The group followed Havoc into the ruins of Bael Karrine, despite much of it being reclaimed by nature anyone could tell it was once a large city old buildings lined them on either side, even the road was still very much intact. The architecture was unlike any other in the kingdom of Albrael.
"What exactly happened here?" While they were able to get a small glimpse of the ruins former glory one thing stood out among all else. There had been a siege, and a rather large one by looks of it. Walls that were not covered in growth had scorch marks burned into them, large boulders from siege engines littered the area, some of the buildings had large holes in the walls with the resting boulder still inside.
"People always fear what they don't know, or are jealous of." Havoc answered, as he continued forward without looking back.
"Huh?""This was a city that had both wealth and power. It allowed all races to live and prosper together without prejudice. Other kingdoms aCassandra's mind began racing. 'Is someone attacking my territory? No.. If that was the case they would leave their pawns in the city to cause trouble, not move away. I'm not a terrible leader, even I can confidently say that, so It's not some sort of mass migration. With so many renowned people here It's hard to say which one could be the could be the problem. Although there is one in particular who stands out among the rest.'Cassandra's eyes began sweeping across the faces of all the people in the garden.!!!Her eyes went wide when she found him. Halbert was sitting at a table with a huge smile on his face like he just made the find of the century, the alarming part was Christopher sitting across from him with the smile of a used car salesman who just sold the junker that will make it one hundred meters before breaking down. A chill ran down her spine. She couldn't shake the feeling what she was seeing had something to do with everyone gathering to the north, mo
The night before the party"John, I have a favor to ask of you.""I'm alive to this day because of your actions on multiple occasions. You don't have to ask a favor, you could command me and I would do it.""I've never been one for ordering people around." Christopher shrugged with a smile. "I'm going to show you a passage that will exit into the city, tomorrow morning I want you to sneak Sarah and the others out through it. After you exit make sure as many people see Sarah as possible, and cut through the noble and rich quarters. There should be someone who can recognize either Garrett or Sarah there. Then I want you to the forest here, There will be a group of people waiting for your arrival, Daniel will be one of them." Chris said pointing at the map on the table."Daniel? Daniel Masters?""The one and the same.""HAHA It's good to hear he's still alive. Are you going to be coming with us?""Nope I'm going to be doing my patriotic duty." Chr
Havoc lift his head looking at the enraged Derek."Have you forgot who our enemy is? She is a Princess of the Empire. You know something has been eating at me for a some time now. The old Havoc would have removed her body parts and sent it to the emperor." A large crowd began to form around them as they heard the commotion. "Now a lot of people here never got to meet the real Havoc, but anyone who knew him I'm sure would agree with me."Derek point his finger at Havoc. "You are not the real Havoc."Havoc simply looked to Derek, his face of course displaying no emotions. He quietly rose to his feet and looked around."Whether I deny it, admit it, or not, how could anyone here actually know If I am Havoc? Even If I were to reveal my face no one would know except very few.""Oh I bet you're banking on that. Look here fake, If it's as simple as wearing a mask, how about I kill you, your new pet and take it for myself."Havoc sighed looking up at the sky above. No o
The morning following after Halbert's big party, he was being shaken awake by a soldier."Five more minutes." He mumbled but the soldier persistently kept shaking him, finally he woke up with his face down in a mud puddle and Jared was tied to a tree upside down with a bunch of obscenities written on him with the image of a big fat dick on his forehead. "What in all the hells happened? My head is splitting open.""HAHA well you definitely drank your share and then you fell and bumped your head." The ever cheerful and completely awake Alexis laughed heartily."Why the hell was I left face down in a mud puddle!?" Halbert crawled to his feet and began trying his best to clean up. "By the gods will our army even be able to move today?" He grumbled. After taking a moment to wash off his face he looked around. To his astonishment the army was already on it's feet and preparing to move out. They were professional soldiers deep down."Cheer up my prince! Today we get t
It had already been over an hour since Halbert and his army had entered the forest, and he was already at his wits end. The deeper they went the fog just got thicker and thicker. They could barely see ten feet in front of them"Just how the hell are we supposed to find a small hand full of people in the middle of this gods forsaken forest. I would say let's go back but we would probably just get our own men separated and lost." Halbert grumbled trying to squint through the fog and make out any kind of details. Hell he was barely able to dodge the tree branches swinging his way."Haaaalt!" A soldier called out from the front of their column."Now what the hell is it?" Halbert cried out exasperated.Jared moved forward as a soldier rode up to him on their horse to pass along any necessary information."What!? Are you serious right now.""C-Completely serious! At first I thought it was some sort of trick, but we had one of her guards look and he confirme
The forest rocked from the explosion. Hundreds of cries were drowned out by the blast as nails, chunks of metal, and glass shot out in every direction, ripping through flesh, bark, and pieces were even lodged into stones.Jared laid on his back he couldn't hear anything apart from a constant ringing in his ears. Everything was black. 'I can't see... Am I dead?' Jared tried lifting himself up unsuccessfully, although he did manage to raise an arm. 'By the gods it hurts, it really hurts!' Although successful in lifting his arm it felt as if every inch of it screamed at him for his efforts. The pain was so unbearable he felt as if he was going to lose consciousness again. As the ringing began to subside just a little, Jared was able to make out some sounds although nothing Identifiable."rd...""Jred""JARED!" A voice screamed out. ' I can finally hear again.' Even being capable of hearing again he half wished his ears would have stayed silent for just a li
'Seeing your life flash before your eyes? Thinking of your family? The love of your life back home? Children? Well shit I don't have any children. None of those things seems to be happening.' The only thing currently happening for Jared was he felt so terrified he could hardly breathe. It felt as if some invisible force had a grip on his lungs."I'm sorry!" The soldier truly had considered Jared a friend and felt guilty for abandoning him, but it wasn't just some soldier or peasant coming straight at them. It was Havoc! The man dropped Jared and began running away as fast as his legs would carry them.'Can't really blame him, I would have ran sooner than this.' Jared flopped backwards after he was dropped. Snap. His friend's head explode as if it had been held out in front of a truck going one hundred miles per hour.Jared looked back forward. Havoc was now standing in front of him with his sword hovering over him."Over your dead body." Havoc drove the s
"Diii-" The battle cry was cut off as a blade dug deep into the man's neck severing his head. Havoc did not take a moment to pause though and continued to his next foe kicking him in the chest Launching him backwards, before he hit the ground Havoc flicked his wrist launching the spare sword into the man's heart. Swiftly side stepping a blade swung down on him, Havoc grabbed the soldier's forearm and drove his sword into the man holding it with a reverse grip. As the soldier dropped his own sword Havoc snatched it out of the air."Have to admit, I'm not so used to this kind of workout anymore.""Yea, you seem to be slowing down. It's probably our own fault though." Havoc and Thomas pushed fairly far ahead of their own forces and were now surrounded on all sides facing a constant assault."Suppose you are right, but their focus is almost completely on us. Gods can only imagine the damage that is being inflicted on them from behind.""Hey isn't your sword m
"They used siege magic on the rear line?" Alexis asked with a furrowed brow. "Why would they expend so much magic on the rear line?" To Alexis this didn't make any sense. If they were using it as an opener to an attack from the rear, it would definitely be justifiable. Have your men rush in taking advantage of the destroyed lines and chaos. But using siege magic alone and backing off, would be like someone taking a shotgun to kill a spider inside their own house. Beyond overkill. If they had struck the center of their lines, their commanders, or even their supply train, Alexis could understand the expenditure. Most magic users could fling spells they specialized in for a majority of the day. But siege magic? The average mage could use it four times in one day, but be severely weakened for the next couple of days. Sure they could use siege magic again the next day, but each day without a proper recovery time the power of the attack would be cut in half. "Well sir it seems the rear l
Inside Helenfel. "Right here." Cassandra pointed at a section of her map sprawled out on the table. "This will be the perfect place." Andrea walked around the table to stand next to Cassandra looking down on the map. "Hmmm good call. When they emerge here they'll be in a bottleneck." "That's not all. They'll be coming around a corner too. They wont be able to see our army waiting for them until it's too late. We'll also have archers along the cliff tops. that can shoot down on them." "Why not have our archers continue firing down on them the entire stretch? That's miles of cliff ledge we could use to thin them out." Garrett asked retracing the path on the Albrael army was taking. "Because we don't want to give away our archers. The reason we've barely had our men harass them the past day was leading up to this moment. Most of all we don't want them to double back, leaving the kill zone we've set up." "Isn't there a chance they sent men to the top of the cliffs too though?" "We
Multiple days had passed in the City Of Darkness following the surrender/purge of any still resisting dissidents. And life had begun returning to normal little by little after the bodies were removed from the streets. Havoc's army had upheld their orders. Those who surrendered were allowed to return home without any recourse for fighting against their new host. Neither the members of The Black Guard, nor their militia counter parts caused any unnecessary damage, nor did they loot and pillage the city. Frankly apart from the angered nobles who's homes had been bombarded during the siege, the city was peaceful and upbeat. The stalls were open, any artisans were back to their crafts. The children ran and played in the now cleaned streets that had been soaked in blood not long ago. Guards were posted on every wall and street corner. Christopher and the other leaders involved weren't fools. Though they had been merciful, eventually there would be some who would try fighting back. They e
Just a little earlier"This is big! This is really big!" Brisia grinned ear to ear as she paced back and forth hardly able to contain her excitement. Her little walk even leading her up the walls and onto the ceiling dancing, and skipping, somehow defying gravity."Shit! Shit Shit!" Alesia growled through grit teeth. "I knew something was coming, but even I never imagined this!" Alesia's current mood was about as close to polar opposite of Brisia's as it could get. 'This is the last thing we need currently! If they find out, especially in the middle of this war, we're seriously fucked! Like fucked on the level I was when all the other gods betrayed me and had me cast from the heavens! Perhaps even more fucked!'"I still can't believe it! I mean I suppose when you look at his track record it would make sense, but holy shit!" Brisia exclaimed. "Not just immortal but he's turning into a god.""I know... More so a god of death." Alesia groaned. The completed 'tattoo' pretty much confirme
Thunk.... Thunk..."Riggy... Any day now..""Y-You d-don't rush perfection!" Mortis groaned as his nerves were being grated against by a rather pushy spirit. "E-Elise if you think you can do better, by all means t-take over!" He snapped back.Thunk! Thunk!"Well look Riggy.. I don't mean to be pushy... BUT PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO FUCKING KILL US!" Elise roared flapping her arms up and down like they were wings.Fwee! As though on cue an arrow zipped between their faces, mere millimeters from giving Mortis a nose piercing he didn't wish for....."S-See not that bad.." He stood his ground glaring back at Elise who could only return his gaze with wild eyed disbelief.Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Thunk!"That's because there's a wall of shields protecting you and your wrinkled ass!"Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Thunk! Sure enough the members of The Black Guard had formed a wall of shields covering the pair as Mortis went to work claiming he had the means to bring down their gat
Christopher walked to the giant hole in the wall he had created when trying to incinerate Markous looking out over the city breathing a heavy sigh, hanging his head low and shaking it. "What's wrong? At this rate the city is as good as yours? Shouldn't you be happy?" Brisia asked walking up the wall before hanging upside down looking out of the hole too. "See your people are already working on the third gate. Isn't this what you wished for?" "I'll admit.. I wasn't expecting to get that old bastard's approval, but this didn't pan out as I had hoped." He shrugged watching balls of fire rain down upon the noble district from the trebuchets outside the city. "Sooo you didn't want the city?" "Pftt I could give two shits less about the city. I wanted the power that dwelled down here. On that note I suppose you could say this was a success. But by the gods the more I was stuck in the presence of that asshole, the more I want to feed his head to a thousand small animals. Just gotta hope th
"HAHAHA JUSTICE SHALL BE DELIVERED!" Vale cried out as though she were a poor soul who had been denied justice by the courts for far too long.BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!The ground erupted all around both the twins and the behemoth of a Vampire. The girls quickly turned their backs to one another taken by surprise, readying themselves as best they could considering their injuries. Their eyes caught a glimpse of a creature emerging from the earth, and it was almost instant. The pair blinked and by the time their eyes opened the massive beings were already hovering well above their heads."You've got to be shitting me." Lala mumbled."If she could do this, It would've been nice of her to have done something sooner." Laura huffed her arm dangling limp by her side.Though still on edge the twins felt they could finally breathe a sigh of relief. The pair took several steps back returning behind their friendly lines. While the Vampire they had been battling constantly had a very differe
RAAAWR! A roar ripped through the caverns as the ground beneath their feet began to shake violently. Many people from both sides of the battle looked around trying to find what kind of ferocious beast could emit such a blood curdling sound. "I haven't heard a roar like that in thousands of years." "I've never heard that kind ever!" Their eyes scanned the surroundings. Looking side to side, up around the cavern ceiling, only to find nothing. The monstrous sound was far to loud for anyone to mistakenly assume they had just imagined it. The rumbling earth began shaking harder and harder although you couldn't physically see any movement, the people could feel the movements underneath their feet from whatever was coming, like a slithering serpent snaking it's way through the grass. It felt as though the very earth beneath their feet may collapse at any moment. If anyone in the vicinity were to claim the gods were angered and unleashing their fury on the city, many wouldn't doubt the w
This day and age when someone says an army they think professional soldiers, fighting and killing is their bread and butter, it's what they train for, it's what they're paid for. Their job consists of nothing besides honing those skills. Training and searching for a way to improve upon the ability to kill, to take the life of another human being. But there's times where an army consists of ordinary people, every day people. Bakers, smiths, teachers, sometimes even the students, people you who have never seen combat, mix these people in with some trained soldiers who're willing to advise and educate these people, and at times these armies can be just as dangerous as the professional ones. When you have a reason to fight, whether it's for a better life, to protect someone, to make a name, for your country, even if for a moment it places you at odds with it, you can become a force that's mighty. With no identifying uniform, the enemy will never know when they're about to strike. A man,
