Chapter 53 - Conflict

The entire witches began to draw back. If they can’t be safe in their hallowed ground, where then can they be safe? Out there are the enraged ancient vampires whom they never knew existed seeking to take their life on account of Kora.

Bonnie’s body was lifted above the ground. Her body was still enveloped with thick dark smoke and flashes of lightning.

Lucas sprang back to his feet. In a quick move to take a step toward Bonnie’s body, his father intercepted him from behind. He had his arms tightly around his son’s lower abdomen. “I do not want to lose you.”

A sob escaped Lucas’ lips. “She can’t just die.” Another sob escaped his lips once more with tears rolling down his cheek.

The witches began to mumble and question their faith in the hallowed ground. The majority of them want to leave why a quite number opposed that it’s not a good idea.

“We rather die in this sacred ground than in the hands of filthy vampires,” they said.
