Chapter 3

last update Last Updated: 2020-05-27 04:31:36

I sighed looking at the homework we received for the weekend. School had started around three weeks ago. The amount of assignments we received and the regular tests didn't give me a chance to realise how fast time passed. Tbh the work I received this week was collectively less and I was sure I would be able to do it in a few hours. Since tomorrow was Friday, I didn't want to keep any homework pending. I wanted to spend my Friday reading a good book.

Reaching home I quickly finished all my assignments. Going down to the living room, I sat beside my sister Felicia, who was engrossed in some cartoon. My sister never got tired of watching cartoons even if she had watched the same episode a thousand times. She was 13 years old, yet she seemed like an eight year old kid at times. She was so annoying, selfish, and bratty, that we often disagree on many things and end up fighting. My mom keeps saying that sometimes she feels like she has two boys instead of girls by the way we fight. We literally throw punches and kicks at each other, and in the end Felicia ends up crying and I get screwed by my mum for it. No matter what I still love her, even though I never tell her or show affection. I try coaxing her into letting me watch the television for sometime.

"Fel, can we watch something else?" I pout at her.

"NO". She didn't even glance my way. I got irritated by it.

"But you have watched this show a hundred times."

"SO? What's your problem?" Frustrated by her answer, I go away from there, knowing for sure that I will lose my temper if I talk to her anymore. I went to my backyard and sat there with my knees drawn to my chest and a book in hand. Once it was fully dark and since the streetlight doesn't help me much in reading, I walked back into the house. I found my sister still watching cartoons. Why am I even surprised, she would do the same thing always. I met my mom in the living room. She is shorter than me, with black eyes and black hair. She truly is a beauty. She looks really young even if her age tells otherwise. I go and kiss her on the cheek.

"Where were you Fayth? You didn't tell me that you were going somewhere." She asks with a look of concern. My mom always wanted me to tell her where I was going. She was a little protective.

"I was in the backyard, reading." She just smiled, relived. She knows my reading habits and how much I love it. For a while I just stand there hugging her. I wasn't allowed to stay like that for long. Before I knew it, my sister came between me and my mom, sperating us both. She often did that. I just walked away.

***********************************************************************************************Friday came at last. School got over a few minutes ago and I was in a hurry to reach home. As soon I got there, I changed my clothes, threw myself on the bed and started reading. Halfway through the book, my door banged open and a frantic Scar approached me.

"Fayth! You gotta help me, I don't know what to do!!" She literally screamed at my face.

"Scar, calm down, what should I help you with?"

"Landon and I were texting and suddenly he asked me whether I would like to join him at this party that one of his friend is throwing. The party starts at 7:30. I have nothing to wear and it's 4:45 already. I haven't even showered yet. This is my first party ever. I'm scared that he will leave me halfway 'cause I'm too boring. I don't know what to do!" She said it all in one breath. After her speech she took a long breath and looked at me with pleading eyes.

"Fayth. Help me". I looked at her calmly and thinking about the steps to be taken and I took charge. Suddenly her face brightened.

"How about you accompany me to the party? You can accompany my brother! Please, please, please!!", she begged. I stepped away from her.

"NO. Absolutely not. I am not coming." I shook my head. She pouted and gave me her best puppy dog face. It was difficult to resist that look.

"You needn't get drunk. Be our designated driver if you must. Please, I will grant you any one wish you desire. Please, I need company", she pleaded, not removing the puppy dog look. I eventually succumed to her evil antics.

"FINE!" I replied. Scar just sequeled and hugged me tightly completely ignoring my look of distaste.

"Go to your house, have a bath. I will do the same and come over to yours to help you get ready." Knowing the amount of time she took to have bath, I was sure that I would reach there before she finished having bath and would help her pick out an outfit.

"Oh by the way, you will be the one who will tell my mom about the party". We both knew that convincing my mom would be difficult. I was happy that I didn't have to do it.

"Not fair!" She pouted like a kid who was told that she wouldn't get candy anymore. I waved her off telling that we didn't have much time. I could hear her talking to my mom, and being continously questioned by her. I smiled and went to take a hot bath.

Choosing my outfit, I went over to Scar's house in my sweatpants. It was Mrs.Parker who opened the door. After talking to her for a few minutes, i entered Scar's room. I could hear her humming in the bathroom.

"Hurry up will you!" I screamed. She gave me a brief okay as a reply. I opened her closet and chose her outfit and laid it on the bed. She came out in a few minutes and I slipped into the bathroom to change as she changed outside. I chose a sphageti sleeved black, mid-thigh dress with a semi-open back paired with black angle length boots. I straightened my hair and helped Scar curl her hair. She had a off-shoulder black frock with black sillhoutes. We both made our way downstairs. Scar told me that we all would be going in Sam's car, and Landon would meet us there.

We reached downstairs to see that Sam was all ready and texting someone. On seeing us he looked shocked. He took in every detail of my outfit. He looked completely out of words. One could not blame him as he had never seen me dressed up.

"Damn" he muttered under his breath, but not low enough for it to be non audible to the two of us standing there. Nudging me, Scar gave me a wide grin, her eyes twinkling with amusement. I just ignored her and pretended that I didn't hear the comment.

I wasn't very keen on going to the party. I heard a lot mishappenings would take place every time when one attended the party. I just hope i'm lucky enough to not be approached with anything unlikely. Cracking my knuckes i braced myself.

  • Fighting in Silence   Author's Note

HI,Sooo... This will be the end of the first book. I was wondering how to end it and this seems like the perfect way( For the time being, I guess). For two months I had a full-blown writing spurt and now it has come to an abrupt stop. So yeah, the second book will take some time to

  • Fighting in Silence   Epilogue

I woke up to bright sunlight shining on my face. I groaned and tried shifting to find a much more suitable position, but the cold hard floor wasn't comfortable in the very least.I slowly sat up, my back and my muscles aching more than ever. I rubbed my eyes and my face, only to immediately wince when my frozen fingertips touched my face. My fingers had turned slightly blue due to the cold, but luckily they hadn't turned numb.I looked beside me to see that my sister and my mum were still sleeping. My tossing and turning had made me move away from them by a few meters. I slowly hauled myself up from the floor. The cave was fully visible now that the sunlight was filtering into the cave. I had to say it was, even more, prettier in the daylight. The whole cave was black in colour with blues in it. It looked untouched and spotless apart from our belongings that were sprawled on the floor. I made a mental note to clean it up later. I decided to check the outsid

Fayth's POV:The car was slowly coming to a halt, and the air was thick with smoke. I jolted awake, confused by the sudden change in the atmosphere. I looked sideways at my mum, in the hopes of getting some clarification."Why did you stop, mum?" I asked her."There is a huge line of cars stuck right ahead. I don't know why there is traffic here. We haven't even entered the city yet." She looked confused. I looked ahead, to see so many vehicles lined up ahead. We waited for a while, yet the vehicles didn't seem to move ahead. The people seemed to be getting angry, and I saw many people get out of the car in order to inspect why there was a block."What is happening?" My sister moved towards the front seat and asked. She seemed to have woken up from her slumber, still rubbing her eyes."There is a block ahead," I replied."Why?" She questioned."Like the hell, I know!

  • Fighting in Silence   Chapter 53

I hoisted into the car, the little of what was left, of our belongings. My mother stood on the sideways, her eyes glued to the debris which we once called home. I didn't know what to say to her or how to comfort her."I could have done it," Rafael told me, pointing towards the bag that I had just placed in the car."I am not weak, you know," I replied. He was already helping me do other things, and I wasn't going to stand on the sidelines and watch him work.Adrien slammed the boot shut. I turned towards them; not knowing how to say goodbye.I stepped back and let mum do the farewells first. She hugged both the boys and said something to them, that I couldn't catch. Surprisingly she didn't cry."Fayth!" I heard someone scream my name, and I turned around to see who it was.Scarlet was running towards us, her brother and her family walking behind her. The site was pretty funny, but her eyes glistening with
