Chapter 49: Shadows of the Past

Lyra's POV

The vortex of magic dissipates, leaving me gasping on my knees in a chamber that defies description. Crystalline walls pulse with living light, and the air itself seems to shimmer with power. But it's the figure standing before me that truly steals my breath away.

The mysterious man who's haunted my dreams and waking hours stands revealed at last. His features are a perfect blend of Fae etherealness and wolfish intensity, achingly familiar in a way that makes my heart ache.

"Hello, little wolf," he says, his voice resonating with ancient power. "Or should I say... daughter?"

The world tilts on its axis. "What?" I breathe, struggling to process this revelation.

He smiles, but it doesn't reach his eyes. "It's a long and complicated story, one we don't have time for right now. Suffice it to say, the blood that flows through your veins – and Elara's – is far more complex than you could have imagined."

Before I can demand more answers, a bone-chilling howl cuts through the air.
