Chapter 118

PRECIOUS

After I checked the fruits in the fridge, I grabbed a tray and piled it up with assorted fruits, two bunches of banana, eight apples, strawberries and raspberries. I placed the tray on the kitchen counter before I went over to the gas burner and boiled water for tea.

"Gladys, get me that milk and Milo tin on the top side of the cupboard," I shouted as I watched the water boil. I went to the sink and a maid who was washing the dishes excused herself to give me space to do my business.

After washing three cups and rinsing them I went back to my kettle to find the water boiling. Gladys had kept the things I requested on the counter so I made them for us. I placed the three cups on the tray but seeing they were likely going to be uncomfortable there, I took them out.

"Get me another tray Gladys," I instructed.

She bowed. "Yes, ma'am."

"I won't repeat it again. Address me by my name," i rolled my eyes and she looked her eyes down and bowed her head again.
