Chapter 58

Augustus's POV

She looked beautiful as always, I could not wrap my head around just how lucky I had gotten in this lifetime. Olivia was young, and ready to give me her life. The only downside was I had only three years, three years to convince her that this was where she belonged.

Occasionally, the lines of the agreement that we have made blurred in the face of our emotions, but I couldn't get the idea of her leaving soon from the back of my mind.

Suddenly, my phone rang, shattering the silence in my office. I had wanted to get some quiet time here, I had not been expecting any call since it was customary to let me have these two weeks for just myself and my bride.

“Hello” I said after picking since it was Alexander that was calling.

“My king, Lucia is back. She has demanded to see the Queen” Alexander said, his voice sounding tensed over the phone.

“And?” I asked, knowing that there were some other things attached to it. If it had been that easy, Alexander would have

Chapter 59 Olivia's POV “What? You can't be serious, right?” I asked Augustus. I had come here to talk to him about the agreement to leave after three years, but now, he was saying that I had to fight to defend the same position that I never asked for in the first place. It was unbelievable. “You don't have to worry about anything, all you have to learn is the basics, and then we rely on your natural ace power to win” Augustus explained. “Why do I have to fight her? She is obviously not the queen as I have been crowned, why do I have to do all this again?” I asked him, failing to see the reason behind this. “Lucia was my legal mistress. Everyone knew and respected her for that, aside that, she had earned their love with how bravely she has fought beside me all these years. Everyone expected that I would upgrade her status to becoming my wife so that she would be the queen” he explained, but I wasn't understanding anything. I knew Lucia if she was back, she was here to take t

Chapter 60 Olivia's POV I needed to wait for the right time to make my move. I looked around to see what the possible escape would be, but there was none. The fences were built so high, that scaling over it meant dropping to your death. I quickly dissuaded the thoughts from my mind and started planning on doing something else. One thing I was sure of was that, I had to leave, and there was no me winning this battle against Lucia. I wondered why Augustus had not been the one to face the challenge. He is stronger, and would have not batted an eyelid. We didn't speak much for the rest of the day, even though it was supposed to be a honeymoon, the coldness that settled in between us was one that had hard rock ice in it. An ice so hard that it would be disastrous to break with just mere words. That night, when I slept, I had nightmares that made me jerk from sleep several times. I had to get up and take a cold bath before I could finally sleep just before dawn. I didn't have any ni

Chapter 61 Olivia's POV My two days had expired but even then, I already knew what my answer would be before I slept that night. The past two days have been filled with a lot of silence and animosity between Augustus and me. I had a strong feeling that he was trying to make me see reasons with him, but I didn't even have a doubt. I was going to do it, not just for me. I was going to do it for the Lycan Throne, the women, and kids at the hospital, the veterans of war that had now been forgotten and finally, Elana. Even my parents didn't make it to the list because I still didn't understand how things went down with them in the picture. “You need to take it easy before you break that pretty skull of yours” Augustus said and I jumped. I thought that I was alone and enjoyed the gift of solitude. He didn't stop until he was holding me in his arms from behind. “I didn't hear you come in” I said, not knowing what else to say. “That's because you were lost in thoughts. You know, yo

Chapter 62 Olivia's POV I was up and early the next day. We had only one more week left, and I had spent the last twenty-four hours getting tossed around the house and sheets. I was exhausted too and had a slight headache, but I knew that I had to do this, or I risked facing a consequence that was far worse than this. “You seem pumped. This is a good sign” Augustus said when I stepped out to the open field that I had merely admired from afar for the past few days. “Not so pumped. I have a headache. It's killing me. But, I can't afford to lose more time than I have lost if I would rather not end up with no head to even feel an ache with” I said and he laughed. “You are not going to be able to do much with a headache. Let me get you some medicine from inside. In the meantime, you can start training with that carved pumpkin there” he said and pointed to the front, where there was a carved pumpkin patch on a stick. “You have medicine here?” I asked him, shocked, since it was in t

Chapter 63Olivia's POV “I am so tired!” I exclaimed, exhausted and collapsing on the grass that I have now passed through every emotion that there is on. “You are?” Augustus asked, a mocking laughter, playing on his lips as his eyes narrowed at me. “Augustus, I don't think you have anything to gloat about. You are the Lycan king and have had so many years of battle experience. I am the princess/servant girl who has only scrubbed dishes before I me...”“Fine, fine! You don't have to go that low. I won't make fun of you anymore” he finally said, raising his hands slightly above his head. The action made him look cute to me, but I knew there had been nothing cute about the man who was screaming orders at me barely ten minutes ago. At that moment, he had been different. I felt the true power of the Lycan king and how strong it was when it came to obeying the king's will. “I'm scared. The wait is longer than I imagined, and it gets scarier as the day draws near. Only two days till it

Chapter 64Olivia's POV “What do you mean by I am not going to be there?” I asked, refusing to believe that after all Augustus had said to me to get me ready for the duel, he was now excluding me from the new plan. “You are not going with me to battle. You will stay in the palace and work with the clinic” he said in his usual voice that just forces you to not challenge him, but today was not one of those days for him. “I am. I am the Queen and the enemy has asked that I be there. I want to be there, Augustus and you will not dare take this away from me” I challenged him, he didn't seem pleased, and I could see the fury blazing in his eyes. “Are you talking back at me, Olivia?” He asked, his voice icy cold and the swirl in his eyes was now more chaotic than I have ever seen it. I didn't care, he was going to let me do what I wanted this time around and stop trying to protect me as if I were a child who could not handle herself. “Augustus, I didn't know you as the Lycan king until

Chapter 65Augustus's POV I wasn't scared or even worried. Lucia was probably the weakest opponent that I would have to face. What I was not comfortable with was her dictating to me how the war would be fought. I was going to lead her on, even though Alexander had brought a brilliant idea, I wouldn't go his way all through. The door opened behind me and even before turning, I knew that it was Olivia who had come. She looked shocked and I immediately knew that something was wrong. I tried to pierce through her head and mind, but she has securely locked me out. "How long have you known Alexander for?" She asked me, throwing me off guard because that had not even been on the list of questions that I wanted to ask her. Her eyes were shaky and her lips taut, and emotionless. "He has been with me since the beginning of time. He has been my loyal beta. Why do you ask?" I said to her and pointed to the chair in our bedroom. "I just wanted to know. He seems a bit off now" she said and I

Chapter 66Olivia's POV We made our way to the kingdom. The last few hours have been one that made me forget about every worry I have ever had. Now, on the way to the kingdom to get ready for battle, my mind was in shreds and I had a hard time thinking about anything else but getting killed or even worse, Augustus getting hurt. "I suggest you go with the men and handle the front lines. I will be at the southside with some of the men while Olivia will be behind with the rest of the men. I want her where I can see her like we rightly agreed, just that I only want you in the front because that is where you will be most effective for me" I heard Augustus telling Alexander. "Bu...but, your majesty, we agreed that I would be with the queen while you handle the front line since that would make the whole battle a breeze for us" he countered Augustus. I could hear the disappointment in his voice. "That is what I have decided. Everything else stays the same" Augustus said and turned to me,

They were both shivering and looked like they had not expected this to happen even though I wondered why. Nile had given them up so easily, and I knew they would have noticed that. “We don't know, we swear. We won't be foolish to lie to you” Alpha Brandon responded, but I knew immediately that he was lying. I slapped him squarely across the face, pissed off that he thought I was someone he could mess around with.“Oh please, let my poor husband go. Nile lied to you. We did go to him, but he refused to let her come with us, we wanted to contact you, but we didn't want you to think that we had anything to do with it” the Luna said as the tears rolled down her eyes, but I didn't care. They were lying and everyone in this room knew it. I pulled out a dagger from my waist band and brandished it in front of the two old peop

Augustus had been so heartbroken with the whole thing. I was so confused. A lot was not making sense to me right now. “Don't look so surprised. You didn't think I would be that cheap to kill, did you?” He asked, his teeth glistening in the hot afternoon sun. I was so angry, each movement of his aggravating me. “How…how could you do this to him?” I asked, my emotions pouring into every word I said. “Do this to whom? The same man who threw me in jail because of you? I have been with that sick bastard for several lifetimes and each time, he has discarded me because of some woman he kept hoping would be you” he said, the anger evident in his voice as I had never heard him use that tone before. He had injected me with something that immediately made me feel sleepy. Now, opening my eyes I was shocked to find myself in a place that I knew too much. It was my former pack, a place that I had run away from, disgraced and hurt. The one place that I never wanted to go back to. How had this happened? I asked myself. “Don't you dare call him that!” I heard my fake mother's voice and realized that these people were not my friends, they didn't love me. They are my enemies. I had to start seeing them in that light. “Well, I won't. To think that I forgot and bestowed such honor on the two of you” I snapped at him and Alpha Brandon slapped me. I felt the metallic taste of blood in my mouth and spat out a mouthful of blood. “You are still arrogant? After you had us thrown ou

  • For Every Lifetime   All For Nothing

Chapter 101Augustus's POV I crawled my way up the hill, making sure that none of my movements made more sounds than a whisper. The plan had to work, I needed to be sure that Elana had not been right about her suspicion, I didn't know what I would do to Nile if I found out that he had anything to do with the disappearance of my wife. Wife. The word sounded in my eyes. Olivia wasn't just my mate bound to me by the moon goddess, she was also my wife, bound to me by the laws of the kingdom in front of everyone we ruled over. It was different now, and I realized that I could not let her leave me. No matter how great I thought her being away for now, I knew her place was right beside me. Even all those lifetimes ago, she had captured my heart in ways that I didn't think was possible and every time I had to go back to Ariel, all that had consumed my mind at the end of the day was the explosive time I had with the other woman. The same man I now had a chance to be with after 999 lifetime

Chapter 100Elana's POV I could have sworn that Olivia was back in the palace. It was only when I got to Augustus's office that I realized that it was his guest that had the same scent with Olivia. It wasn't entirely hers, it was mixed with his also, meaning that this man must have been in the same place with Olivia within the last twenty-four hours. “My king, I would like us to speak privately” I said after I told him that I could scent Olivia. “Give me a few minutes” he said, and I went out to wait for him to finish with his guest. One that I suddenly didn't trust anymore. I knew that Augustus wasn't one to condone any form of evil, it was shocking that he was there drinking with a man that should clearly not be trusted. I had barely finished my train of thoughts when the door opened and Augustus came out with the strange man. They shook hands and the man gave me a respectful bow before leaving, I tried my best to smile, but I knew that I probably looked ridiculous. As soon as

Chapter 99Augustus's POV Even though it had been a week since Olivia disappeared from my life, the pain only increased with every passing second. I thought I knew where she had gone, she mentioned going to the human settlement but, I have combed every town and city in the last week and not even one person had seen her. "Your majesty” I heard Elana's quiet voice interrupting my thoughts, I had no desire to see or speak to anyone. "Elana" I said quietly, not even bothering to face her. “She reached out to me. I don't know, but she is in some sort of danger. I was cut off before I could get anything else” she said, and I immediately turned, my ears ready to listen to anything else that would point us in the right direction. “Why didn't she reach out to me?” I asked, a stab of jealousy piercing my heart. “I'm sure she only reached out to me because our connection is more shared. Technically, I am her guardian wolf.” She explained and I nodded my head. “What did you see? What did s

The food immediately lost its taste and turned to sand in my mouth. I was devastated and the only thing I wanted to do now was to run. The one thing I couldn't afford to do right now. “I…I… Am not Olivia or whatever you say her name is” I managed to say, my voice sounding alien even to me. He laughed, loudly, then got up and went to the mini bar behind his chair to pull out a bottle of raw alcohol. “You see, I had my doubts when I saw you. King Augustus has been on my radar for a while and I kept racking my brain on how to get him to notice me. When I saw you, I had my doubts but today, after seeing the way you have cleaned up nicely, I know without a doubt that you are queen Olivia of the Lycan Kingdom” he said, his voice increasing in pitch and tempo with every word. “I am not her. Chapter 97Olivia's POV The next time I gained consciousness, I was in a different room. My hands were no longer bound and the room had more ventilation than the previous one that I had been in. I struggled to get up, my body was weak from lack of food and the pregnancy that was tearing my insides with the need for food. Just then, there was a rustling of keys at the door and I quickly laid back down, pretending to be asleep. A middle-aged woman made her way into the room, she didn't even bother to look at me before setting the plate roughly on the floor, some of its contents spilling out of the plate. “I know you are awake, I saw you when you were running back to lie down on your bed. You better wake up and eat, the Alpha would soon send for you” she said and left the room before I could get a word out. Her words had stunned me, I laid there for some time before the rumbling of my stomach pushed me from the bed. I made my way to the plate, each step making me dizzier than I was.

My life felt empty, and I wished that I had not said anything to her about Ariel, instead, I had just told her the truth. “Your Majesty, you sent for me?” Elana said, I had not let her have a moment of rest since yesterday, she had done all she could to link with Olivia, but she was too far, beyond our reach. “Have you had any luck yet?” I asked, even though I already knew what the answer would be. “Not yet your majesty” she said and even though I already knew what the answer would be, my heart broke into a thousand pieces for the umpteenth time that day. “Fine.” I said grumpi
