The time right now was 7 o'clock in the afternoon. I got off work about an hour ago. Neveah was in her high chair eating her oatmeal cereal, watching Mickey Mouse while I was in the kitchen busy making dinner. By the time Liyana arrives it should be done. Tonight I'm going to make chicken carbonara because Liyana have been asking for the past week for me to make this so I decided to make it tonight.
“How was work? I asked when I heard the front door open.“Uhhmm…….. the usual.” Liyana said, closing the front door behind her, walking towards Neveah.“Yes it was weird Neveah.” Liyana said when Neveah yelled almost as if she agreed or wanted to say something.
“Come on, let's have dinner and you can tell me everything.” I said, handing Liyana a glass of white wine.
“You made chicken carbonara.” Liyana said, sounding excited, when we got to the kitchen.
“Yes, you have been asking so I decided to make it tonight.” I said sitting down on one of the barstools behind the island.
“You know since I’m his assistant I have to be around him. It requires me to be by his side even though I don’t want to be. I don't have a choice but today was…….different.” Liyana said , sitting across from me.
“Why was it different?” I asked.
“So you know about him having this demeanour that makes you feel unwelcoming when you are around him?” Liyan asked, taking a sip from her wine.“Mmm.” I hummed, nodding my head.“Surprisingly it didn’t feel that way today when I was around him. He seemed distracted in a way, spacing out most of the time.”Liyan said, taking a bite of the carbonara. “My god, this is good Aaliyah.” Liyana yelled with her mouth full.“Thank you Liya but you know what, I just realised you never told me your boss name or the company you work at.” I inquired, taking a bite from the carbonara.“Because you never asked so I thought you already knew.” Liya explained, taking a sip from her wine.“Why would you think that?” I asked, pouring wine in my glass.“Because it’s you Aaliyah, nothing gets passed you.” Liya said with a smile on her face, gesturing with her head towards me.
“Only because I care for your safety and also Neveah’s. That’s why I’m like that, wanting to know the people that are around you or where you are going.” I explained standing up to walk towards Neveah to make sure that Neveah is still fine.“I know and I appreciate that about you but Aaliyah I have something I need to tell you.” Liyana asked softly, I barely heard her.
“And what is that?” I asked, picking Neveah up.“A few girls from work invited me to go clubbing with them…..tonight.” Liyana said, standing up walking towards the sink with her plate.
“Where are you meeting them Liyana?” I inquired walking towards the kitchen standing next to Liyana.“I'm supposed to meet them at this club called Spades.” Liyana said, looking down.
“How many girls is it that you are going with?” I asked, wanting to know everything before she leaves.“Three or four I think. I'm not sure.” Liyana said looking back up.“Is the club far from here?” I asked again another question.
“It's a 20 minute drive from here.” Liyana said, fidgeting with her fingers.
“Do you know the girl's name that you are going with?” I asked, holding her hand.“Uhm….I only know Arianna and Samantha.” Liyana said, taking Neveah in her arms.
“Their last names, Liyana.” I asked to go and do some research on them when she leaves .“Samantha Miller and Ariana Davis.” Liyana said knowing why I asked their last names.
“Are you going to take your car or what?” I asked because I know she is going to drink and I don't want her to drive when she has alcohol in her system.
“No, I'm going to take a cab.” Liyana said.“When you get there, send me the location.” I said with a smile to show her that it was fine. She just has to be careful. “I will, I promise and I won’t accept drinks from men.” Liyan beamed, giving me a hug. “Now go and get dressed.” I said taking Neveah from her.““Okay then, I'll go and get change.” Liyana yelled, running towards her room sounding excited.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~It was 11 o'clock already and Liyana was not back yet.I couldn't sleep knowing she was still outside at a club no less. Grabbing my phone on my bedside desk just then it went off. Seeing who was calling at this hour it was Liyana. I answered it but no one spoke.“Liyana?” I asked, sitting up against the headboard.
“Aaliyah…” She said and that's all it took for me to jump out of bed getting dressed. It sounded as if she was crying.
Throwing on a black hoodie with a pair of sweatpants and my black air force I walked over to Neveah seeing that she was still fast asleep. I didn't know what to do, I wasn't going to leave her here alone. Should I take her with me but then I had to leave her in the car alone.
Maybe I could ask the neighbours if they could look after her while I was gone. Taking her out of her crib I changed her diaper before wrapping her in a blanket. Taking her diaper bag I placed everything in there that they would possibly need while I was gone.
Grabbing the range rovers key's I quickly walked out of the apartment. Locking the doors and knocking on our neighbours doors. Waiting for about 5 minutes someone came to open the door and it was the husband. It was an old couple that lived across from us.
“Hey dear, Is something wrong?” Mr.Alberto asked when he opened the door.
“I'm sorry Mr.Alberto to wake you up at this hour but could you look after Neveah while I leave. Liyana called and she sounded like she needed help and I have no one to look after Neveah while I'm gone.” I asked.
“Of course dear, go ahead. Anita would be excited to look after Neveah for you.” Mr.Alberto said.
“Thank you Mr.Alberto, I really appreciate it.I will try to be quick so that she won't keep you guy's up.” I said handing a sleeping Neveah over to Mr.Alberto.
“It's a pleasure dear, now go and help Liyana.” He said usering me away.
“Thank you, once again.” I said as I walked down the hall.
Getting to the parking lot that was under the hotel we lived at, I unlocked the car as I was walking towards it. Climbing into the car I started the ignition and wasted no time speeding off. Getting to a red light I entered the location of the club into the gps.
The whole drive to the club I couldn’t stop thinking about what could have possibly happened. I kept running scenarios in my head, each one getting horrible. Maybe it isn't as bad as I'm thinking but I couldn't shake the feeling that something had happened to her.
Arriving at the club you could hear how loud the music was. Parking across the street I switched off the car and climbed out. Running across the street to go straight into the club but was stopped by the bouncer asking for my freaking ID. I didn't have time for this shit my friend needed me and I needed to find her.He let me enter after I showed my ID and as soon as I stepped inside I was engulfed with the smell of cigars, weed and the disgusting smell of alcohol. I hated that smell. In my 27 years of living I never had alcohol touch my lips just because I knew what it could do to you. I knew how it could change the person you are. I've lived through it my 18 years of living with my parents.Taking out my phone I dialled Liyana's number and she answered immediately. All I could hear was soft crying but you couldn't hear the music where she was. It was faint so I knew where she was. Pushing past the people , to get to the bathroom. I couldn’t give a shit if you were grinding on each o
Making sure that she followed behind Dominic I made my way to this Mason. Getting closer to them I could hear them laughing and talking about Liyana. He was standing with his back facing me and I stopped behind him tapping him on his shoulder. As he turned around I jabbed him in his throat making him fall back. Two guys came running from behind me, bumping into me, rushing to his side helping back up. The girls just stood there staring at me and I took one step closer to them and they ran away without looking back. They helped him up and he lifted his head up looking at me.“Let go of me!” He said pushing the two guys away from his side and charged towards me.He came for me and I didn’t move. He grabbed me by the throat and I head bumped him making his nose bleed. He let go of me and wiped his nose as the blood came out.“F**king bitch.” One of his friends yelled as he came for me.He went for a jab but I ducked , slightly sliding to the side I gave a hook to his side making him stum
How do I say this in the nicest way possible because no matter what I try to say it comes out the wrong way because of the way I say it even if I try to say it without sounding like I want him to get the f**k out of our apartment. I don’t know how I ended up in this situation with Dominic sitting in the living room with Neveah. When I stepped out of that room all I heard from Liyana was “ Come on Mr.De Luca is waiting for us in the car.” I didn’t have a chance to say anything because I was pulled out of the office where the two brothers stood smiling, waving goodbye. It's been 20 minutes since we got home and I couldn’t find the nicest way without it coming out the wrong way, to tell this giant of a man sitting in our living room to leave because I wasn’t about to let myself feel uncomfortable in my own home. Liyana basically ran to her room when we entered the apartment leaving me alone with this man and to top it off when Neveah saw him she had this adorable smile of hers and mad
Waking up to baby Naveah crying, I climbed out of my bed and picked her up out of her crib. Seeing that it was still dark outside I looked at the clock on my bedside seeing that it was only 4 o'clock in the morning and I let out a groan. I just went to sleep about two hours ago and I was up once again.Cradling her in my arms I started to walk up and down in my room to stop her crying, it always helps. She started to quiet down a bit and I looked down at her seeing her staring up at me with those blue eyes of hers."You need help Aaliyah?" Liyana asked, peeking her head around my bedroom, sounding half asleep."Thank you but I'm fine Liyana, go back to bed. You have work tomorrow." I said usering her back to her room."So do you Aaliyah." She said back, stopping at her bedroom door."My shift doesn't start until 11 oçlock Liyana and yours starts at 8 o'clock. Your alarm is going to go off in about a hour, go back to sleep."I said, closing her with the duvet.Just when she laid her hea
Arriving at the bakery, I parked across the street since there was no parking on the other side. Turning off the ignition, I took the diaper bag from the passenger side and climbed out of the car. Looking across the street into the baker there was no movement which was weird. Every morning there would be people already waiting outside the bakery for us to open and the workers would be running around talking to each other getting everything ready but it was quiet this morning. Where was everyone, aren’t supposed to come to work today or what. Did I miss something in the group about there being no work today? Maybe Elena texted me about today. Reaching for my phone in my pants, I unlocked it and there were no messages from the group or from Elena. Just when I was about to put my phone away it rang and Elena’s name appeared on the screen. “Hey, Miss Elena.” I answered, opening the back door on my side ,unclipping Neveah from the car seat, picking her up.‘Hey dear, how far away are you
