I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. I would love to read your comments.
I was released from the hospital two days later on the condition that I take it easy and rest for a week. The wolfsbane that had been in my system was finally gone, but it had drastically slowed the healing on my back. Onyx had only just barely healed the wounds, but I was definitely going to have scars. Isaac calls them my battle scars and he’s proud of how I’m handling it. I’m proud of the way he has been handling the trauma he sustained by seeing me like that. I know it bothered him. Queen Winnie and I were sitting on the porch to the pack house, watching some of the warriors train with Gamma Axel. I asked, “Does anyone need an attitude adjustment?” Gamma Axel gave us an evil laugh, “I actually do have one warrior who could use one.” After he pointed the warrior out to me, I concentrated on his thoughts and looked at Gamma Axel, “That man is so full of himself, there is no room for anyone else. It’s a wonder I was able to get in there at all.” Queen Winnie laughed out loud as Gam
When we reached our house, we got out of the car and Queen Winnie was standing on the porch. I looked at Isaac and chuckled as he let out a low growl. When I reached the porch, I asked, “Is there any chance we can have a couple days off?” She furrowed her brow and asked, “Why?” I answered with a suggestive expression, “The doctor cleared me for normal activity.” She looked at me with a confused expression. I laughed when I could see the light bulb above her head illuminate, “OH! Of course! I will be back the day after tomorrow. Isaac, be prepared to carve some time out of your schedule to train.” Isaac laughed, “I sure will. Thank you, Queen Winnie.” Winnie looked at me, “You are going to mark each other, right?” I nodded, “We are.” She smiled, “Perfect. I will see you both later then.” I laughed, “Thank you so much, Queen Winnie.” As soon as we were in the door, Isaac locked it then threw me over his shoulder and carried me to the bedroom while I laughed until my stomach hurt. He
We spent that day and the next making love in every position and every room in our house. We only took breaks to eat, drink or sleep. By the second morning, I was feeling very sore and needed a break. When Queen Winnie popped in while I was making breakfast, I sighed in relief, “Thank the Goddess you are here! I may be walking funny, but I am so happy to see you.” She laughed, “Rubbed you raw, did he?” I nodded, “But we couldn’t stop. It was crazy!” She smiled, “Oh, I wish I could have that feeling. I wouldn’t mind being rubbed raw once or twice.” I laughed, “It’s not very comfortable.” I finished making the waffles and I sat all the food on the table. I asked Queen Winnie, “You are staying for breakfast, aren’t you?” She smiled, “Why else would I be here early?” I set the table for three places just as Isaac walked into the room. He was looking and smelling extra yummy today. I had to look away because there was no way I could handle anything like that today. I desperately needed
Isaac jumped into action. He threw his hands up and held both hands with his palms facing the fountain, turning it into a huge ice sculpture. Isaac smiled, “Nothing like learning under pressure.” I laughed, “Oops.” Queen Winnie just shook her head, “That’s why we are out here. We need to learn your abilities and both of you need to learn how to control them.” I added, “I’m sure that is most helpful way to learn.” Isaac asked, “If I just visualize something, will it happen?” Queen Winnie replied, “It could, if you have the ability to use that element.” He closed his eyes and started moving his hands in a lifting motion. A strong gust of air blew under me and swept me off my feet. I was travelling around the clearing on my back. I started laughing when I came to a stop in front of him. Winnie laughed, “You did that well, Isaac. That was really good.” I asked, “Do you think you could do that on a mass scale?” He nodded, “I think so. We can try it on the warriors later.” I smiled, “Soun
After I was ready to go, the guys were cleaning the kitchen and Isaac was standing in the living room with four warriors. I walked into the room and, without turning to be sure it was me, he held out his arm to pull me close to him. I have to admit, this was my favorite place to stand during hours that I was awake. Isaac explained, “Love, these warriors are some of our best and most trusted. They will be joining Alex as your protection detail at all times. This is Kevin, Jayla, Mike and Tayna. They are mated couples, so they don’t lose time with each other.” I smiled, “I like this idea! I’ll allow it.” My comment made everyone in the room laugh. I chuckled, “No, really, I do like this idea. I just hope that having to follow me around all the time won’t mess things up for all of you. Has Isaac told you this could go on for years?” Tayna replied, “He has, Zariah. We are all honored to serve you for life.” I gasped, “Are you sure? What if you have children?” Tayna and Jayla shook thei
The guys ran after the human to disarm him while I linked Isaac, “Isaac! We’re in the mall parking lot and Alex has been shot! I need you to come quick and bring your dad!” Isaac, proving himself a wise mate, responded, “On my way.” I was busy trying to keep Alex’s eyes on mine as he writhed in pain. He cringed, “Silver bullet.” I shook my head, “Don’t you worry, Alex. Isaac and Alpha are on their way. Just stay awake. Okay?” He nodded, still cringing in pain. We heard another gunshot and I looked back at the girls. Tayna stood up, “I’ll go see what is going on.” She was only gone for less than a minute when she smiled, “Never mind. The situation is controlled. Apparently, they were able to get the gun away from him and they shot his foot.” Alex laughed and then groaned, which made the rest of us cringe. As soon as the guys arrived with our shooter, Isaac, Alpha Kenny and Gamma Axel showed up. Gamma Axel ran to Alex and I ran to Isaac, “This was awful. That human approached me in th
I was waiting at the emergency entrance of the pack hospital when an ambulance pulled into the driveway. Tayna jumped out, then two paramedics followed. When they pulled the stretcher out it almost looked empty. When I saw her face, she was a bloody mess and she was severely malnourished. The human nearly mutilated her face. She must have one tough wolf, because Onyx was able to sense her wolf. I went with them to the exam room and put my arm over Tayna’s shoulder. She immediately turned and started crying on my shoulder. Luna Kyra approached us and smiled at me, “Already a damn fine luna.” I sighed, “Thank you. I wish there was something I could do for Elena.” I told Tayna, “She has the best doctors in the state treating her. Her wolf is strong. She just needs to do some healing of her own.” Tayna stepped back and looked at me, “You can sense that?” I nodded, “Onyx recognized her wolf right away. She has been weakened, but she is not gone.” Tayna let out a breath of relief, “Zariah,
I growled, “I could blind you here and now. But that would be way out of order. I want you to see everything we are going to do to you. But I will blind you before we kill you.” He growled, “Just give me something for the pain.” I chuckled, “You are going to get something for pain only because your mate doesn’t need to feel it. When she is better, you will feel every bit of pain that you inflicted on her.” A nurse walked into the room and injected something into his IV. I turned to the nurse, “You don’t really have to be gentle. His mate is in a medically induced coma.” She asked wide-eyed, “Is his mate the lady they brought in that was beaten past recognition?” I nodded, “That’s her. We need to get him stabilized then down to the cells. I really don’t want to be bothered by his screams.” She agreed, “I will sedate him so the guards don’t have to waste too much energy getting him there.” After thanking her, I went back to Alex’s room. I stepped into my mate’s arms and took a deep b
After the initial crowd of people were let out of the gates, I turned to Isaac, “That’s not all of them. There is one face, in particular, that was not present.” My mate nodded, “I know. I have already sent warriors to get them.” I suddenly watched his eyes glaze over and I knew something was wrong. When his eyes cleared, he growled, “The warriors are having to forcefully bring her and her entire family here. They are refusing to leave.” I sighed, “I was hoping it wouldn’t come to this.” I mind linked Lena, “Hey sweetie, can we use your levitation skills for a bit? We have an argumentative family. They are giving our warriors a hard time about leaving.”She smiled, “Sure, mom. Can I use your computer to look at the cameras?” I smiled, “Please do.” It didn’t take long before the entire family floated to the gate. Isaac smirked, “I never even thought to use our daughter’s ability.” I shrugged, “That’s why you have me, love. We complement each other.”When the family was placed on the gro
After hearing all of them whine and cry on the way out of the pack house, Isaac and I went to the dining room to join our children. When we reached the dining hall, all three of them waved us over to our table. Isaac escorted me to the table and I asked, “Would you please get a glass of tea for me?”Isaac nodded and went to the beverage station to prepare our drinks and I turned to our children, “Blaine, you don’t have to worry about any of them hurting you again. They are being banished. Your dad and I just need to do the official banishment in about an hour.”Blaine asked, “Why in an hour?” I answered, “Because there are a couple of them that did things to you that were so awful that I want every trace of them gone. I want every single family member gone. You understand me, don’t you?” He nodded, “I understand. Thank you, mom.”Isaac sat my coffee in front of me and then took a seat next to Blaine, “We would do anything to keep all of our kids safe.” Blaine asked, “Wouldn’t you do an
Ten minutes later, we were all in Isaac’s office, waiting for the rest of the employees from the orphanage to arrive. I sat in my wheelchair next to Blaine while my girls sat on the couch on my other side. Isaac sat at his desk, smiling at all of us.I asked, “What has you so happy, love?” He smiled, “If you could see what I see, you would be happy too. Seeing my whole family together makes my heart happy.”Blaine furrowed his brow, “What do you mean?” I smiled, “Let me see.” I was able to easily access Isaac’s mind and look through his eyes. I smiled at the sight and turned to the kids, “I wish we could frame this memory and display it in the main foyer. It’s absolutely perfect.”I projected the photo onto the white wall and all of our kids gasped. Lena laughed, “Mom, you need to warn us before you do that. Blaine didn’t know you could do it.” I looked Blaine in the eyes, “Son, you are a special wolf in a family of special wolves. We are going to keep this a secret until you are older
Blaine looked at Isaac and me with determination, “I can tell you who the abusers are, Luna.” I moved my wheelchair close to his and asked, “Are you okay, sweetheart?” He nodded, “I will be okay. I always am.” I smiled, “I know you are. I want to know how you would feel about being able to call the alpha and I your mom and dad?”His eyes went wide as he asked, “Can I call Heather and Lena my sisters?” I laughed as Lena walked in, holding Heather’s hand, “You better, because we will be calling you our little brother.” Blaine smiled, “I would love that, Luna.” Isaac asked, “Do you know what that means, Blaine? Do you know what it means to be our only son?”Blaine shook his head as he furrowed his brows in confusion, “I don’t, Alpha.” Isaac knelt down to his level, “It means you will be my heir. You will be the next alpha of our pack. Would you like that?”Blaine’s eyes went wide again, “I would be happy just having you as my family.” I smiled, “Well, you will also have that for the rest
*Trigger warning… Description of child abuse in this chapter. *As soon as I was dressed, the salesman from the wheelchair manufacturer brought my new custom wheelchair into the room. After he made some adjustments, I was happy that I finally had my new wheels. I started moving around the room and feeling like I was fidgeting in my seat.Nurse Aadi walked in with paperwork in her hand, “Luna, it’s time for discharge instructions.” I held out my hand and she approached me, “I’m very sorry for leaving you the way I did.” I chuckled, “It’s fine. I understand completely. This is an emotional time. I have something to ask you.”Aadi raised her brow, “Ask away.” I asked, “Would you be willing to be my personal assistant and nurse? I would make sure to allow you time to volunteer at the orphanage, if you want, and you would also be Blaine’s nurse, because we are adopting him as soon as we leave the hospital.”Aadi smiled, “I would love to accept the position. Would it be wrong if I don’t give
Four hours later, I was in my hospital room trying, and failing, to take a nap. I had too much on my mind and I would start sobbing at random times. I could not find peace within myself at all. I felt so guilty that we could not protect her the way she needed us to.I suddenly felt so heavy that I had no choice but to sleep. As soon as the darkness fell around me, I was immediately surrounded by the brightest light I had ever seen. It was red too. My first thought was, “Shit. I have pissed off the Goddess.” Then I heard her voice, “Yes, you have. Zariah, you know more than anyone that you cannot control the actions of other people.”I cheekily responded, “Well, actually, you did give me a certain ability.” The light got brighter, if that was even possible, “You cannot control what they do on their own. Do not patronize me right now. I’m not in the mood for games. Now. This is what you will do. You will stop feeling sorry for yourself. None of this is about you. It’s about your pack, yo
Aadi and I went to the room where Cheyenne was waiting to be taken for burial preparation. I was immediately struck by the amount of blood that was on the sheet covering her body. Apparently, Aadi was also stricken by the sight because she ran to Cheyenne’s body and collapsed onto it.I asked, “Exactly what was your relationship with Cheyenne, Aadi?” She answered, “Cheyenne was my late mate’s baby sister. She took shelter in this pack after running from a human testing facility. She destroyed the place on her way out of it.”I asked, “Did you know that Blaine is her biological son?” She nodded, “I did. Cheyenne swore me to secrecy. I was with her when she gave birth to him.” I asked, “Do you know who his father is?” She shook her head, “No. I don’t know exactly who he is. I know he was a rogue and a trafficker who had sold her to the lab. He took her virginity on the way to sell her. He’s an evil man. It’s a wonder that she was able to give birth to Blaine.”I cried, “So much for one s
I asked my nurse to help me scoot into my wheelchair and get me to the Emergency Department. She gasped, “But Luna, it’s almost time for your physical therapy.” I responded shortly, “They are bringing Cheyenne in and it’s not looking good. I need to be there. We can reschedule PT until later. It’s not like I’m getting out of here today.”The nurse helped me scoot into my wheelchair and we took off for the Emergency Department like a bat out of hell. When we got there, I found my mate and he was holding our sobbing daughters closely. Heather was the first to see me and she ran to me, “Momma! She’s gone.” I sobbed, “I’m so sorry, sweetheart.”While Heather climbed into my lap, Isaac approached, “She’s right. They couldn’t save her. Her heart had been still for too long.” I shook my head and started crying. The nurse beside me growled, “I need to see her.” I asked Isaac, “Do you think she and I could go see her?” He answered, “Yeah. I can get you both back there.”I asked, “Are you going
TRIGGER WARNING: Domestic abuse scene ahead (this chapter only)It had been two days since we initially spoke with Cheyenne about being my private nurse and assistant and we haven’t seen her since then. I was starting to get worried about her. I was still in the hospital because I had not completed my physical therapy requirements. My doctor wanted to be sure I could perform all activities of normal daily living safelyWhen the morning nurse came to take her morning vitals, I asked, “What happened to Cheyenne?” The nurse asked, “We are sending one of our coworkers to her place right now. She didn’t call in to let us know she won’t be in. That’s not like her at all.” I suggested, “Let me check on her before anyone goes in.”I watched as the nurse mind linked the coworker to hold off going to Cheyenne’s house, then I tried to get inside Cheyenne’s mind to see what she was seeing at that moment. It was harder than usual to do it, and then I saw nothing in her mind at all. That scared me b
