Adair’s Point of View
“What the hell do you mean there is no match?!” I roar through the phone.
“Mr. Adair, no o-one that we visited had the t-tattoo as s-shown i-in the p-icture and their profile wasn’t s-similar to the d-description.” The detective stutters.
“What about the tattoo artists? I presume you idiots found nothing as well?” I say with rage, pacing back and forth in my office.
“N-nothing s-sir. No-one remembers since it wasn’t c-custom design and-”
“-Your fired.” I state cutting off his bullshit and ending the call.
My body shakes in fury and irritation as I tightly grip the edge of the table to stop myself from connecting my fist onto it and smashing it into pieces.
All they had to do was find the damn guy and they couldn’t do that.
“SHIT!” I yell throwing my phone across the room in frustration.
Aaliyah gave me a ride to Adair’s house since she was dying to see how it looked in person. I did take quick pictures in the morning before going to work, but she wanted to see the ‘work of art’ herself.“This is amazing!” Aaliyah breathes taking in the exterior of the home.“Wait till you see the inside.” I laugh.Walking into the house, I’m bombarded with two maids and a chef. One of them grabs my purse while the other helps me take my coat off. The chef asks me what I would like for dinner and I honestly didn’t know I had that much authority to decide the menu.“Um, just surprise me.” I say unable to think of something that Adair will like too. The chef gives a wide smile and walks back to the kitchen. I think he’s excited to cook his own creation.“Girl, your being treated like a queen! I mean you are one, but damnnnn!” She says waving her hand in front of her f
I was able to move around my client meetings to allow for our fake court hearing to happen this Wednesday instead of next week. Mr. Adair told Mr. Rollins how we were going to leave for Italy and Mr. Rollins worked it all out with my other clients making it much easier on my part.Because I’m going to be leaving in a couple days, Mr. Rollins brought in another accomplished lawyer, Mrs. Kimathi, to fill in for me until I get back. I spend the rest of my Tuesday briefing her about all the upcoming hearings, meetings, paperwork, and remind her that she has access to Aaliyah if she needs anything.Mrs. Kimathi has been in the law field for over twenty-five years and listening to her about her cases makes me less worried about how she’ll handle mine.“Any questions?” I ask Mrs. Kimathi throwing my purse over my shoulder.“Nope. I got it all darling.” She smiles. “If I ever need anything I’ll ask Aaliyah, an
Adair wasn’t kidding when he said there’s going to be a lot of paparazzi there. There’s more paparazzi than actual news journalists. Words such as cheater, new woman, money are being yelled out and someone even tried to drag me into it by calling me "Adair’s new love interest" and "homewrecker".I’m walking as quickly as I can wanting to escape into the courtroom, but lights are being flashed from every direction in my face making it harder for me to even see where I’m going. The press follows close behind, wanting a statement from me on the case, but I continue my pace ignoring their demands.Tons of teenage girls and women stand on the side lines, dressed as if they were going to a club, chanted "Alexander Adair marry me" and "Alex, I love you" which I find to be totally ridiculous. This isn’t a concert, it’s a court case. They desperately want to get close to him, but thanks to Julian and his team their forced t
I wake up to the sound of steady beeps and whispering voices. Slowly opening my eyes, Adair and a lady with a white coat stand in front of my bed, their eyes directed at me.“What’s going on?” I croak trying to prop myself up on the bed. A sharp pain shoots up my arm and I let out a cry.“No, don’t get up!” Adair exclaims helping me lay back down.My eyes wander around the white room, taking in my surroundings.I'm in the hospital.Everything starts to slowly come back to me as I remember us waiting outside on the steps for the paparrazi to be cleared out of the way, the loud noise, the sharp pain, getting shot, and passing out.“Hello Ms. Carter, I’m Dr. Jacobs. How are you feeling?” The doctor asks as she walks over to my bedside checking on my vitals.“I feel okay, but my arm hurts a bit.” I say in discomfort.“Luckily the bullet didn’t go
“I’m going to miss you so much! Take care okay.” Aaliyah snifs, engulfing me into a bear hug.“My arm! My arm!” I exclaim through squeezed breathes.“Oops sorry!” She exclaims releasing me right away.Today is finally the day that Adair, Nick, and I go to Italy. It took a lot of assuring and promising Adair that I was fine, because that man was being stubborn that I wasn’t good at all. Luckily, I also had Nick by myside telling Adair that he was overreacting.“We’ll take care of her.” Nick smiles nudging my shoulder.“See nothing to worry about.” I say to Aaliyah as I shoot Nick a smile.“Shall we get going now?” Adair states in irritation from behind us as he fixes the cuff of his blazer.“Text me when your there okay!” Aaliyah smiles and I can see Andrew jogging up to our terminal.“Mr. Adair, your private jet is
The stench of sweat and blood lingers the in the cold air of the small dimly lit room. It's stone walls remain completely bare expect for a security screen that’s all black and a black chair that rests near the screen. Another man dressed in head to toe in black stands near another steel door, talking to a peculiar looking man.“Alexander Adair welcome back!” Exclaims a small chubby man walking over to us and brining Adair in for a kiss on the cheek.Wiping the kiss off with his shoulder, Adair reaches out to shake his hand. “Leo it’s been awhile.” He says teresly. That’s Leonardo?!The monsterious image of him that swirled in my head is now erased as I take in the sweet and approachable demeanor of Leo. His rosy pink cheeks remind me of Santa Claus sand his twirled grey mustache along with his shoulder length hair doesn’t make him seem he’s in a mafia at all. If I were
As soon as we exit both rooms, the once composed Adair now lands a bone breaking punch against the wall in frustration and anger, his knuckles turning bloody and bruised.“Alex stop!” Nick cries holding him back from throwing another punch.“Let go of me!” Adair growls his eyes blazing with furry.Nick and I take a step back from Adair as he regains his composure. I’ve never seen him this angry or frustrated, and it's freaking me out. I understand how he must be feeling because I feel the same. I’m disappointed that we came all this way and found nothing and there’s other than that the man is old and he has a lady love.“Another damn dead end!” Adair breathes out in frustration ruffling his hair. The blood drips from his knuckles all the way to his wrist with some drops hitting the floor as Adair balls his hands into fists. His breathing staggers as he closes his eyes and rests his forehead agai
The next morning is a whirl wind of events.Leo called Adair to tell him that we were to go to some boutique to get our measurements taken by a tailor for the party. According to Leo, there was no way that he was going to let his favorite people wear ordinary clothes. In terms of ordinary, the boutique was no where near ordinary at all, with it's dark green walls sparkling with specks of gold foil and it's light grey marble floors shining with no inch of dust or dirt. A long corridor lightens the way with chandeliers, exposing doors that remain tightly closed. Two doors remained situated behind the tall dark grey marble desk and before we could say a word, tailors from behind the doors came bustling out with their measuring tapes and iPads. All dividng out, they each take us to seperate sides of the room and measure us from top to bottom, not missing a single thing. I’ve gotten custom made blazers and dresses for work, but this was something else.
4 years later Our baby girl is growing up so fast. Ariana Elizabeth Adair is now 8 months old and she’s the smartest and most fearless baby that I have ever seen- and she gets that from her parents.“Look at this Ari.” Zara says picking up her bow and arrow set that Alex got for her birthday last month.Ari takes a hold of the bow in her small hands and gives it a 360-degree examination before taking the plastic arrow from Zara’s hand and sticking it flat onto the red bean bag couch. Luckily there’s a sticky plastic to the end of it and not an actual arrow, saving us the destruction that would come if it were to hit into something.“That’s my girl.” Adair smiles.Sitting in his lap, I lean back into his chest, the soft fabric of his dark blue sweater giving off warmth. He kisses the top of my head and intertwines his fingers with mine as we watch the two kids play. We sit on
It feels like the very first day of school where you’re the new kid and absolutely have no idea what to expect. That’s me right now. Mixed emotions run through me with nervousness, happiness, and excitement being among the top three. What will Adair say when he sees me? What if he’s moved on already? What if he gets angry at Nick for telling me where he was? What if he left Greece early?I know my mind is running wild like it normally does, and I tell myself to calm down. Everything will be alright.Neatly trimmed colorful trees line the walkway to the hotel’s entrance. It’s fall again and I’m kind of sad that I missed my favorite seasons- spring and summer- because of being in a coma. But this is the exact same month that I met Adair for the first time, and I find it so magical that this was the month that God made me wake up in.Nick talks to the receptionist and she hands him over a swipe card to Adair's room. Two weeks have passed by and I can proudly and thankfully say that I remember almost everything, but I just don’t remember his face or his name. He comes into my dreams every night, his face still blurry and when dawn breaks, he leaves me.I search up his crazy ex fiancé’s name to find his name on the Internet, but I can’t find it anywhere. It’s as if they never knew each other. I remember how we first met and how he saved me. I remember it all, but I don’t remember him.And it’s eating me alive.I no longer have to visit the doctor anymore which I’m so glad because I couldn’t take the sight of the hospital anymore. The doctor was very impressed at how fast my brain was able to pick up on the memories, but it’s only because of the family that I have today. And it’s thanks to the crazy case.I ended up asking Tyron how he felt about my mom and he said that he was in love with her. I asked m
My mom and the other woman carefully walk towards me. My eyes brim with tears as I take in my mothers’ appearance. She looks like she lost weight, her daisy yellow blouse hanging loosely around her collar bones. Taking a hold of my hand, she kisses my palms and holds them close to her heart.“Mom.” I whisper causing her to look up in shock.“You…you remember me?” She asks wide eyed.“How can I forget you mom.” I say through sobs.I carefully get out of bed trying my best not to tug on the IV poll and I embrace her in a hug. We cry into each other until there are no more tears left. She makes me sit back on the bed and I do so without any complaints. I feel drained, but it’s nothing compared to this feeling of wanting to be with my mom.“Do you remember me?” Aaliyah whispers, her hands clutched to her chest.I try my best to remember her, and I see faint memories, but I
8 months laterTall dark trees surround me, their leaves rustling against the light breeze. I continue to run trying to find an exit, but I can’t see a way out of this suffocating dark. Rain starts to tap my head and I look up at the sky. The pitch black sky embraces the dark stormy clouds and my heart slams into my chest.I need to find a way out before the storm starts.Running, the wet gritty soil covers my naked feet as pebbles and tiny branches poke into the bottom of my feet. I ignore the pain desperately trying to find my way out calling for help. The rain slams down and thunder booms across the sky, drowning my calls for help. I run as fast as I can tears now streaming down my face. Howls echo with the thunder and I look around wide eyed hoping that there aren’t wolves.“Please can anyone help me!” I shout, the hem of my white night gown getting caught in the branch.I trip over the large branch
Adair’s Point of ViewThe next couple of hours for Sarah are critical. Thankfully the bullet missed her heart but only by a couple inches. I was able to get her to the hospital on time, and if I didn’t, according to the doctor, she could have died.I sit, broken and tired in the waiting room patiently waiting for the doctor to come out of the operating theatre. My shirt is covered in her blood and despite getting a lot of stares from people they don’t utter a word.I called everyone she knew so they can be here when she wakes up. Nick and Julian are bringing Elizabeth over right now. I sent my private jet to Andrew, Aaliyah, Cole, and Meghan so they can get here faster. When I told them about Sarah they were speechless. At first Aaliyah was mad at me, telling me that I let Anna hurt Sarah but she apologized when her anger died down. However, her words hold truth to them. If only I could have pulled the trigger earlier then Sara
“ANNA DON’T!” Elizabeth yells, but Anna ignores her cries and walks over to the darkness and emerges back out with a gun in her hand.My heartbeat quickens and sweat forms on my forehead. I watch the sleek black gun glisten in her hand and with every step she takes I see my death getting closer and closer.I suck in my breath telling myself that I won’t cry. I can’t let my mom see me in fear despite fear running in every part of me right now. I have to be strong, for the both of us.“I love you mom.” I whisper one last time.“Sarah please-” She sobs as Anna holds the phone across from me so my mom can see my death. All of a sudden a loud boom startles Marc forcing him to drop the phone on the ground and my eyes search frantically across the screen looking for my mom.“YOUR UNDER ARREST!” Yells a familiar voice and I know who it belongs to.Julian.
Adair’s Point of ViewEver since I left New York I’ve been counting down the time to reach Anna’s place. Time is slipping away and I don’t know even know if Ms. Carter will be there. My heart is telling me that she is, but my brain is telling me otherwise, and it’s driving me fucking insane.I can’t believe that this entire time Anna was playing with me. I could smell a snake a mile away, but this time a snake was right under my nose and I didn’t even know it.“She played me so well.” I growl taking a sharp turn at the lights, the empty street taunting my stupidness.I’m only five minutes away from her place and the anxiety that grows inside me is one that I’ve never experienced before. My body feels restless and my chest heaves up and down as breathing becomes difficult to do.When my sister went missing I felt like the world was torn away from me and now, kno
My eyes slowly open as I try to adjust to the dim light that hangs above me. A sharp pain shoots at the back of my head causing me to wince. My head throbs in pain and I feel like I’ve been hit in the back of a head with a metal baseball bat. My eyes travel down to my hands and I realize that both my hands and feet are tied tightly to the chair with chains.I try to break free, but it only makes it worse as the chains dig even deeper into my skin causing me to yelp in pain.I look around for help but the place is completely empty. It’s freezing cold and smells like a wet dog. A tiny window near the top of wall lets in a small stream of light and through there I can tell that it’s already night time. Where am I? I scream for help, anyone who can help me at least get these chains off me, but I go mute once I realize what happened. Everything comes back to me. It was Anna who hit me in the back of the head right when I was
