control, and Striker's fire was the only thing that could cut through the veil of Darkness that seemed to be the root of mind control. Nora, Dustin, and I followed him as he let his fire burn through the ground. The quarreling, compelled people started to break out of their daze and came to their senses as soon as they saw the light. We were far from the castle now, and all I heard was silence behind the walls. It was almost like there was a barrier around Eastcairn Citadel that didn’t let any noise leave the place.“ I shouldn’t have listened to you, Dustin. ” I scoffed as we came to a halt in the open field.“ He knows something we don’t. Again. That’s why he insists on walking this way. ” Nora scoffed. She was equally uneasy because she had to leave a sleeping R
AMELIAMy lungs ached as the hands tightened around my throat. I tried to breathe but all I could manage was a broken gasp. Why? The question echoed in my head. Why did I have to die? Why was he trying to kill me?‘ Your existence is meaningless. You are not needed. ’ He answered as if he could hear everything in my head.I am needed—I wanted to shout. My eyes bulged as I failed to breathe. I tried to claw my way out but my arms were pinned. My necklace was torn from my neck. My earrings went next. They tore my dress and ripped my hair. I was too desperate for oxygen to feel pain. Silently, I wondered if Tyson could feel what I was feeling. I wished he couldn’t. I didn’t want him to be hurt because of me. ‘ See for yourself how insignificant you are. ’ His voice whispered in my head. And I saw what he wanted to show me. I saw Mom, and Dad, and Adelia. They were happy without me—Happy and Alive. I saw Avery and Tyson and the rest of their friends, their family—They were complete wit
AMELIAMy neck burned and energy swarmed through my limbs. Ignoring the drilling pain inside my head, I pushed myself to my feet.Tyson rose with me, his hands gripping my arms protectively.“ Lia… ”“ Go… ”“ Have…”Tyson’s lips were moving. He was saying something to me but the occasional ringing in my ears didn’t let me catch onto whatever he was trying to tell me.His eyes were narrowed, his hold tight over my arms.It was like my head was underwater, or something was trying to keep my head under. The pain grew, and so did the burning in my neck. The little energy I had was shared through the mate mark, and it made it harder for the King of the South to get inside my head.I shook my head, trying to break free but it only made me realize how hard it was to move my neck. I was stiff like a board. My mind was not the only thing on the verge of succumbing to the power striking my skull.Suddenly, a huge line of fire swished beside me, cutting through the dark fog. I gasped, and the t
