Giveon ~ let me go✨✨

Max leaves the room, I stay at the balcony enjoying the view and cold breeze. Andrei comes to meet me with a glass full of cognac. I nod at him as I take it from him. The substance burns deep in my throat, the moment it hits. It has been my only friend since she left. Just a few shots and I enter my world of oblivion but I can't afford to do that here. I might be getting married to the Italian mafia queen but till we tie the knots and the rings are resting on our fingers.... I'm still a stranger and I don't want to get too comfortable.

I'm reminded of my unfinished work as Andrei walks back in with a laptop in his hand. I take off my suit and tie for him to take and I collect the laptop. I sit on the sofa chair positioned at the corner of the balcony. Turn on the laptop and continue with my previous work. Yesterday's shipments from India have successfully landed and have been taken to the warehouse but something is not right. My eyebrow furrows at the screen at th

Justin Bieber ~ Come Around Me. Her green eyes sparkle with a glint of amusement as she stares at me. The numbing pain in my arm has completely vanished and I'm able to move it again. She pulls her robe over to her shoulder properly before strutting over to where I stood. My eyes follow her every move. So feline, the way she strides like the world stops just for her to walk. Maybe it's my mind or she's walking in slow motion but when she gets to my side she bends to pick a few pebbles off the ground and starts skipping them over the lake. She eyes me from the side. "What do you think, Mr. Dimitri?"A daunting smirk plays on my lips. Her voice is soft and tender despite the way she tries to make it sound all tough and gruff. Her body shivers as the wind blows once again. Reflexively I take my coat from my shoulder and drape it over her shoulders. She looks down, her hair falls over her shoulder. One would think her body won't be able to turn any more pink than it is already but it doe

I HATE federico. "Despiseee" should be the word. He made me dislike Thursday mornings, he's responsible for the glaring scowl on my face as I dress myself up. Buttoning up the sky blue Jean top to my chest, leaving a few button loose. It's always hot in the ranch and breathing is important. Silently, praying Federico gets into a little accident and won't be able to make it to the meeting. He leads one of our major sub gangs in the United States and he's the most infuriating, annoying, disgusting, sick and deranged being I've ever met but his name is among the names of those I'm not allowed to get rid of. Apparently he holds a huge share in the organization. A sexist who is low on love and sex, That's what he is.Grunts of frustration leave my mouth. My auburn curls are beautiful but when it comes to cooperating..... They fail me. It just won't settle for a messy bun and Thursday is not the day for "Classy Davi" as my aunty Marie would tease. Today is for "Rancher Davi" and she's alway

The glaring hot sun burns through my shirt and torches my skin. I pull my hat over to my head shielding my face from the scalding sun. Tiana adjusts the face cap on her head as we begin to walk into the ranch cafeteria. A nice setting for the workers to get their meals. Every step I take, the chains on my cowboy boots would cling, notifying people of my arrival. We take our seats on the empty stools. "Principessa del mattino, hai dormito bene? "Barney the ranch chef chimes as he walks out from the kitchen to greet us. I smile brightly at him. Flour and butter decorate his apron and his mustache. Tiana giggle at the sight. "Buongiorno barney, la mia notte è stata buona" I replied sweetly. Tiana salutes at him. He rubs his eyes with his flour coated palm and regrets it immediately. "Shit!" Hurriedly, he tries to rub the flour out of his eyes with his lower hand but fails. Tiana and I burst out laughing and I move to put help him out of his clumsy condition with my white embroidery

This is bad. This is really bad. "it hurts doesn't it. It's just for a while" I pat princess's head and heard her neigh softly. Smoothing her brown fur with my palms. She caught a cold and has to be isolated before it spreads. Her constant whining and neighing shows her dislike towards the idea. "let's give it five days" I reassure her. She neighs loudly as she takes her head out of my embrace. I pull her back. "okay, four days" She sends me a look that says"seriously?" I shrug. She gruffs and turns away from me whilst swishing my face with her tail as she made her way further into her new stable. "Okay, okay. Three days" She still doesn't look back so I bring out my secret weapon. An apple. I throw the apple over to her. She feigns ignorance and I pretend to leave. After a few seconds I return and catch her chewing the apple. "Ha!, couldn't resist, could you?" My lips can't help but form a smug grin at her. She gruffs angrily at me before she goes further into her stable with the

"The heat here is affecting their mating process" I got up and collected a napkin from Alex which I used to clean my hand. "Even if they do mate, the would have an hard time giving birth. Get something done here. The heat makes them uncomfortable" Alex jotted down the things I said, nodding in agreement to my suggestion. "it will be fixed" He assures me as we started to walk out of the shed. "Thanks for taking out of your time to check on us" Alex smiles brightly at me and I return with a small smile of mine. "It's not a problem, have a nice day Alex" I bid him smilingly before walking away from the sty. The problems at the ranch this time is minimal and less stressful. I'm glad I was able to find solutions to the pig mating issue. Pork meat is one of our major selling business. There's always a popular demand for our pork meat because we deliver them in their most preserved state. My last stop at the ranch today is the apple plantation. It's been a while since I've visited the

"Yes," I reply to his previous sentence. My hands tuck into my pockets as I walk past him further into the maze of trees. Every apple looks juicy and are begging to be plucked. Dad would always apple pick with me and allow me to win. Good days.... Roland's footstep follow lightly but steadily behind me. "I heard about the dispute between our men and I would like to apologize on their behalf" I say loud enough for him to hear. He doesn't respond for a few seconds but when I stop to pluck another apple from its branch, it falls to the ground, rolled between my feet. I turn around to see it stop at Roland's feet. He smirks lightly before going down to pick it. He dusts the surface lightly and hands it over to me. "Things like that are bound to happen. You don't need to apologize" his velvety voice goes straight Into the pit of my tummy. I nod slowly. We continue our walk round the plantation, and I immediately regret not taking a basket with me. "should have brought a basket" I mutte

He shakes his head, ruffling the hair on his head with his hands. "Yeah, it's nothing for you to worry about" he dismisses. I eye him for a while. I know my uncle. He's a man who prefers to carry all the burdens and sorrows alone and would not cry for help until his very last breath. We are the ones who brought him out of that habit but like they say. "Bad habits die hard" I won't get the information I want by pestering him about it so I let him be. It's better I change the topic. "I would love to pass a message to all of Vipera made men" I started, watching his reaction calmly. He looked up and raised an eyebrow at me. I continued "Anyone caught in a brawl or argument with the Russian mafia made men would be dealt with, especially by me" He didn't react much to the news like I, had expect him to. He knows every word I say is true and I'll be sure to follow through. With that, I stand up to leave. "I'll visit mother tomorrow and tell her about the joining" I say before leaving

"Nervous?" She cocks her right eyebrow at me with a grin on her lips. "It depends Rolan, are you?" "No" I answer. She smiles coyly. "Me neither" she says then she tries to move away but I insist on having her close to my body so I hold her still. "Does my touch bite Mika?" I growl into her ear to see a familiar blush creep up her neck. I never liked girls who blushed profusely at any action but Davinia's blush is innocent and from the look on her face, she hates the fact that she does blush and that makes me want to tease her more. "Or it doesn't. I'd love to see how deep your blush can go. I'm glad to be the one to see you in this state" At this she cocks both right and left brow at me and scoffs like she can't believe how innocent she is and how I'm the one who gets to see her blush. I only said that to get under her skin but with the reaction she gave, something tells me what I said is true and I somewhat feel glad for that. "You must be delusional if you think you're t

"I went into the kitchen and made one of my favorite tea recipes, Creamy vanilla flavored peach ice tea. Taught your chef something new today, he should pay me." Mrs. Dimitri makes me smile again when I see her holding two plastic cups with dome lids filled with a foamy peak creamy orange-colored iced tea."I knew it would make you smile." She hands me a cup, and I take it, uttering a small thank you. The cold drink somehow makes me feel better about the drive. Costa, our driver, leads us to the Lexus where we take our seats at the back and settle. She watches me with eager eyes as I place the straw between my lips and take a long sip of my drink. My eyes close involuntarily; the heavenly taste commands them to do so. The sweet peach flavor bursts on my tongue, mixed with the vanilla ... I can't help but hum in approval at the taste.I pull the straw away. "It is divine." I moan before slipping the straw back in and enjoying the rest of it."I'm glad you love it. There is more where i

I will still make my usual visits, although the first few months after the wedding will be hard, but we'll get through it. In the meantime, meet my mother-in-law, Mrs. Dimitri.")I go to hug his right hand tightly so he can get the hint, and he does. His eyes widen in surprise, then in panic. He laughs nervously as he stretches out his hand for a shake."I'm Charles, nice to meet you." I sigh. At least his English is getting better."You do a good job here. I've never been to a winery before; it looks great." Mrs. Dimitri praises him while shaking his outstretched hand.A small blush takes over Charles' face as he thinks of what to say back to her in English. I immediately turn him away. I start the engine and drive outside of the garage, down the lane to the ranch. The sun shines on the smooth green pastures where the cows are out and scattered, chewing on the grasses without a care in the world, surrounded by white wooden gates of medium height. A worker is right at the left corner of the field; he spots me and waves with his hat. I do the same as I drive by.“This looks beautiful. I must say I'm surprised,” Mrs. Dimitri looks amazed by the view in front of her. “You manage the whole ranch?”“I have help. It's not easy running the mafia and a ranch,” I say as I take a turn to the right, heading up the hill toward the stables. It's beginning to get hot, and I hope it won't be a problem for Mrs. Dimitri.“No, it's not, but you're doing a good job, dearie,” she cooes. I feel her gaze on me, but I don't divert my eyes away from the road. “Will you be able to leave this behind?” Another feeling of déjà vu washes through me again. My lips tug upwards; she notices. “Did I

“So it's okay when you're grumpy and wicked at any time of the day, but when I do it, it's wrong?” Her eyebrows and nose scrunch. She looks offended.I run my hands through my messy hair and scoot back on my bed till my back touches the headboard. “First of all, I didn't say it was wrong. I said it was too early, and of course, the same does not apply to me because I'm the boss.” My arms fold underneath my bosom, and I shrug with a smug look on my face. For some reason, getting on Tiana’s nerves makes me feel good this morning. She raises her fist as if to punch me, but I immediately raise my hands high in surrender. “Just joking. What has your knickers in a twist?”She huffs again. I eye her outfit. Did she sleep in her suit, or did she dress up before coming to my room? But it's very early, and her clothes look ruffled. It's either she slept in it or she didn't sleep at all. Poor thing.“Your board members are so slow!”“Too much caffeine does that to one. And I've been overworking

"She likes gardening. She also likes to read but had to put a stop to that when it began to strain her eyes. She loves animals and will definitely love to hear how you've been managing the ranch after your father passed. Mother is not as energetic as she should be. She won't take up most of your time; she only wants to bond with someone who's about to be a member of her family, no need to be nervous. As long as you don't treat her like a patient… you both are good to go."I'm tongue-tied and unprepared. I totally wasn't expecting him to try and help me out. If all he said is true, then having a conversation won't be so bad. I did tell him my problem, and just like he promised, he helped find a solution for me. Maybe this marriage thing is going to work. I find myself smiling like a fool; my face brightens up, and I immediately return to reality."If you say so, I would have no problem speaking to her then. Thanks for telling me what she likes.""And you don't necessarily have to talk

We step inside together, but I immediately excuse myself when my phone starts to ring, fortunately for me. "I will try my best to join you for dinner. Please feel at home. Martha here is available for all you need help with; I will be in my study." With that, I bow to her. When I raise my head, she's looking at me with the same intent gaze that Rolan often directs at me. Like she's studying me, with the intention of knowing everything about me and acing every test and exam about me. Just like Rolan’s stares, hers also make me uncomfortable and nervous. I don't let her study me for long as I nod at Martha and take quick steps to the elevator.“Why is my heart beating this way?” I mutter under my breath as I rub my chest where my heart lies with a little force.“You should see a doctor. He would know the answer to that,” comes a snarky response from behind me, right before I open the door to my room. My eyes widen, and my legs move before I think. I'm coming from the airport with Rolan's mother in the passenger seat. Roland was kind enough to let me know of his mother's illness. She was involved in a major accident years before Rolan and Nikolai came into their lives, and it hindered her eyesight. Medications and surgeries have been able to help her see thus far, but not for long. Her sight is getting blurry, and she can't see a thing without her glasses now. He also made sure to inform me not to treat her like a sick patient. He said she hates it and it spoils her mood. He also listed certain foods and snacks she will want to eat but is not allowed to eat. I've been repeating the names of those foods and snacks in my mind so I won't forget. These days my mind is like a browser with lots of tabs open and a series of downloads. I'm trying my best to keep up with my memory. "Are you always this quiet, or am I the cause of this awkwardness?" I turn to meet her squinted eyes and her smiling lips, completely at a loss for what to s

"First the 'shadow,' now the Grandmaster, eh?" Christian blows a thick puff of nicotine into the atmosphere while Nicolai and I stand behind him as he faces the glass door to the balcony of his office."That's what he calls himself now. Rumors say no one has seen his face. Apparently, he goes about with a mask," Nicolai reports, reading from the tab in his hand. Christian scoffs, but it sounds more like a short cough."I wonder why. Of course, no one would want to stare at a disfigured face. I'm starting to feel regret for not letting you kill him." He turns and meets my cold eyes. "So, what's the plan?""He needs to be put down. He is causing problems for the Italians, and he is doing that to ruin the joining of our families. He causes problems and frames the Russian soldiers for it. I won't sit back and watch any longer. It's good that he is under the guise of Grandmaster. We will kill him under the pretense that he wants to ruin our mafia and gain full control."Christian's eyes na

My mind is clouded with thoughts as I drive. Why did that man come to my office? He knows we've been searching for him. He came all the way to my office to tell me not to trust anyone? Who exactly is he? Most importantly, is he a friend or a foe or a clue to help solve my father's case? He did mention being friends with my father, but I don't remember seeing him in any of Dad's pictures.Dad never mentioned any ex-soldier, nor did Uncle. If he is a friend, why is he just making an appearance now? What is his mission? I hate not knowing. It makes me want to itch. This is not the mood I want to have when I meet Mother. I try to think of things that should put me in a better mood. Roland's veiny arms come to mind, the way they flex when he's handling me. His eyes, I can stare at them forever, especially when they burn with heat for me. Yeah, I love that. His suppressed moans and groans… A horn pulls me back to reality, and I realize that I'm not moving at a green light. As I enter the co
