Coming out of the courtroom, I could definitely feel the effects of not getting enough sleep last night. I know I shouldn't be complaining because Adair was probably up all night, but having a court hearing and presenting facts while being minimally awake is exhausting and mentally draining.
I pull out my phone for probably the hundredth time today to check if Adair called since I had my phone on silent in court, and there's still nothing. It's turning 12pm and I'm starting to get really anxious. A million thoughts are going through my head right now like what if they didn't find anything, what if they couldn't get the footage, or what if Adair said screw it and ditched me.
Okay the last one definitely isn't going to happen.
I'm in my train of thoughts until I feel a drop of cool water hit my forehead. Looking up at the dark grey sky, it's getting ready to rain. Great the weather man said it would rain in the evening. I walk as rapidly as
Adair's Point of View"Um, is it okay if we look at the store that Nick mentioned? I mean, if you're to busy then that's fine. I don't mind doing it myself. I kind of um...um wanted to get into the...action." She says carefully.I would have never imagined Ms. Carter to say she wanted to get into the "action." Amused by her daredevil side, I burst out laughing. Her beautiful amber eyes stare at me waiting for my response, and I can't help but think about her running into the shop with a gun and demanding to know who bought the gloves. It's not like I can't see her doing that, because I can. She has a fierce demeanor to her and she definitely isn't the one to back down. Her face turns a shade of red as she attempts to hide her face away from me. Feelings of guilt surface inside of me as I watch her look away, my laughter dying out immediately. I think I made her feel embarrassed, and that is something I would never want her to feel. Only if she k
Adair’s Point of ViewAnna has been calling and texting me nonstop since yesterday to discuss about the wedding venue and it's driving me crazy. I’ve been avoiding her calls, because quite frankly right now I could care less. Getting up from my bed I dial Miller numbers. Yesterday was mayhem at the office, and I had no time to make the call.Simon was hesitant to give Miller's phone number to me at first due to “privacy reasons," but after giving him a full load of threats if he didn't oblige with my orders, he gave it within two seconds flat. Even though Simon said he talked to Miller two days ago about returning early, I couldn’t wait that long.“Okay Miller lets hear what you have to say.” I say to myself dialing in his number.A couple of rings go by and it goes straight to his answering machine.“Damn it pick up the damn phone.” I growl dialing him back again.Pacing back
The headline will make its way on the news at exactly 3pm today, the breaking news time, and will continue to make headlines throughout this week. Since I got into work I have kept my television on not wanting to miss even a second of the Adairs' divorce announcement. I've been having difficulty concentrating on my cases today because I’m kind of excited for this case to go public. Once its public, this means we can start progressing with everything.“Sarah, do you want me to get you popcorn?” Aaliyah jokes highlighting facts for another case.“Ha ha very funny.” I say sarcastically as I type away on my laptop.“This is exciting isn’t it? I mean we have had many cases being mentioned on the news before, but just the nature of this case makes it more…devious” She laughs evilly.“Devious?! Damn Aaliyah your word choice is perfect.” I laugh rolling my eyes at her.“Thank you very
Stuffing my laptop into my purse I head out for the day.“Sarah, you have to tell me what Mr. Adair said!” Aaliyah exclaims bouncing to my side as we make our way to the elevator. There wasn’t anything special that was said other than the news and finding those transactions which the latter I can’t tell Aaliyah about. Getting into the empty elevator, I retell Aaliyah about our conversation, leaving out Greg and the transactions.“What?!” She exclaims, her eyes widening to a point that I think they might fall out of her sockets. “Your getting bodyguards?! WOW! No fair. I want some!” She whines. She actually does have bodyguard thanks to Adair but she just doesn’t know it nor can she find out. Or maybe…“Don’t worry he said you’ll get some too.” I smile shoving my hand into the pocket of my coat.I mean I’m not lying it is true that she has s
Adair’s Point of ViewBy the time I make it back home it's 10:00pm and all I want to do is sleep. Announcing our divorce today definitely caught the attention of a lot of people. I’ve been bombarded with phone calls all day that I had to turn my phone off, get Dorias to turn her phone off, and get my PA to turn his phone off, because when I didn’t pick up people would start calling them and it was just getting fucken ridiculous. It’s a damn divorce why do people even care.Stripping off my clothes I get into the shower letting the hot water relax my tensed body. I'm only allowed a couple minutes of relaxation before the doorbell rings.Who the hell can that be at this time.“Ugh.” I groan in anger. All I want is just to take a fucken hot shower and go to sleep.Getting out of the shower, I wrap a towel around my waist having no time to wipe myself dry as I take a lo
Mr. Rollins asked me if I wanted to take the day off today, and without a second thought I said yes. Apparently, Adair had called him and told him how my smashed windows was related to the case and that he’ll be setting up new and top notch security around me at all times. From what he said last night I think I’ll be getting elite bodyguards or ones that I can probably see this time.I’m pretty sure that Adair told Mr. Rollins to give me the day off, and I’m thankful because I really didn’t want to leave my mom alone today.I could have asked Mr. Rollins myself but me being a workaholic, I would never take a sick day unless I’m actually sick.Instead of working from home like I usually do on my sick days, I decide that I really need a breather from all these cases. It’s a beautiful day outside and I decide to take my mom to the park for a picnic.“Remember when you would go down the slides and you wou
As soon as we exit out of the elevator, there stand two large muscular men on opposite sides of our door. Dressed in big black heavy clothes, a vest, and have an ear piece going down the side of their neck, I notice that they also carry a gun in the holster that rests on their waist. They look exactly like the three guys we saw in the lobby before coming up here.My mom turns her head towards me with a look of curiosity written all over her face, and I know why their here. There the bodyguards that Adair hired for us.Walking to the front door in silence we stand in front of the tall men and I nod at both of them to say hi. They nod back and one of them gives me a small smile.I take this opportunity to introduce myself and my mom so we can be familiar with each other and also so they don’t mistaken us for the wrong people.“I’m Sarah Carter, and this is my mom Elizabeth Carter. Thank you for being here.” I sm
Before leaving, Adair briefed me about my bodyguards. I will always have two in front of my door, three downstairs in the lobby, one to drive me around everywhere, and a couple at work. When ever my mom would need to go out, Andrew or Cole will accompany her and someone will replace them in front of my door. He gave me the phone numbers of all the body guards and I made sure to save them according to their position aside from Andrew and Cole.I’ll remember their names. When I asked him what happened to the old guards, he said there was a lot of yelling, threatening, and firing involved but more of the threatening part.My mom and I spend the rest of the evening watching a movie. As the movie plays, I'm having trouble concentrating, because I’m itching to call my aunt and ask her about this whole vacation thing. I honestly don’t know how long this whole case will run, but I can at least ask her to have my mom over for at least two months.
